Merry (belated) Christmas y'all.
Here is a first peek at the original vision of Kapustin's Toccata Op.8, programmed with FL Studio.
When I first heard the new section I found it so... Kapustin. Like of course! But It sounded so familiar, it's as if I'm not discovering something new and I've just been remembering it again.
While the full version adds a great deal of substance and makes it a fully fledged piece, I think the shorter version is still great. In fact, I prefer the shorter version for a solo piano version, so I will not be lengthening the current piano arrangement to match the full version. Only some notes will be edited to match the original score for accuracy sake.
And also, sorry if mixing is trash. I'm a newbie and I tried my best...
Additional notes:
Some of you may have noticed the brass and sax section doesn't line up with the playback line. This is because the VST I'm using (Straight Ahead Samples) has a feature called Smart Delay, which allows for incredibly realistic sounds but delays all performance by 4 beats. Thanks to ‪@straightaheadsamples‬ for creating such awesome VST.
1:36 This part was written as "ad libitum" in the original score and did not show any notes. So I had to write my own solo just for this part. I'm not a guitarist, so my apologies if this solo is unrealistic...
Thanks to ‪@leh-yd2qu‬ for being my (first) RU-vid channel member (I forgot to add you in the video I'm so sorry)

The publisher ‘Schott’ has the rights to the composition. This RU-vid channel has the rights to this recording as it was made virtually.

Excellent MIDI rendition, however, isn't the solo at 1:35 meant to be a piano solo? In the score, the piano is marked "Solo ad libitum col guitar", (edit: noticed you wrote that in your score as well) which just means to use the chord progression already written in the guitar part. The same notation appears in the Nocturne op.16, and the recording of that has only the piano playing a solo (albeit in that piece there is a solo written in with optional improv).
@hesangasong
@hesangasong 9 месяцев назад
yes you’re correct. Musically speaking i thought it just sounded better to have the guitar to start the solo here. I originally had the solo just for piano but it sounded too busy and lack of breath, considering the piano was already playing lots with fast tempo before the solo starts. By having the guitar start the solo it acts as a small (and much needed) break for the solo pianist.
@filmscorevideos

That makes sense. I actually think it sounds better with the guitar.

One day, a large asteroid flew past the Earth. At some point, a fragment of it broke off and flew downwards. As it turned out, it fell near Pukhansan (a mountain range north of Seoul). A day later, hesangasong went for a walk there and accidentally stumbled upon the fallen shard. He touched it, and as soon as he did, he was kind of shaken up, but, after a moment, it passed. When he returned home in the evening, hesangasong took off his briefcase and went to take a shower and then dinner. After he had done his business, he returned to his room and was horrified to find that his briefcase had been opened and a dark brown mass was crawling out of it. Before hesangasong knew it, it had leaped upon him and .... our hero lost consciousness, and when he woke up, it was already daytime. Suddenly, he wanted to listen to Kapustin, and then his hands reached for the instrument and then the laptop. That's how this video was born. In the end, what was the point of my story? The unknown cosmic entity was *AZALI*

@@hesangasong Hey, can you tell me how to get into FL Studio? I work in REAPER myself, as it's free and quite easy to learn. But it doesn't have such "beautiful visuals" as FL Studio. I mean these beautiful horizontal tiles) I have only one question: how to write sheet music in Fl Studio and is it possible to convert mscz-file or midi-file from MuseScore to FL Studio? Because it's not convenient to type notes in FL Studio at all. It's easier to do it in MuseScore and then load it into FL Studio. And then you have to deal with these plug-ins, with all sorts of connections, sends... thrash... REAPER is easier to deal with that somehow.

Hearing your rendition of the Under the Sea track mixed with Kapustin made me realize that that same style would really fit with Pokémon Gold and Silver's S.S. Aqua track. It's so upbeat and hasn't ever received any attention despite being one of the best tracks in the series. I hope you take my suggestion into consideration!

Wow, how did you do that? Is there a way to scan a score with pdf and play it, e.g. in Musescore? By the way, a "new" video of Kapustin was uploaded, he plays parts of Sonata No. 12 and Daybreak ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ykJbO6wvOYI.htmlsi=IGkDAZRoUlMqMsjO

Musecore can play sheet music, didn't you know? If you write it in programm. You can also import midi and wav files with the selected sounds in mind. About your link. Thank you very much! I didn't know about it! There are some really UNIQUE, EXCLUSIVE, footage that has never been on RU-vid before. This is a *must-see* for every person who respects N. Kapustin _(including hesangasong)._
@tarikeld11
@tarikeld11 9 месяцев назад
@@RaptorT1V I'm glad you also like the video! Yes, I've been using MuseScore for years, but I didn't see any option to import a PDF of sheet music. Otherwise, hesangasong typed in every note by hand, this would be impressive!

@@graye_2843 and @tarikeld11 I was sure I had left another comment, but it looks like RU-vid itself deleted it. Damn RU-vid! And now I tried to post a comment and it still got deleted automatically. I'll try to post it in installments. Here's what I was talking about. _ You can go two ways: 1) Type everything in notes by hand. It's not that hard, especially if you have a midi keyboard. Even on a laptop keyboard it's not too hard to type. I've gotten the hang of it and can transcribe notes very quickly.
