Hey guys, there are some questions we asked regarding this song in this video, hope you guys might be able to answer them for us, would be really nice to know these things about the song and dance and what they are wearing and everything else about it, thank you ❤️🙏
This tradition is praticed in many parts of India maybe in world too No one knows how it started .The dance is called nema Or kola and worshipping of spirits are called dhivaradhane . And those spirits are called dhivas . The thing they hold in their hand wear ( anklets) are called gaggara. The person who wears the paint and jewel are called patri . The torch he's holding in his hands are called gettigae. The some name of Dhivas are Panjurli, guliga ,mantradevathe ,pilli chamundi . When patri getshis painting done and comes near the dhivas his body gets pocessed by dhivas and he start doing things normal human can't do. He will start to predict or guide the believers, solve any kind of dispute and problems Only some caste has the right to wear those jewellery of dhivas and paint of dhiva . In dakshina kannada Or udupi they are almost equal to gods themselves.there is a wonderful saying in our place, it goes like this "If gods leave our hands or doesn't solve problems or abonden us dhivas will hold the hands, they will not abonden their believers.
Thumping on chest means Daiva (god) saying to people that he will always be with us & not to worry. An absolute connection to celebrate between man nature & god.
And when daiva moves his right hand from his left to right in semi circle and then directs it towards his chest, and then makes signs that you are our children, it means this land/universe is our (god's) creation and tou are our children, we nurture you. Many such gestures which imply that you are on this land for a temporary period. So remain humble. If the koladhari is good, it's a great experience
It's called the Bhuta Kola ritual or spirit worship. Quite an intense experience to attend I've heard. It happens in parts of southern Indian parts of Tulu Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala. My mom insisted last week, and we went to theatre to watch the movie. Pure goosebumps moments till the end!! Thanks for reacting:)
In kerala it's called gulikan with white coconut leaf and chases everybody with fire or stick and it's hilarious to watch that and in northern part of kerla I don't know exact where I forgot their demigod for lord Shiva and it's called muthappan muthappan blessed even dogs it's so heartwarming to watch every thing that reach muthappan for help even without human or animals here I will not say about religion because at that there is no religion every living being in the world
@@MagicFlicks Watch it soon.. I am not even lying I was unable to move for the last 30 mins. Felt like i was experienced a godly thing which i have never did earlier
It's a ritual performed within a family. I might sound superstitious. Before 10 years back we thought our family lived only in 8 houses. But, during this ritual, we got to know that My great grandfather ran away from his home & lived in the place we are living now. Later some of the elders from our family went to the root family of ours and found out that information got during the rituals are true. Now we have big family of more than 20+ houses. So, during the rituals all families must get together to perform.
You should definitely check out the movie also available in Hindi for sureet😆 . Thank you for reacting to it on the special Occasion of Kannada Rajyotsava 💛❤️
@@MagicFlicks Don't watch the movie in hidi dubbed the voices sucks. watch it in kannada or atleast Telugu which is another nearest language to it. unfortunately this is not dubbed in Sanskrit
@@MagicFlicks This is basically a folklore which is practiced in some Tribal part of India. (Similar tradition is practiced in different ways across different parts rural India.) In this tradition which is organised once every year, a person of the village takes form of Demigod (a god, protector of that village, a tribal Demigod, here the demiGod is considered as Lord Boar, who are considered as a form of the Lord Vishnu (Supreme lord in Hinduism)). The person dresses like Demigod, practices to be like ascetics for months. On the day of the occasion, people of whole village believe that there is Lord Boar inside the body of ascetic person who is dressed like that. The whole villegers worship the demigod, and offers him offerings. The villagers even asks the demigod to give solution to some of their problems. These traditions are still widely practiced across the tribal parts of India. This tradition is at the center of the story of this film... And thus the director have beautifully shown this tradition in the film and song.
Bhoota Kola( Bhootha Aradhane) is the name of this festival. It is performed in Tulunadu( some parts of Karnataka & Kerala). The people dressed in costume believed to have temporarily became god himself and answers to people problems and give them hope that God is with them. You should definitely see the movie. Both the movie and the concept of Divine are great at their own place. You will feel different when you see both together. Love you reactions...🔥🔥
Guliga &Panjurli represent two divine demi Gods Guliga is dark and Panjurli is fair .They are worshipped by the simple and innocent people of South Kanara ,a coastal district of the state of Karnataka .The two gods assure these folks that they are there to protect their lands and crops from avaricious landlords, wild Animals, injustice etc. They intern are affiliated to Lord Manjunatha of Dharmasthala which is the Divine temple town of the Jain Heggade Family .
@@anirudhlakshmeesh I don't know about all the details about ragas and old kannada music and all . Then u show from where navarasam was copied. @@MagicFlicks Būta Kōlā, also referred to as daiva kōlā or nēmā, is an animistic ritual dance performance prevalent among Hindus of Tulu Nadu and parts of Malenadu of Karnataka and Kasargod in northern Kerala, India. The dance is highly stylized and held in honor of the local deities worshiped by the Tulu speaking population. It has influenced Yakshagana folk theatre. Būta kōlā is closely related to Theyyam of neighbouring Malayalam-speaking populations. This tradition is followed in Mangalore(Karnataka), Native place for actors like Rakshith Shetty, Rishab Shetty , Shilpa shetty , Aishwarya Rai , Sunil shetty and many more Celebrities .. Also like to tell you that , I love your genuine reaction on culture of India . Phir be Dil ❤ hé Hindustani 🤗😍
This song was actually copied directly from Thaikkudam Bridge's song called Navarasam. Thaikkudam has lodged a complaint against this and the case is still going on. But still I respect good music. Kudos to Kantara team for making this song.
You'll be even more stunned if you watch the whole movie and the setting in which that song plays. The last 15 mins of this movie is just breath-taking and beyond anything ever seen on the silver screen.
What about the first fifteen minutes when the audience first sees the Daiva. Why isn't anyone talking about it?? I have never experienced anything like that when the music and visuals hit my consciousness...
This is the true indian culture you guys will fall in love with the movie especially Rishabh Shetty acting in last 15 mins it's like insane i did even literally blink for straight 15 mins holding my hands tightly my hands were literally numb🔱❤️
This movie is an experience of its own i have never seen such a powerful movie in my life ,im using the word powerful because i was captured by it and made me bow down to this masterpiece . It completely tells the story of how Hindus believe in their gods it completely focused only in the belief that the people have .
Hi both...It's another Masterpiece movie from Kannada film industry.. You will have to watch this movie in the theatre. Initially the movie was released in kannada and through mouth talk and positive response this was released as a Pan India movie.
Waraya roopam ???? That's so bad ....its "Warah Roopam" ....warah means Boar , its REFERANCE to the Wild Boar Avatar of Vishnu....this woman looks like Indian.... but she talks as if she's a westerner .....can't even pronounce Warah properly .

This devotional and spiritual song is accompanied by a great instrumental music and the performance of the artistes reaches its peak and we go into a state of unconsciousness while listening to the song.💕 Thanks for your excellent response. 🙏
The movie will definitely give you some context nd understanding of the tradition and culture.. I get that its not available nearby but if you ever get a chance plz do try to watch it on a bigger screen just for the experience of it.. I watched it 3 times in theaters and all 3 times i had goosebumps and my hands were shivering especially after that climax!! It is really beautiful!! 🔥🔥
This movie is a masterpiece but sad for me to say that this song they copied without the permission of the real song makers reacts to the original song and you will find out with the whole album song this movie Kantara is made The real song is Navarasa means. 9 emotions and in that song about losing of state dances like kathakali You should watch and you will say it's a copy or not if you doubt and that song has subtitles in English It's a masterpiece of Thaikudam bridge music band I support that band because without their permission they use it, the music band Thaikudam bridge reaches the world level by their hardwork and their dedication for their music ,most of their songs are masterpiece Nb : I'm not telling this movie disgrace or I hate this movie I love this movie this movie shows the hidden and some unseen world of rituals in the positive way of our culture Hats Off to the writer and director for this movie but they say in an interview this movie is made from by the inspiration of Navarasa song by Thaikudam bridge it's quite possible to add that music in that movie but the mistake is they never ask for permission from them or give them credits it's sad I am a big fan of Thaikudam bridge for their music when we watch their songs we lose our words and we can't control our emotions The same kind of music is Navarasa you should watch it
The music genre here is folk fusion. Mixing folklores with metals. But being an Indian living in India, I learnt about Bhootha Kola only this year because of Kantara. What a splendid movie!
This is a service provided to Devine spirits in the form of dance called bhotga kola. It’s performed mainly between October till June I believe. There are many spirits with specific powers. The region kola is practised is in Tulu Nadu. Karnataka stata, further down the coast of Goa and before Kerala. The performance showed in the song is Panjurli and guliga daiva(spirit). It is believed the performers are processed by the spirit during performance. I am from the region and living in UK. Have seen it while growing up. Thanks Vivek
Those who are claiming copy .. understand that it's based on the same raga .. doesn't make it copy.. the band didn't invent carnatic music.. now you guys can f off .. leave us kannadigas alone. The Jealous mallus have abandoned their culture.. they are second class arabs at best and hence the hatred towards this movie.. we in coastal Karnataka have preserved the practice of kola and daiva aaradhane.
Not like that. We are not claiming it is not exact copycat. But it is truly inspired from kanthara. After seeing kantara movie in theatre, we thought that, it is composed by Thaikudam. Most of the people have same feeling who had watched navarasa. Thaikudam only want some credits. Finally they have won in court
Please watch the movie on #theatre and make a #Vlog also.. Trust me, people will love to see your Vlog on watching Kantara and Reaction immediately after it.. 🙏🙏🙏🙂🙂
This one type of Bhakti to express divine , great culture the musical magic the song itself giving great attention the soul of song is music tune is Magic.
tribal culture in south of india karnataka state ( Tulu region) Mangalore and udupi, kundapur region.. thumsup efforts worth more than Oscar's. I'm speechless about the music composition and vocals..visuals .. must watch 🎥
This is India the music is wonder I got struck in this song really, this song gave in Kick Great , Hero Performance in the movie is also great , hats of to him .
This is our culture which u will find no where on earth except India and this not limited to this rather each Indian state has their own cultures which will always astonish u with their rituals Proud to be a man of culture
Sir and Maam, i m a big fan of u both♥️🙂♥️ i loved ur reaction and the kinda respect u showed to our culture though it was something new to u guys, thare are many Indians who themselves don't respect or care about our culture. Since u were asking the story behind let me tell u We follow Santana dharma (Hinduism) in India, In our mythology, we have the Lord Vishnu with Dashavatara(ten forms) The 1st avtara(form): is the matsyavatara (fish form) they say that according to evolutionary science the life all started in water(aqua) this is the 1st form of life on earth as a fish.. Lord Vishnu was connected to the rear half of a fish. now let me not go deep into this because this part isn't important for our main story. The 2nd avtara (form): Is the kurmavtara( tortoise as amphibian form) like the creatures started moving on the towards the land from the waters. Again i won't explain in detail coz it has nothing to do with the main story. The 3rd form: Is the Varahavtara (varaha-boar roopam-form which is title of this song which u reacted) the mammalian life started with a boar.. early humans or humans in general can easily hunt wide variety of animals... but it's the hardest job to hunt a wild boar... it is the strongest of all.. the song name "Varaha roopam" which means the boar form.. in the vedio u must have seen those people with the colourful costume please do observe the top of their head they have a face of metallic boar which people worship. The story of the varaha roopam (boar form) goes like... let me 'summarise' Lord Brahma has 4 children those children went to meet Lord Vishnu at Vaikunt(which is lord vishnus resident) there were doorkeepers who stopped Lord brahmas children from entering inside because Lord vishnu was resting at that time. Lord Brahma’s sons were very angry with Jaya & Vijaya(door keeper) They cursed the door keepers that they would be born as humans on bhooloka(Earth) the doorkeepers pardon, but Lord Brahma’s sons didn’t listen. After hearing some noises, Lord Vishnu arrived at the spot. He apologized his guards.Lord Brahma’s sons told that now they cannot take back the curse and left the place. Lord Vishnu told Jaya and Vijaya that this curse could end only if both meet their death at his hands. The guards agreed to this. Later Jaya and Vijaya were born as brothers named Hiranyakashyap and Hiranyaksha. Hiranyaksha was immensely devoted to Lord Brahma. He worshipped Lord Brahma for many years and got the boon that no God, human, demons, animal, or beast would be able to kill him. So, Hiranyaksha became assured of his immortality through this boon.He started torturing people on Bhooloka(Earth) Hiranyaksha harassed the Devas & attacked Indra’s palace in heaven. All the Devas ran and hid in the caves of mountain ranges of Earth. He grabbed the Earth and submerged it in the Patal Loka. So, the Earth sank to the bottom of the ocean. Lord Vishnu got to know about this from brahma. So this made lord vishnu to take the 3rd avatara(form) Varaha roopa (boar form) he killed Hiranyaksha through this form and saved the Bhooloka(Earth). 'Panjurli' means offspring of a wild boar in 'tulu'( which is one of the indian languages)the divine spirit of a male wild boar worshipped as a part of Bhuta Kola, bhuta means spirit and kola means play it is indian dance/ritual which was (shown in this song and this movie). The story goes like In Tululand(land of the tulu speakers) many wild boars used to destroy cultivated crops of farmers and hence farmers started worshipping the spirits of wild boars. This was probably later absorbed in santana dharma (Hinduism)through the following story. As per Paddanas - in the ancient Tulu oral literature. Bhuta Worship in the form of Bhuta Kola(the one dressed up people and costume u saw in the vedio) in the Tululand some costals of karnataka also in some parts of kerala in India. Some believe and say that the origin of Bhuta worship(spirit worship) is to be older than santana dharma(Hinduism) itself. There are at least 350 different kinds of Bhutas(those costume dressed humans on which the spirts enter the body shown in song) discoverd till now. It is believed that the one There are priests who act as oracles or impersonators for the conveyance of the commands of these Bhuta kolas. If u want to ask any question about ur life or future to the daivas(the one with the makeup dressed with the coatume)in these kolas u can ask about ur future and anything about life. The answer which u get about ur future through these spirts becomes true.. u will realize this as u approach ur future. The one which u saw in the vedio is said to be the spirt of the boar which enter the ones who have wore the costume and dresses, this spirit is the one protecting that place. Sir u were speaking about the music yes! I think u will find indian film industry is crazy it mixes rock pop everything, guitar isn't our tradition they just aded rock to make it sound more modern and unique if u c in that way there are millions of songs in our Indian cinema which mixes languages, culture, instruments etc. And maam ur eyes are really sharp u said goa, and manglore they have great connections.. many goan speakers settled at manglore due to Portugal rule. Goa is at the north direction of karnataka and manglore(that place of this movie) is at the south of karnataka only thing is goa doesn't belong to karnataka but manglore does. Karnataka is like a bridge which connects these 2 places. But both these places lies at the coast of Arabian sea. Having my ancestors at the coasts i can say 1 thing throughout the coasts, there are similarities in the kinda god they pray the language, food, or their culture the worst part is Portugal ruled and destroyed the culture in goa but people still didn't give up and preserved the culture in coastals till today. That's y it was able to shoot this film and we all were able to c this trailer today. And if u want to c this spirt dance live u can come to manglore(karnataka) from December to may this takes place, don't feel scared of the spirit u can ask questions and seek ur blessings.❤ God bless ur fam❤ I hope such a big reply isn't irritating or disturbing u both i m sorry for that 😕☺️ i hope with time u will slowly understand what i explained. I hope i haven't made any mistake while i narrated u this story, i m sorry if i have made minor mistakes. I want to watch more of ur vedios. ♥️Love u #magicflicks
The worst thing you can do to an artist is to plagiarize his work, an artist may not get money, may not get attention, but what he always has to get is credit for his work. Very upsetting and shameless copying of the Song Navarasam :- Thaikuddam Bridge (2017) by B. Ajaneesh Loknath for the Movie Kantara, hope the courts and audience ensures that people who plagiarize get the punishment they truly deserve, not only for the theft, but mainly for destroying the initiative of the original creators in creating art.
Thank you both for a wonderful reaction and review 🙏I could literally feel the energy flowing through mind and body and I could see the same feeling within you both. Yes, #Kantara is traditionally rich and deeply rooted with Sanathana Dharma 🙏. Please read about Panjurli Daiva and Guliga Daiva, you will get to know that the whole plot of the movie is based on these two powerful Demigods. And Varaha is the third avatar of Shree Vishnu devatha🙏
