Kayne is trying to show how our minds are getting lost into horror and delusion. That's why the lyrics and the content of the video seemed unrelated. It was on purpose. With all the fluff and stuff of the world, we are drowning in a sea of rot and decay, until there is no more humanity left to repair the damage we created. I don't know if Kayne knows this, but his video is just an expression of the laws of nature: creation > destruction > creation > destruction > ...
Idk but this nigga is trippin.. it's trash.. like what king Los said.. If the slave master ain't serve the same God they gave you Four hundred years later, and you hardly stable And you turn around and beg that same God to save you
Kayne is showing all the mass media depictions that are happening in our culture and how easy it is to become distracted from what truly matters; the word of God. He hints at this with the wave of chains, inferring that all these things that we “buy” into are really holding us captive and preventing us from knowing the truth. I love how he ends with the video of his daughter and the Sunday service choir, bringing us back to what actually matters amongst all the chaos.
The old guy in the beginning of the vid represents his version of “Black Jesus.” As he went through clips after that he displayed Black woman’s sexual depictions with 2 woman dancing provocative. He displayed sickness through the people breathing (Rona). He shown Black on Black Violence through two Black men fighting. His first clip was with officers (Police Brutality). He displayed images of the culture while repeating “wash us in the blood.” Then saying repeatedly “they see us as thugs.” The clip with the lady preaching beside the Musician. It displays one preaching gospel and the other preaching sin. The musician on one clip ascend down on the stage like a bat. The sea of chains represents mental slavery. Many will see a flowing sea, but don’t notice until later it’s chains. The video game clip reps brain washing too. GTA ain’t a game for kids or people bc it reps (robbery, drugs, prostitution). At the end everybody (mainly white) cheering the culture with the vehicles until they ended up being hit by one of the cars. It lost control. It’s all good until it hurts you (riots & burning businesses). The solar eclipse reps the Aquarium year etc. It represents a change is coming. Js . (Not mine just copy and pasted from a different reaction video)
I think he’s showing some of the sins in the world if that make sense while asking Jesus to wash their sins away with his blood. Then he shows his daughter at the end at a church trying to teach her good in a holy environment

Kanye is essentially saying that we need Jesus. Because the blood of Jesus Christ saves us and cleanses us from our sin. It’s culturally relevant due to the tension in the country, especially in major cities where crime and looting are exacerbated. Kanye wants us to come together under God, since we can’t do that without God. Also the juxtaposition of the violent, hard, or brash edits to his daughter who represents innocence, you can see that there is a reason to make a change.
Remember "This is America" - this is the opposite of that in a sense. Gambino's message was that we pay attention to the lyrics, but not what was going on in the video....whereas Kanye's message was that we pay attention to the videos, but not the message of the lyrics. In the end, they are both the same, America has an infatuation with consuming entertainment and replicating it, but in the disorder of all that, the message we need to hear is lost, even though the answer is clear. Until we heed the answer, the situation will continue to worsen.
Symbolism is brilliant! The song is about the blood of Jesus so the symbolism at the end is fitting with the lamb and goats that represents the sacrificial blood!
People are saying old school this and old school that...Bitch fuck that..we ain't old school no more..the new Kanye is on some next level music shit ..Listening to this song with speakers or headphones make it even better
The point of the video is confusion. What Ye' is trying to say is that this world throws so much at you (racism, video games, social media, politics, economic worries) in such a small window that it is easy for the devil to get us confused and off of the focus of the vision that God truly has for our lives on the straight and narrow path. And we should be asking the blood of Jesus to cover us and the Holy Spirit to guide us.
I feel like the visuals helped get his message across. GTA? You're being played. Come together, become better as a group, rise above it all, don't be sheep, stop doing the things that tear us down, we do these things to ourselves. That's what I took out of it and the visuals kind of enforce that. But then again....its Kanye so who knows.
He’s showing cause n effect, seeds sown. Our father in heaven Grace has been protecting us, that Grace is lifting.... Twerking equals COVID Twerking lungs Video games equals drifting a car into a group of people. A drug deal results in a man getting punched hitting his head then covered with a white sheet. We can’t dance with the devil anymore, we will die. So what if they march for us, we won’t be here to raise our babies. I think the sun thing is prophetic, the fathers about to EMP this place pretty soon.
Reading into it far too much man, nothing in your post could apply to an audio only version and is all speculation based on your interpretation of visuals from a video designed to incite emotion from the viewer.
HeyMrSky Bruh like everyone took away this concept, its not that hard to follow, even in the audio version its the same, a focus on the negative influences and realities of our society and then a call to the Lord to “come down” and “wash us in your blood” The video is just visual added on to the same premise.
@RICO PARADISE I never said anything about the concept of the song, I too agree with what people think this song means: we’ve been sinning far too long with no repercussions and God’s gonna unleash a flood type cleansing. I was just saying his correlations like “drifting = video games” is speculation, it could mean ANYTHING knowing Ye. Who’s to say if the GTA clips showing how the extreme thug and criminal culture it glorifies is alluding to the systemic cultural ideals we give our kids to reenact and recycle over and over, or if he’s right about his opinion that GTA is just making kids lackadaisical with driving and killing people? My only point is I know most people claiming to know the meaning of the music probably aren’t fully accurate, but sadly I doubt we will get a Kanye bar breakdown soon.
Bro touching on police brutality, black organ harvesting, black community effected by COVID, gta references that black people see gta shit I’m real life on the block, next gta off him running to the camera is a “get out” moment on some matrix type shit, there’s so much shit you gotta watch like 3,4,5 times💯 Kanye goated
Arthur Jafa directed the video, he does a lot of video collage style work. I'd recommend lookin up his piece called Love is the Message, and the Message is Death.
“Kanye is more woke than your favorite rapper and this video is proof of it. For those that don't understand what's going on in this song, Kanye id technically pointing out the problems of our government and society while telling the people to go in the search for God as there they will find their answers. The video serves as the opposite to the song. The video serves to point out the ways how humanity glorifies violence and deviant acts through media, monuments and behavior. A clear example of this are the footage of the girls dancing, the two black men fighting, illegal street race, and GTA.” - A comment made by me on the official video.
The video is meant to distract you from the song. The video is like all the viral clips in the news in one like police brutality, violant games, twerking, street fights, riots, coronavirus all of this to distract you from what Kanye is saying (which he’s basically asking Jesus to wash everyone in his blood). Hope that explains it lol.
I'm a big old school UNBIASED fan of Kanye West. I understand where he's coming from with this video and song, but to keep it 💯 it's not clutch. I just don't cosign to everything that he puts out like his FANBOYS do. #InTheClutch.
Apparently the guy in the beginning with the crazy hair watching the video was supposed to be black Jesus watching how far astray the world went with sin
To me it was pretty obvious he wants the world to be "washed in the blood". Everyone, not just cops. Society as a whole for glorifying violence like Street fights & games like GTA.
imo the point of the video was to show how distracting the world is from the message of Christ. You get bombarded with "life" and we lose focus on what (in this instance) Kayne's message is.
I think he's saying brother is against brother. Man against man sister against sister. Humanity is against humanity. Color against color. And the only way to fixed the problem is jesus. Wash us in your blood.
New Kanye is more a statement than music. Not really my vibe, though the message is good. Prefer the way other artists get the message across personally.
it has a yeezus sound to it but, the message kind of seems like the opposite of whate kanye was going for in yeezus, treating himself as if h were a god, now with this song it seems like he is making a summary of the past and present incidents that hapened this year and how religion, sin and race/society has a part to play in these problems occuring.
One thing for sure it makes you put on a thinking cap..unlike most these other rappers .. Songs garbage.. Money cars and clothes..and hoes..Please can we get more music that stimulate thought process in a meaningful way💯#404
It takes time to understand ye. It takes a special level of intellect to understand his message and the depth of his artistry . Sadly you guys couldn't catch it. It's ok.
I think that's the point. There are so many images on the screen that you basically can't pay attention to the real message. It's like random clips taken from the daily news, you know... Watch the reaction video from Doc Rich channel. I think He really got the message and gave his interpretation of this song.
I like it better then what Kanye's been doing recently BUT... I'm gonna need to hear the rest of his album to have a better idea where is mind is. I think the reason we are confused is we don't know where he's coming from anymore. Honestly, his Trump bs makes me second guess something I think I should like, because it confuses the message I THINK he's trying to get across. IDK.
JESUS IS COMING.... WE ARE ALL DEAD IN OUR SINS. WE NEED TO REPENT. FOR THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS COME... TIME IS UP. I LEAVE YOU WITH PEACE ABOVE UNDERSTANDING,,,
