In this episode Sensei James gets you to work & shows you some of his secrets learnt over many years to help produce punching power. Karate techniques needs to be trained for many years with a lot of repetition to truly learn how to be perform correctly. Today you can practice at home and become more powerful. Of course we train karate to protect ourselves & to stay fit, we never use our techniques on others with a goal to cause harm.

In this Karate style of martial arts how do you prevent hyperextension of the elbows when executing linear trajectory punching? Also I'd like to understand the physics of the hip turn in Karate punching. I watched the video of Sensei James punching and the hip of the punching side arm moves forward slightly while executing the punching technique. Then I see the Chinese martial arts stylists moving the punching side hip rearward while punching. The Thai boxing people move their hips in a full rotation while punching. The Okinawan Karate stylists sink their hips when punching as opposed to rotating their hips. The Russian Systema people do not move their hips or body torso at all as they punch they stabilize their body core and utilize arm appendage rotation exclusively in powering their punching techniques. I believe people should cooperate with each other and minimize violence. However, when combative fighting and/or self defense is necessary couldn't we develop a more unified way of striking?

Do we need to tense our hand at first half of the punch and then throw it freely? Or should we have our hand tensed all the time?
