Excellent instructions, Dusty! I plan to watch this a few more times and take notes as I go. We've been wanting to build one of these for years and now is the time.
I love your work, I built a similar setup, I did add a small hose for mop up to conserve water. And 1 1/2 fire hose, with a second ball on the intake so you can use water in your tank you help prime your pump when. Your drafting.
Any comments about a full water tank and the capacity of the pickup? I'm looking to build one of these, but I'm wondering if my Sierra 1500 would bottom out. Not looking for you to give me any guarantees--only curious about your own observations with your rig. Thanks! very helpful video.
+KosukiFire - This pump is a little lacking I must admit. It is a cast iron Banjo transfer pump. It is a single impeller (single stage) pump, and will do 190 gpm at 0 head, and 45 psi at nearly 0 gpm. To effectively operate most 1" fire nozzles, at least 70-80 psi is required, with 100 being the standard. I have completely upgraded from this video. Look for a new video of that unit soon!
+Dusty Tacha look at NorthernStars honda 3" high pressure pumo. 175 gpm @110 psi. About 280ft of head only 799. Iv been looking at one my self and just necking it down to 2 1.5" lines and options for 4 1" lines or 2 1" lines and a booster. Not trying to sell for the company, but happened to find this video when i was looking up skid ideas for a friends ranch trailer and wanted to shoot ya a msg.
