From the Leftoverture 40th Anniversary Tour. Recorded live from front row Loge at the State Theatre in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on November 18, 2017. An iPhone X 4K video.
I forget where I read it, but there was a concert when Kansas opened for Rush, that Neil approached Phil and asked him about the off time signature during at around the 6:50 or so mark, and Phil said "you just keep counting '1,1-2,1-2-3,1-1, 1' " or something to that effect. Take that in: The Professor..asking Phil.... Wow
@@carlsylvester425 Starts at 6:19. Ehart explained that the sticking is actually simple (123 12 3, 123 12 3), but confused a lot of people (including Peart) because of the counter-rhythm being played at the same time.
Not that there's ANYTHING to dislike..but notice there are ZERO thumbs down? This was ASTOUNDING. There was; nothing.....ZERO....lost from the album. Such a great song!
Thing that kills me about all this is how the guys can keep all those ridiculously intricate parts straight in their heads. I die if I don't have sheet music in front of me. :D
@@zackscruggs4543 The riffs are pretty solid too, they're comparable to many prog and tech death metal bands today in terms of complexity and odd timing.
According to setlist.fm, the band has played this song 251 times live, but I guess you have to factor in that not every member was constant. After doing it that many times, it gets essentially ironed into your head, not to mention that they're all really stellar musicians.
