KANSAS - to the Stars through difficulty. The Ice Maiden - carved out state. Wichita - The Peerless Princess of the Plains. Very well-kept secrets for a long time. We, like the Name Kanza - means Peace, do so enjoy the peace & quiet. Like standing in the Flint Hills, you feel total awe just quietly taking deep breaths. It honestly does take your breath away, while it gives you the best clean air, EVER. Beautiful. Thank you so much! Guess it is time for all of us to stop saying shhhh...do not tell them what we got here. Much love....nice work! Baby - it is not - AR - Cansaw. We love the neighbors truly, but they got some tang when they speak. lol!

I can't tell you how much I enjoyed this film! My Mom and Dad met at a music party in Dodge City in 1956 and married shortly after. I was born in Springfield, Missouri because they had moved there before I was born. I've traveled all over Kansas and even lived in Leavenworth in 2001 while working for the Army at Ft. Leavenworth. We had family in Dodge and in a small town called Leroy near Yates Center. When I was a kid it seemed like Kansas was a long boring time of hours spent in the back seat of whatever Rambler my Dad owned at the time. In 1971 we took a trip to Colorado but stayed with an aunt in Dodge. We had moved to Northwest Arkansas where I still live and I remember listening to the radio to what is now classic rock with my head out the window. It was July and hot and all I could think of was when we were going to hit the next town hoping Dad would stop at a gas station so I could get a bottle of Pop. I would see a grain elevator in the distance and hope it was a place to end the monotony but sometimes there was not much there. I remember telling Dad Kansas was boring but he told me something that sticks to my head to this very day. He said there is beauty in every state, you just have to look for it. That was somewhere West of Withita on US 50. I was just 10 years old but I started looking at Kansas and saw what he meant. Gunsmoke was my favorite TV show and when we got to Dodge I had such a great time. So on our trips to Leroy in the early 70's I fell in love with Kansas and love it to this day. When I grew up I traveled across Kansas many times and I love it...all of it! It was so cool to see Kansas from the drones you used to make this film. I was so sad when Greensburg got hit by the tornado. We used to stop at the Big Well and touch the meteorite in the little building. I have pictures of me in Big Brutus from about 17 years ago. Some of the best memories of my life are in Kansas. Thank you so much for making this film! I'm going to share it with as many people as I can who think Kansas is a flyover State. Kansas is the heart of America and will always be ingrained in my heart.

@@SeldomHeard I'm not really looking for anyone to tell my story but I thank you and if you want to I would be honored. I give credit to my Dad for so many things. It's not like I did anything special but he sure did. I am just so thankful you made the wonderful video! I forgot to mention I had an uncle who lived in Topeka and owned a hothouse and a flower shop so I enjoyed my visit s there as well. Have you ever heard of a band called the Ozark Mountain Daredevil's? I'm friends with them and they have a song called Kansas You Fooler. If you listen to it I'm sure you would enjoy it. Reminds me of those trips across the beautiful State of Kansas. All my regard's. ❤️

Your father is right. There is beauty in every state and all it takes is the need to look for it. The perspective of Kansas varies with each person depending on where you’re from especially in regards to states. A person from Kansas will always look at Kansas differently versus a person from Missouri or any other state. A state line or a river can make a huge difference. I’m from Wyandotte County and whenever I go over Missouri it’s a very different feeling to me and not necessarily in a bad way but rather curious. Ad astra per aspera! 🌻

Funny because I could hv written yr experience I'm older than u but times stayed around a little longer than they do today. We hv a waterfall tours that surprise everyone but especially those that think it's only wheat fields Kansas is also known for the best sailing because of the wind and our many and large lakes. I'm n SE Ks for now..hoping when I hit it bigger I'll move somewhere that I'm right on the water.

@@ksarahsarahpri. Thank you for telling me your story about sailing in Kansas. Sorry so late answering. Yes my Dad used to talk about these things they made called 'Sail Car's.' He's been gone since February of '81 but I can still hear him talking about them. I think they were like sailboat's with wheels. He said they loved doing that and how fun it was. Maybe you can tell me if you remember them. Yes sadly things have changed so much since my beloved trip's across, up and down through Kansas with my family. My brother doesn't put as much love in Kansas as I do for some reason. I used to be jealous he was born in Dodge City and I was born in Springfield, Missouri. I love Missouri too and Springfield has a lot of cool history but I still kinda wish I had been born in Dodge. It's only a little over an hour from my place in Northwest Arkansas from Kansas so I can get there pretty fast, at least Southeast Kansas. I've really come to love that state! Wishing you all the best; Shannon French

I was born in Iowa, but we moved to Hope, KS when I was in third grade. Grew up getting all the typical jokes about Kansas being flat and boring from my friends out if state and I always argued they had no idea what they were talking about. I love Kansas. I've lived in the central and Eastern parts most of the last 35 years, but it seems I need to start going west! This was an amazing video...thank you so much! And DBZ for ever.

My dad grew up in Beaumont Ks. He had fond memories of living there. My grandpa worked for the Frisco railroad. Beaumont was a booming town when my dad was little. Ranchers brought their cattle in from the flint hills to be put on trains to be shipped out. Train engineers used to let my dad on the steam engines when they would turn the engines around on the turnabout.

We migrated to Kansas 35 years ago via the US Army. We've been here ever since and love our new home. Thanks for your wonderful presentation of a few of the more interesting features and highlights of the state. We spend a fair amount of time exploring the state and have seen many of the features that you covered and am looking forward to seeing more. Hate to nitpick such a great presentation but your background music could have been just a smidge lower. 🙂

My father's family settled in 26:29 northcentral Kansas after immigrating from Russia in the early 1800's. My father grew up in Lawrence. My parents both attended KU. My mother attended archeological digs. I was born in Lawrence, moving to Topeka when I was about 4. I remember going to the plains to see the Oregon Trail wagon ruts. We moved to Arkansas when I was 7. My grandmother lived in Lawrence until she passed away. My dad returned and still lives in Lawrence. 27:45 27:54

Is there any way to purchase a digital or bluray/dvd copy of this for gifts? I just caught the end of it on PBS and Loved it. I was lucky enough to live out in Scott City so, I saw many of the Western Kansas places long before some were even open for public view. It's gorgeous out there. As well as the rest of Kansas. This state needs to promote itself better! So many only think of us as the fly over state and the flat state. I always respond with a No it isn't flat. You need to get I off the interstates if you really want to see everything that is Kansas. I'm lucky, I've seen a great part of it, but even still at age 68 I still have so much more to see. The problem now is that I'm just not able to do the hiking and walking that I used to. That's why I'd love to be able to purchase this for myself and for family who can no longer do the hiking either.

Great show. Love Kansas and am currently in the midst of an all-county tour of the state. If I could make one suggestion; the background music should be background music. Instead, it was as loud or louder than the narration. When it went quiet, like when transitioning to a different song, there was almost a sense of relief that the din had quieted.

Plenty of places I've yet to visit since I've been living here. I guess I just wish there were more to do for my interests..Like more places togo Rockhounding, or camping, swimming, hiking etc.. O.K., I will quit whining! Your cinematography is a visual feast!! Love to see what you could do with Iowa!!
