I remember the night when 808s dropped and the radio hosts were so confused. This auto tune and heavy 808s have become a staple of rap and hip hop 10 years later. This man was so ahead
in what way? All I hear is a super generic pop song with a singer that can't sing and puts awful autotune. The world is crazy man. Stop making stupid untalented people famous!
ZiplineShazam I think in Kanye's case it was a way to produce a new and interesting sound. To evoke a mood. Like any other musical innovation. The guy can obviously sound good without it, so I don't think that was his motivation.
just because it has autotune it doesn't make it bad the weeknd got a really good voice and on travis scott - Pray 4 Love he used autotune for the effect
808s and Heartbreaks man, one of the greatest hip hop albums of all time. Kanye is a legend no matter how we feel about him. Has always been ahead of his time.
@@cyberia___ No, he's definitely a Nazi. He has shown several times that he despises Jews, and he publicly admitted to loving Adolf Hitler. How is he not a Nazi?
I realized his musical talent then but because of the autotone he was dismissed. But he paved the way for Drake with this. I see why they became rivals now.
I remember how hated this song used to be by his so-called fans because it wasn't the classic rap sound they expected from Kanye West. Meanwhile this is a masterpiece.
This whole album is underrated I guess because of how perfect his other albums are but even though a couple songs didn’t age well pretty much all of them are great and if you don’t compare it to his other albums it’s actually an awesome listen
Saitama um late had diamonds from sierra leone the song that had top 5 verses of all time gold digger heard em say SKY HIGH DRIVE SLOW ADDICTION. Your crazy lol graduation is better then college dropout
+William Schwenke Spaceships!!!! Dude just because Kanye doesn't make music like this anymore it doesn't mean it doesn't exist anymore. I'm 18 and still bumping that College Dropout
+zongo maqutu I never said it doesn't exist, I'm just kids will never know Kanye for the Artist he really he is. They're caught up on the hate that people give him and they don't give him a chance to know who and what he really is all about. I still say Kanye is all time Top 10 Rapper/Producer!! I just wish he could still make songs that could be Hits, Billboards Top 10 like he used to. Now it's just Features with other Artists and it doesn't show his true ability for the Rapper he actually is
I still use this song as a standard when I buy new headphones ...if the headphones don’t make me feel the 808s jerk my heart I’m not buying them, Thank you, NEXT
One of my childhood songs. I remember the first time I heard this song I was about 8 or 9 in my friends car coming home from the skate park and this came on in the car.
This entire album is still outshining with creativity, more than anything else that has been put out since and still can't get even close to this talented albeit eccentric, but immensely unique and talented individual! ❤
Kanye did NOT make this all alone. The other writers of this piece are Jeff Bhasker, Jenny-Bea Englishman, Malik Yusef, and Jan Menzies. Kanye is known to have used a 'maximalist' approach for his last few albums, using the help and opinions of a ton of other people. I hope this helps. ~January Elh
It took me 15 years from the release of this song until it hits me on the spot. This has never been more current for me. I feel the same as the creator.
Kanye always knew that Africa was the future, he was way ahead of his time .This was a song inspired by African drums which was an unpopular thing in the America those times ! I remember this video randomly popping up on tv in 2009. I was sitting with my grandmother who was purely African with no Western influence whatsoever, To my surprise she liked the song! Let me tell you he hit the nail with those African drums and my grandmother resonated with it because they were echo's of our traditional African music , that made me realize that with music you don't have to speak someone's language for them to like it, nor do you have to share the shame identity, culture, heritage and history. Music is a Universal language ! and it speaks to the soul in ways that words can never express.
It speaks to the emotions of us. I can tell you this right now... as a big fan of rap and even vulgar rap--- it speaks to our mind/ego/emotions/feelings--- which most people think is their soul... but that said... only Songs that glorify Jehovah (the creator of life and soul/breath of life) can really reach your soul. That and love/romance songs that enliven you. Others just speak to who I am amongst the masses. But songs of love and glorification of Jah --- really reach my soul and who I am before God
They're 808 kicks I think which is the main part of 808 and heartbreak. That was at the time when 808s starting coming out and being really popular for hip hop beats.
You can say whatever you want about kanye. Hate him or love him, he makes great music either way. to me 808 and heartbreak and mbdtf are his best albums hands down.
+Fil what is this supposed to mean? i see everywhere "WOW this song is TRVE ART!!!!" does this mean not all music is art? to say an album is a piece of art is like like saying a bowl of mac and cheese is food. its already implied.
+third monday to use your metaphor, many things are edible but not all is palatable food. theres lots of music but its a stretch to call all music art.
+third monday it's extremely talented art. I believe the meaning of this song and video is expressing a black man (man of color) in a white mans world who's coming to the realization that no matter what he does he will never truly fit in this world because he's not of the fabric that makes up this world but just the (color) that entertains the fabric (white) and gives it life. without color this white world would be lifeless
Honestly I think Graduation and My dark twisted fantasy are masterpieces but 80s is really good too. The life of Pablo was good if your into jazz rap. My least favorite is yeezus please come back Kanye.
JDashRunnIt its really hard not to develop a big ego when you're constantly in the spotlight and am always being watched. Immense pressure to deliver hits. Not saying it's right for him to do some of the things he's done, just an explanation
for the people who keeps on commenting shit saying: when kanye was kanye what you dont know is that when kanye dropped this song (and also the whole 808 album) everyone kept on saying that they need the old (college dropout/no auto tune kanye) kanye stop comparing between kanye's style , because thats what makes him special and different ... 10 years from now ull go to the blackskinhead video and comment "when kanye was kanye" quote me when im right
preach I vividly remember niggas complaining about this album saying I like his old music I want the old ye from college dropout and late registration his new a shit is wack now years later people are saying I want the old ye from 808's and heartbreak I'm like really MF fucking retards lol
+Varian Moore because kanye is a genius .. he is always way more above any other artist ... let me put it in another way, yeezus is from the future .. it sounds strange but thats what most of the rapper will do in 5-10 years from now on
nikole of course he changed the game Kanye Is one of those artist that influence other artists like that Kanye is the best luv him lol I miss this Kanye I do care about the new Kanye this I really Srry for his parents deaths why did his old fiancé leave him this album amazing
my favorite song by him, always gets stuck in my head, used to stay in my brain from the first time I heard it. didn't realize it back then, but this song is what made me want to listen to Kanye. #1 artist of all time
I love how every comment is reminiscing on the past "Kanye". But when 808's was released 6 years ago, people said the same shit: "808's sucks, bring back the old Kanye" blah blah blah... Some amazing fans you are. When will you all realize that he switches his style up every album. :/
Everything you said is correct, but I'd say that his style is evolved starting from 808's, I mean there would be no MBDTF w/out 808's and the same for Yeezus with MBDTF. But again, you said it: people used to HATE 808's when it first come out, now they keep saying the same shit about "past" Kanye. They're not fans.
@Aaron Sanders damn I'm getting the same vibe. she maybe afraid of him. Did you see their house? that house scream Kanye left & right. And you'd thought Kim supposed to be a control freak.
@@kurtkurtkurt3449 I would assume most of his money is in assets like stocks, real estate, prized possessions that appreciate in value over time, and some in a savings account. And I don't think any smart person or their financial advisors would have or suggest 150 million in cash. The cash is just losing to inflation and is costing an opportunity to make even more money. 150 million in a checking account would make sense given his net worth and isn't easily stolen. PS: learn financial literacy and how to manage money
I remember my dad showing me this music video late at night on our OG home computer in the family room. I'd be sitting on his lap and we would just jam to this song together through our trashy speakers. This video is forever nostalgic for me and it blew me away as a kid when the dancers broke through the barrier.
Me too but some of it is back, just look up Kendrick Lamar and Sza in the "All of the Stars" video that just dropped for Black Panther, it will remind you of this but it tops all with the visuals.
"I'm in love with you, but the vibe is wrong"... This song reflects literally the ending of my relationship. I'm devastated but this song and its album are really helping me to understand a relationship can end because other reasons than losing love for each other and be able to get over it.
This is what is most painful...When there is still love between two people, is that one of them, decide to reject you "again" and block you in all possible communications...Like in this beautiful masterpiece... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OydK91JjFOw.html The worst is when the rejection is based on a stupid misunderstanding on the one hand, and a very bad understanding on the other hand, having triggered "The damned Kraken & his cohort of demons", destroying everything... Anger is always a bad advisor... It makes you make many mistakes, like erasing yourself, refusing him from now on, all access to your conscience, your thoughts, as he did himself, and lock yourself in a cold mutism to heal, move forward and especially protect yourself from all new venomous and painful stings... Instinctively you must protect yourself and take refuge in your citadel... Even if you have to live with a love lockdown and a cold case love too... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eMjEyWaoNKE.html To love sincerely and deeply someone and to lose him in such a brutal and violent way...It's hurt like hell... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Uil0L-0F4no.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IPPTTvxojvg.html And I'm still wondering how to communicate with a very complex emotional "Rubik's Cube"... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MM62wjLrgmA.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ifv7S__-vaI.html Don't ask me why... @@mamaziha79 mine was after 35 year marriage I was totally unforgivabley betrayed , not cheating but far worse for me but nothing to her , I was put in care at 5 , adopted at7 put back in care at 11 left care 16 joined army , met future wife at 19 still virgin, she pursued me relentlessly, I was more than hesitant . We got together , I told her “ I will never cheat on you , never hit you , if you want me never to lie , don’t ask about my past” I kept my word , she did too. After 30 years some thing was wrong , the dice was rolling , didn’t know what it was , said nothing , was extra vigilant , my defences were up . Then sept 2017 my wife and 2 daughters announced they had found my family , it took £ 14000 and failed cos of actions I had taken to hide . I had 2 forged id’s then 1 they knew me as,it took dna test to find my family in USA . To them this was really good they were ecstatic , to me it was end of my world which was just them. I never asked fo it, After 35 years in total I was out of house in 20 mins . Left everything but clothes on my back and 1 hold-all ,I know they didn’t understand , I lived homeless on spare ground behind garden center , 4 years later was seen by friend of friend , they told my wife , who arrived with 2 daughters and 1st grandchild I had never met. They full of apologies and vowing never to communicate with my family again ,. It took 4 weeks to convince me to go back with them, it was not the same , seperate bedrooms , never touched my wife , I wouldn’t even go in bathroom when she was in it, Met my younger daughters friend from unI many time she was studying psychology. One day she was stareing at me for longest time till I said “what” , she replied “ you need some serious professional help, your head is all mashed up”. They all went on to list odd behaviour ,like asking to use toilet every time , asking if I could make cup of tea , only ever sitting on kitchen chair in kitchen and turning it to face door, disappearing for up to three days , having an object fear of grandchild, terrible nightmares all night every night that I had no memory, many more , too many to mention, all I could say was “ something ain’t right it’s not the same ,the vibe is wrong , I’m not loving you the way I want to “ daughters friend said “ that’s love lockdown by Kanye west” Never heard of it before so hear I am listening to it , and at last talking , This song could be my road back to not been crazy and scaring people
This was one of the first Kanye songs I heard when I was 10 years old. Love his music from early days until about 2014-15. He’s defly one of the goats of my childhood along with lil Wayne and a few others
MyDarkPassenger I'd say its more about Loving someone, but the relationship is over and Kanyes love is on lockdown because he can't love her the way he wants to.
i remember seeing this on MTV as a kid and it used to scare the shit outta me.. watching it years later rlly is something bc this music video is just so beautiful to me
+Randy Reyes he never was humbe look up old interviews of him in 2002 saying he will be the fucking best and he didn't have an album out yet and saying he's his own favorite rapper
Randy Reyes you have to be confident in order to make it nobody makes it big being humble they have to believe in themselves and it is neccesary considering that he is a rapper where arrogance is welcomed specially in the beginning of his career people said he couldn't rap and was only a producer so he used his arrogance and became one of biggest artists to shame them
