People saying he stole her vocals without asking, she doesn’t own the song she was singing, the person that wrote the song, B. Slade, legally owns the song and he confirmed that Kanye reached out to him for permission and he allowed it.
I believe people are separating the ownership of the song versus her vocals. Not saying that they should have asked her to be able to use the song, as she doesn’t own the song itself but that he maybe should have asked to use her vocals?
She doesn’t own the song but he used her vocals. She should at least be paid for performance rights at least. I think this would be the right thing to do.
But the words he sampled her singing aren’t lyrics from B. Slade’s song at all. Those were actually ad-libs from her worshiping God while singing the song.
