The chords for that song are pretty simple! It just switches between A major and D Major. A | ⬇️ ⬇️⬆️. ⬆️⬇️⬆️ | D A | ⬇️ ⬇️⬆️. ⬆️⬇️⬆️ | Let me know if that makes sense. It's going to probably be a little while before I get that video out because I have some other things to finish first. So, I figured I'd just write it out in a comment so you don't have to wait 👍

Hey! Quick correction. I'm currently working on actually transcribing the Return from the Island song, and it's actually in the key of B Major. So you could either play A and D with a capo on the second fret, or play the chords B and E with no capo.

I'm so glad you enjoyed it and found it helpful!! I'd be happy to answer your question. It looks like that tutorial you linked is showing the song in a different key. You could play it that way but it will sound a bit lower than the original. You could capo the 2nd fret to put it in the original key, but some of the chord voicings will still sound a bit different. So it's not as exact to the original as the way I do it, but that doesn't mean it's bad to play it that way! 🙂

Hm after re-listening to it, I have to say I'm not sure I hear a ukulele in there. There is however a solo on a Lap Steel which is what you may be thinking of. Spongebob has a lot of lap steel in the soundtrack which is what gives a lot of the songs that Hawaiian twangy sound. I could still arrange it for Ukulele though if people were interested!

Yep! It's "my dog has fleas". The G String is tuned higher than the C String.

Great question. I actually have a full lesson video coming out soon for this song where I will talk through every single chord. Basically yes, every single chord is only 3 notes, so the G String needs to be muted for every chord except for one of the E chords in which the A string is muted. I did experiment with doubling a note in some chords, but I find muting to be the best approach for this song. Let me know if you have any other questions!

No problem! Let me know how it goes. In this song I mostly go about muting the G String by using the tip of my index finger.

This is in standard tuning, so GCEA with a high G. I actually just uploaded a full length lesson on this song where I walk through every chord! Near the beginning I show the ukulele tuning. I would recommend checking that out, and feel free to ask any questions I'm happy to help 👍
