KANTARA Movie Reaction Part 3/3 & Review! | Rishab Shetty | Kishore Kumar G | Achyuth Kumar 

The "Woah" is not a gimmick. It is a genuine word / sound in Tulu. It is usually a response to being called. If someone were to call you from a distance, you would respond with a "Woah". The possessed performers just do it in a loud sound as if reflecting the power of the Spirit possessing them. Also, in their case it is also used as a multipurpose monosyllabic response to all words directed to them. It is kind of like a "Yeah, I am listening" or "I am with you".

ACHARA KIRK is the heart and soul of this channel. Proper, Authentic , Genuine & real reactions . Bcoz she understands quickly than anyone else. A woman with high IQ.

An interesting aspect many people forgot to notice was that the sword used by Guliga in the end to hit the landlord is the same sword that the King dropped when he discovered Panjurli centuries ago. Equalling the very betrayal shown by the King’s lineage using the King’s weapon

We north Indians (as a UP guy) r so grateful to our South Indian brothers for keeping the culture alive and trust me guys we all cried when the Deva came into action in the climax scene. It just feels like a movie that represents me although my state and culture is nowhere close to bhoota kola. I never even heard this term before this movie. Good job guys

I'm a Muslim but I read this somewhere that the reason Shiva disappeared at the end was because He already died during battle against landlord and Lord Guliga only gave him this life so he can continue his bloodline. Only specific bloodlines can be hosts for the spirit of Panjurli during Bhoota Kola (The festival), at the end you can see Leela is pregnant so the purpose of Shiva's life given by Lord Guliga is completed hence he vanishes. The attention to details by directors are immense in this movie if you actually pay attention to it!

What Kantara did was bring back that rooted connect which India was celebrated for. Amidst the renaissance of western influences in films in terms of film making techniques - Kantara comes as that perfect blend of modern cinematic making and the cultural ethos of our native land. Rishab Shetty's climax portion was not a performance. I felt that it was divine intervention which was beautifully captured on film for eternity. What a film 👏👏

The story of Guliga is similar and involves Shiva, Parvati and banishment. Guliga was born from a stone. This stone was found by Parvati in a pile of ash, and when Shiva threw it in the water, it gave birth to Guliga. Guliga was sent to Vishnu to serve him, but due to his destructive nature, Vishnu cursed him to earth. Guliga had an uncontrollable hunger and he consumed everything in his way. Finally, his hunger was quenched when Lord Vishnu offered his little finger to be eaten. This finger has no starting and no end. Guliga became a daiva, a kshetrapala, and was assigned to protect land and its inhabitants. According to lore, Panjurli and Guliga fought over the same land and even engaged in a battle over it, but eventually entered into a truce after goddess Durga intervened. Later, Guliga became a close companion and even a worshipper of Panjurli. Hence, the two daivas are worshipped together. Here, we see a union of two local cults.

What I have learned from my experiences is that how you end up feeling about a movie very much depends on the person you are watching it with. Achara could understand many nuances but because Jaby couldn't, she ended up focusing on the things she didn't like during the review. As somebody who watched the movie reading subtitles, I felt that the subtitles were much easier to grasp than most South Indian movies with fast dialogues. I feel sad for Jaby that he couldn't understand the magic of the climax. I have never seen an actor act that way in my life, he truly became the demigod. I don't think we will ever get to witness something like this in a movie again.

The last 15 minutes in theatre was on whole another level experience 🔥🙌🏻 Rishab Shetty nailed it❤️

Couple of points to Add: 1. Those ppl who do bootha koola are from a particular community called AJALE. 2. If a child is born on somvar his name will be Soma, shukravar then his name is Shukre.... in this move his name is Guruva which means he was born on Guruvar aka Thursday. 3. When during the avahan of bootha , the person will talk lalguages which is doesn't know. I.e if the persons mother tongue is Tulu, once he is on bootha kola he will talk in kannada also which that person never know. 4. Couple of instances where the bootha has run and never found. So these days we form human chain and not allow it to run from the place. 5. These has been many instances when someone when and asked justice with bootha the culprit dies on the steps of the court vomitting blood . 6 booth are part of nature which humans have to understand that there are many things in this world which is not accessible to humans with his 5 senses. 7. BOOTHA means: Bootha means elements . Pancha bootha. Also means TIME. Bootha: means past Varthaman: present Bavishyath: future. So if u see all these bootha were actually from the PAST = in bootha kaaal. So they could be know as bootha. They all left the body untimely.( none of these bootha died naturally or of old age). Due to which they have not received new body and these spirits still live in these forest and places to protect Dharma. They were Living with Darmha when they had Body and they contulinue to do so, but noe in diff dimension of time. They might stay in these places for some more centuries and then leave....

Few comments: 1) Pinching scene: The hero and heroine knew each other since childhood. There was a level of familiarity between them. The director doesn't attempt to virtue signal on what an ideal way to approach a girl should be. In real world, things like these happen. 2) Demigod saying Woah repeatedly: Again that is the way bhootas interact in actual bhoota kolas at my place. The director attempts to showcase it realistically with no cinematic blemishes. 3) You are right about this movie was not made with you in mind. Rishabh made this movie for kannada audience. It became popular through word of mouth and he was literally pressured to dub it into other Indian languages. Even in India, you will find two types of audiences- a) Those who have seen such rituals at their villages b) Those who have grown in cities and have no practical experience with such rituals. The latter tend to view this movie as a movie critic whereas the former do not view it as a movie but as a celebration of their native experiences.

Considering the budget of this movie (15-20cr), the action, cinematography, set design were actually very good🔥

The fact Shiva always used to get more agressive and usually started the fights throughout the movie and when the final battle began he stood there in disbelief feeling nothing....he was truly changed after the forest incident when he left the landlord's home 👍

I like the way Achara understands the Indian cinema and is able to grasp the scenes , the ideas behind the scenes ; even though the languages of the Indian films is completely different for her ! Not everyone can easily get attached with the film/s, the culture here just by reading the subtitles of the film/s !

Jaby, the reason that film was successful was that movies which are respectful about such beliefs are NOT made anymore in India! They are mocked. And this specific belief is actually an extant one in the Malabar belt...every family and village has a deiva they worship. Therefore, this movie took off because people loved that their culture has been treated in a culturally RELEVANT and positive manner.

* Long comment alert.. * One thing about Rishab Shetty's films i really love.. Every scene, every dialogue serves a purpose.. For instance, 1) the kid in start winks at the girl nd she smiles, its not shown simply.. Its to show they knew each other since childhood.. 2) The names of certain characters connected with their behavior or stuff they do.. Like Shiva has a treehouse named Kailasa which is actually like the home of Lord Shiva.. His friend named Bulla, who's always with him doesn't hesitate to come forward nd protect him during any fight, is a reference to Nandi (the Bull god) who is actually the protector of Lord Shiva.. 3) The scenes where Shiva misbehaves are the nights he gets those nightmares coz its trying to remind/show him his true purpose but after seeing his father disappear, he's grown to be too scared of it which is why he always ran away from it.. That's why in the climax he finally tries to understand why it happens to him nd then finds the purpose of it.. 4) The subtle depiction of caste system where landlord sits on a chair nd villagers on the ground or the fact that villagers are not allowed to step inside landlord's house.. 5) There's only a certain family of ppl that can perform the kola rituals which passes on generation after generation, not anyone can perform it.. (Even Rishab Shetty actually took permission from the demigod Panjurli to play this character nd wear the demigod costume) 6) Also the fireworks are handled by a muslim coz mostly in costal regions its the muslims who make the fireworks.. 7) Panjurli is painted in yellow nd guliga is painted in black which is why he falls on a sort of black soil in the climax

“Whoaa” is a single syllable used by the demigod to communicate. Rishab Shetty explained in an interview that earlier that was the only way they communicated.. and a “whoa” comes in different ways to communicate different things. Also, now it seems the demigod’s communication is much more descriptive. I agree this movie is not for an Audience like Jaby. I saw an African react to this movie and he totally related to everything in the movie..it was quite surprising to me that a foreigner related to it so much. I think this movie was mostly for Kannadigas, maybe South Indians and some people from the North India.. others have gone too literal into the technicalities. But for us this movie is not about technicalities but the spiritual experience we had. My parents, I and my husband actually teared up at the end of the movie.. everyone in the theatre was numbed

Imagine not witnessing this in a theatre. It was wild. Back where I stay, the entire theatre gave a standing ovation at the end. An absolute masterpiece.

''Kanthara Climax'' It remains forever iconic in the history of indian cinema. It literally gives goosebumps without any language barrier💥💥

The last climax scene is dope. His acting is top notch.

Not gonna lie when god woke him up was crazy, literally goosebumps

For a guy who is engaged in indian content for over 5 years, it is surprising Jaby doesn't get the nuances and sub text of Indian movies that well. He mostly observes and understands only action, songs and high level metro emotions which isn't a lot. I am not saying he should like this movie or any for that matter, but he doesnt get the premise of the movie and what it tries to convey. With out understanding that one is inept to review and assess positives and negatives. Achara on the other hand gets it right most of the time and increasingly getting better but at time either succumbs to mansplaining or she comes into the peer pressure of agreeing with the partner. Achara - stay true to your point of view and don't yield. Jaby - Sharpen your emotional quotient. Not saying you need to become emotional but need to be open enough to understand movie's emotion. As some one said, hollywood is about story first and then the emotion. For Indian movies story is just a platform to show case the emotion. Btw, I am not trolling here.. just a healthy and constrcutive criticism.

If you may know the Forest Officer's role is played by the same actor who played Pasha in Family Man Season 1... So, Rishab Shetty's casting team has picked the best ones... What a story! What a movie!

When Shiva reunited with his father both looked so happy and started enjoying and that beautiful varaha roopam melody in the background it seriously got me 😭

Jaby & Achara, some subtle messages in movie: 1. Promise for humanity to protect nature (forest) and you will have peace (affluence) 2. Hero was boar hunting constantly and forest officials trying to stop. So hero was villain, until the end and forest officer was on the side of god 3 towards the end hero (performer) puts villagers hand in the hands of officer.. meaning govt is protecting nature so is doing the right thing. 4 demigod is varha meaning boar. Message to villagers is that respect boars (respect and live in harmony with wildlife)

Out of all the movies jaby has watched, this might be the movie he least understood... But ironically this is the movie which was most near to the real culture/rituals and very dear and deeply connected to people...

For me, so when he disappeared at the end, it meant that he went into the ethereal realm. Which also means that all those visions of his father throughout the movie were not just visions but actual visitations by his dad from ethereal world. Hence, I believe that it didn't matter he disappeared with his wife still being pregnant cuz his son is the bloodline who will become the soothsayer and will have visitations from his dad to show him his path. The rest of the land grab story all faded and didn't matter to me cuz this spiritual layer of the story was quite satisfying for me.

"Varaha roopam" song just hits different after the climax scene🔥🔥 I left the theatre with a heavy heart,i never felt like this watching any movie before!!! It was total worth it,although I made it quite late to watch it(almost 3 weeks after its release in Hindi)

This movie hits hard to those people who belong to tulunadu (costal Karnataka) people .to feel the movie you need to have basic knowledge about the demi gods worshipped here This movie is based on true aspects ...loved your reviews as the thoughts of some one whoes not into these practices 💜💜

Almost every village in India has a Kshetrapala Daiva i.e; Village Guardian/protector God. Kantara brings so much with it that cannot be written under one comment. All I can say is that Thankyou Rishab Sir for making this movie. Sanatan Dharma ki Jai🙏🏻

Every time I see the Climax….. I always get tears in my eyes by the impact of it.

I'll tell you guys an explanation of why he disappeared at the end. During the fight he had already died. But Guliga gave him a boon to take revenge from the landlord and also after Guruva's death somebody had to perform the Bhuta Kola. Also he was going to have a child which means that there would be a successor to him who would further perform the Bhuta Kola. So Shiva was technically dead but he was given an extension of his life by Guliga. Now all the above mentioned purposes were over so he had to go.

It's okay Jaby..... i loved it that u watched the movie finally.... This movie is probably more relevant to some specific regions in India and in this movie it was related to the coastal regions of Karnataka. This whole concept of demigod doesn't necessarily mean magic or anything it's something that we probably can't express in English. It's something that can only be experienced in person, the whole atmosphere that's created and the out of body experience u feel in the presence of such a power is kind of therapeutic. You feel more emotionally recharged and positive once you meet such a powerful being. I just can't tell you how we actually feel.

12:22 About the end where shiva disappears, well, he did not just disappear, he literally ascended from a human to a demigod, like his father did. its depends on how much you can drop you own ego or worldly identity, and how much you can get in-tune with your demigod. That is how devotees in hindu culture attain mukthi - nirvana or salvation. Devotees should get so obsessed with their god that they empty themselves completely and fill their mind and emotion with their god, so that eventually, they literally merge with their god. Even his father did not just disappear, he’s very much present in that forest, in form of a wild boar, or quite literally as panjurli daiva himself. Only thing is he’s not a physical being any more, he’s an immortal demigod whos not visible to naked eye, but very much there (like a ghost, for a lack of terms in English). His father is protecting the whole village, working in mysterious ways, subtly making things happen and bringing things together at perfect timing, to resolve this land issue once in for all. If you listen carefully to anytime the demigod speaks, you can see the big picture and how it all adds up and makes sense at the end. Also notice that, On a Physical level, shiva or the villagers, can do only so much. Coz you cannot win by just brute force, there is always someone stronger than you (like the guy in black). But a demigod (kshethrapala) can go beyond physical limitations and get things done. 19:02 regarding that bulls being the actual winners, and applying that to the land issue, whoz the real owner of the land ? Villagers say they own it coz they’ve been living there for millennias. Landlord says he owns it, coz his ancestors (the king) originally owned it. Government says they own it, coz its their responsibility to protect and preserve the forests. BUT ALL OF THEM ARE WRONG. That forest belongs to GOD (forest spirits or demigod). EVERY SINGLE ONE of the above people, try to claim ownership, are actually living under the mercy of the forest itself and the demigod that governs it. If they all realize this fact, this pointless quarreling would not exist - that’s what shiva’s father says to his son at the beginning remember? 20:35 fatherless child, well not really, coz his father (shiva) is a LITERAL DEMIGOD now. He can protect his child throughout his life in a MUCH BETTER WAY than a physical human father. That’s what shiva’s own father did with shiva. Let me explain. The visions / dreams / jump scares / that shiva keeps getting throughout the movie, Notice that whenever shiva is doing something wrong, he’s father visits / scares him as a warning. Example: helping the landlord have an affair - demigod (father) appears to him. Hunting boars - demigod (father) appears to him. Cuts giant tree and almost kills the officer. Goes into hiding in forest - demigod appears as a wild boar and scares him. Shiva is a bad person, for real. he has ALL kinds of bad habits, drinking, hunting, womanizing, starting fights, cutting trees, vandalizing. But his father(demigod) constantly and subtly guides shiva throughout his life, and finally leads him to LIBARATION - mukthi. The is so much more that I’m not saying here. This movie is soooo deep, one needs to watch it MULTIPLE TIMES to get all the nuances. and yeah, the one hand namaskaram is a thing in india for sure.. if someone has something in one hand, but they still really wanna pay respect by doing namaskaram (usually to a higher officer, or respected elder, or local authority) they do it with one hand, yes. like a quick, half-ass namaskaram. 😅😅😅

Huge respect for Rishabh Shetty.❤. In Himalayan states of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand also called as"Dev bhoomi" such rituals and traditions are followed from centuries and this movie is close to our heart. My wish is to go Kantara once in my life to see the culture.Marvelous way of representing.❤ 🙏.

In the last scene Shiva disappeared with his father coz he was actually killed by the tall man in the fight but Guliga revived him for 2 reasons 1. Guliga could only possess Shiva to teach them a lesson (its an ancestral thing) 2. Shiva could spend a lil more time with his family before he disappears

Kantara feels more like a folktale than a movie for us indians , and thats a great thing . Rishab Shetty managed to compliment the story with his direction . Overrall its a great movie , but sadly many people are overhyping it too

*Though the god is not within him but pretending that God is there within himself and acting is very very difficult.Rishab nailed it.Only those who experienced the climax scene in theatres will have the exact feel of the scene* 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

The story is more interesting when u know about Demi God Lord Panjurli and Lord Guliga.And their relation with Supreme God

The reason why Siva disappeared at the end after having his wife pregnant was that Siva was a goner long back and whatever remained after the climax fight was not actually Siva but Varahamurthi/Gulikan version the Demigod itself!

No popular actor in Bollywood,no Khan, no Kapoor will ever play a role like Rishab Shetty did. If this movie wasn't released same year as RRR I'm sure it would have made Oscar buzz.

It was necessary to have a romance angle in this film because the divine dance (bhoota kola) is done by a single family line as both the brothers were killed so there was no one to continue it that's why when he was dead and lord guliga came inside his body he gives him second life but once she got pregnant he took that life back this was also the reason he disappeared also

Jaby ,where ever u see in Asian culture India,china,Japan,Thailand,Vietnam we find ppl combined both hands to respect the other or to greet lyk shaking hands in western culture .Where as single handed greet is from Middle East,Arab culture lyk salamalekum,khuda Hafiz etc..

He died in the last scene, no human can survive what happened to him, then the God comes inside of him and he fights and protects the forest and then goes in the forest to become the soul of forest (disappears)

The last part were like he calls the officer ,the new landlord and the wise older people takes a promise that everyone will protect and love the land .......very emotional 😢

I live around these traditions and practices which even my family follow to some extent and see it very regularly. One awe factor addition to all that you’ve noticed is the precision in the detailing of these traditions that he’s put. Like the regular kola sequence all the 3 times were quite apt. When the workshop fight happens, you might have noticed his hair being cut by sword, which actually is a tradition where you cut your hair for one last time before you take up daiva chakari. And the way he hugs into the soil and takes it with him is the exact way daiva hugs into the arechnut flowers. The way he climbs up the roof is also similar to the way it happens in real. I’m actually sad that only we the locals can cherish the accuracy of it. Also the hunting traditions where the property owner gets one leg of the boar and the rifle owner gets one is still a practiced culture even though done illegally. I wouldn’t recommend calling it a superstition. I prefer calling it the Indian science where you have a medium to have conversation with the gene specific Spirits that guides the genetic lineage of the person who invited the God to stay with his family few centuries ago.

The success of Kantara in India can probably be understood by the following points:- Indian audience is fed up of bollywooid copies of western movies. Becoz of covid and availability of movies from all over the world on Netflix and other OTT platforms, Indians have realised that so much was getting copied from them and they now appreciate original content more. Secondly, this movie celebrates what till now was being popularized as backward . It celebrates Indian rituals and beliefs and takes pride in doing so. This resonates with the current mood of the nation. Thirdly, it shows the tribals happy even if they are poor. The way India has been portrayed in western movies is of a poor nation, sad and frustrated. This movie shows that the tribals are enjoying their life the way it is. Adjusted to all the difficulties and still happy and taking pride in their identity. This is new and refreshing. Indians now want their children to stop running towards westernized ideas and lose their identity. This copying started with Bollywood movies and now these south movies and stars are bringing back the pride of being Indian , with all the flaws or problems that are there. Lastly, even though India has so many languages and dieties worshipped in different parts of the country, This connection with a diety and the diety entering the body of a worshipper is very much common in all. Like in north, even today, when godess Durga is worshipped all night, if she is believed to enter in the body of one of the worshipper, people stand with hands folded. So Indians of all states/beliefs connected with the story.

Difference between watching this movie at home and theatre is like watching a lion in zoo and jungle.

That 5 minutes was a "DIVINE" performance ❤❤❤❤

Beauty is in beholders' eyes :). To understand the movie, one needs to understand the local issues - especially in the 90s, cultural aspects (which even the people in the state cannot fully comprehend), dichotomy / duality of the characters and the mythology behind it, yoga, attention to detail and so much more.

As the ending is kept open, what I think.... Shiva actually died in the final fight, he was revived by demigod Lord Guliga and the fight was concluded. By reviving him, Lord Guliga granted him some extra life time (period to live) to do good deeds for the village, stop the hunting and deforestation he had been carried out throughout the movie and live up to his parents expectations and carry on the ancestorial ritual of "Bhoota Kola", and so he did as expected. Once his extra life time granted to him was over, he met his father and both together departed to the journey of afterlife.

The Thing I liked too was that the Villain in this movie was grounded. Both the assumed villain (The Forest Officer) and the actual Villain (The LandLord) both were grounded and almost looked like they were right at their place and later big-hearted until they reached the true depth of each of their characters revealing the intent of their behaviour. The Cop came up with the Humane nature and the Landlord with the Inhumane nature. I liked how it was placed. Nice writing and execution!

The romance is consequential because the tradition is kept alive by the lineage of the people who are possessed. The pregnancy just meant that there is someone left behind to keep it alive

This story was so much appreciated because you will find stories of such different demigods in almost every village of rural India and even in many parts of Asia too. They are worshipped in variety of manners . That is why people felt connected to this movie because it so unapologetically portrayed the beliefs without trying to find possible logic behind these rituals. An outsider might try to make sense of this but in truth for the followers these rituals are extreme truth which are going on for centuries. This scientific approach and logical thinking concepts have been just discovered recently so they still have extreme lengths to cover in order to even get a clue about why these customs are being followed for centuries.

When she said dad ....that shows how connected she is to story .... It was pure reaction from her ❤️

This is one of the masterpiece... It depicts the true Indian beliefs that still in many areas in Hindu religion they worship the demigod that protects their land and their people. For example in Bihar state the god called "bhuiya" god of thr land. They worship the god..and during the prayer the god comes on one of the priest and it behaves just like it is displayed in the the movie. ... Simply amazing ... !!!

Shiva died when strong guy broke his neck...after that it was lord guliga...when that strong guy tried to choke him again lord guliga mocked him "you can't kill who's alredy dead"

Achara is acting with Rishab Shetty in her Kannada/Indian movie debut called Bachelor party...It's set in Thailand so yeah...All the best Achara ❤️

This movie is so down to the roots tht every Indian will feel related to it. The possession of humans by demigods is shown to perfection here and can be seen throughout India from North to South & East to West. The way people folded their hands at the end is so relatable & realistic tht I can relate to while sitting here in my hometown Bhaderwah situated in the foothills of Himalayas.

As far as the “superstitions” in the movie is concerned, it doesn’t really matter if you’re a sceptic or not. The movie definitely makes you want to believe that all of it actually does happen in the world of the movie. Exactly why the climax is more enjoyable if you’re either a believer or not.

Kantara 2 would be the most awaited movie in coming years

I don't understand Kannada but just for that last Bhoot kola Varah Roopam song and music I watch Kantara almost everyday...it is so evaporating and pure thing. World must watch and tske learning from Kantara...how to respect nature.

I hope you realized that the sword he picks up from the soil was the same sword the king had dropped when he prayed to the stone in the beginning. It has all come a full circle to the King's family.

Guys remember Shiva had died in the final battle by strangulation. It was Guliga deva in his body till his disappearance, when he meets his demigod friend and mentor Panjurli in the forest.

The climax is the best bit of acting, I have ever seen ! This is what movies are suppose to be!

This movie reminds me of a power which is way beyond the human. Always bow down to that power and never consider yourself above anything. I remember people, including myself getting chills in the theatre watching this masterpiece. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

As a north indian, nothing made sense to me as well at first. I was like what was the hype all about? But as I'm getting to know the culture and watching certain scenes again, I'm being filled with reverence and also pride for having such energies on the land of India. Even north Indians have demi gods like this for forests and rivers but we don't hear many incidents or rituals related to them as north seems to be more separated from our traditions. I now have more respect and reverence for my own kuldevi(demigoddess) and also other energies that my community prays to.

Thats actually a thing.. all villages in India have a "Kul Devta" or village God and he/she is the protector of the village. We do have our own Kuldevta who comes to rescue of the village in times of need.. you can see people dancing like this in important events. Story is from south but same happens in North as well like in Uttrakhand where I am from or Himachal Pradesh etc.

This was the first Kannada film I saw in the theatre and I was blown away by the brilliance and story telling. I then went on to watch it again the theatre and then few more times on the OTT. One of the finest films from India..!

I love how he showed the title of the movie at the end where he killed landlord. He didnt show God killing him and took all that blood and gore thing out. Its like a legend story that is always among folks that God is the protector. The sword that he used to kill landlord is the same sword that King left in front of the God at start of the movie. There are very few creators who go on to link amd connect these small dots and details. Bollywood doesnt have charm left. Its sad.

Given the entire budget of the movie is just a little over 2 million USD., I think its come out fantastic and superb. Overall direction, acting, cinematography and editing is to be appreciated a lot. Hats off to the entire team of Kantara. Whooooa!

This film is film along thumbad, asuran, kharnan, jalikattu, periyerum perimal and etc. Very cultural driven film. This how rural india is. Happy achara could understand the movie better because thailand has rural culture and folklore. Jaby you did great job. I know it not your cup tea film. But thank you for opening to more Indian culture. It easy to understand Bollywood because Bollywood very straight forward film. It has one goal. But south indian film are very cultural driven and complex. But thank you for your time.

If someone didn't understand the ending - why shiva disappeared it was because his life was granted back to him by the God , as he doesn't have a son to carry on the tradition as the performers son can only performan after him ... And once his wife become pregnant , the god called him back

It's not actually a idea conceptualized or made by the movie 😅 It's a movie made out of folklore. Please dive into this world! The folklore is present in almost all parts of the world, Hailing from Malabar region in Kerala, our folklore is that the 'demigods' are protectors of the underprivileged. Fighting for the lower casts and villagers frm anyone who challenges their life, mostly landlords, etc. As rightly shown in Kantara. Loved the film!

The soundscape was noteworthy and I'd like to listen to Kantara again more attentively. Love it how the Hindu deity puts man in temporary care of the Earth for others, even the lowest caste, whilst the Abrahamic deity gives man selfish dominion over the Earth. Hindu dieties and their beliefs are more subtle and in keeping with modern times than a dull western Abrahamic obsessed with itself. I would love to see more back and forward stories about the Panjurli & Guliga deities. Marvel take note!

Just had the opportunity to attend the BHOOTA KOLA in our family 2 days back. What a ceremony it is. The way they have depicted in the movie makes it want to watch this live. and its worth entire night.

I am from uttarakhand .here there is also such things happen where demigods and god protect an area. And similar dance kind of activity happens wheredemigods and gods dance and guide people it is known as jaggar or jagri . Uttarakhand is known as dev bhoomi many such unsual miracle happens here . We can relate to kantara a lot
