Yes I agree this gentleman really spent a lot of time saving these old treasures!! I had so much fun just looking around at all the old treasures! Thank you for watching and commenting! Rob
Wow it's fantastic that the gentleman with the barn saved all this and then sold it to you and you can carry on maintaining history. Of course you can sell some of it and others can help me maintain the history giving you other opportunities to see these signs and gas cans and what have you in person. The fina can, you could reach out to the bad Chad channel he's in the process of wrapping up a truck that does many things. One it gives a nod and pays homage to the fina company. The mobile gas cans bring back a lot of memories! We used to drill Wells and the gas tank for the well drilling rig was about a foot and a half or two above the cab. The top of the cab was over 6 ft from the ground. I would hold these 5-gallon cans at first half empty or less and dump them into the tank! While the machine river is running. Over time I got to the point where I take four or five gallon cans full up there set them on the tank and dump them in and I guarantee you I didn't spill one drop. My old man was running the rig while I was doing this. If you knew him you knew that he was cheap enough not to spill a single drop nor would I parrot you know as odd as it is I miss those days and thanks for bringing back to memories. Another episode showing the history of both automotive and support industries and their histories. Thank you for sharing
Thank you for sharing the story about having to fuel up your Dad’s drilling rig up high using five gallon cans like the mobile cans! Great memories for you! I have watched Bad Chad’s videos and I must say he has a gift and talent to design, fabricate, and transform vintage vehicles into running works of art. I think of him at times wondering what he could build from parts or parts vehicles I see laying in the fields I explore. I will look up his channel and look at the truck you mentioned he is wrapping up. Was it fuel delivery branded Fina? Thanks again for watching and sharing your comments here. Rob
Thanks Nolan, It was very interesting how I got your phone number from a person and called you that night when I was rolling into your town. When you heard my voice over the phone and asked if I was Gas Pump Rob from RU-vid I was shocked. Thanks for having me over to see your incredible collection and for selling my some neat signs. Thank you for taking me around your town showing me many historical car dealership buildings and gas stations. That was fun! See you again soon. Rob
I think you've highly-developed that 'nose' for the kinds of places you almost know will have at least something worthwhile. How many times when driving around do you say, "I bet you that place has got stuff...."
Once a year for the last twenty years I have taken a road trip from California to Iowa and have stopped in smaller rural towns asking people if they know anyone with old stuff that I enjoy seeing and possibly have a chance to purchase. I have been blessed to have met some very nice people and have developed friendships over the years . Thanks for watching and commenting on my videos. Rob
