Karate Footwork For MMA
We are breaking down the Karate Blitz in this weeks video!
Traditional point-style karate can be adjusted and modified to be effective in full-contact fighting sports such as MMA and kickboxing. We have seen that over and over with fighters like Wonderboy Thompson, Lyoto Machida etc.
So I'm breaking down karate footwork for MMA to give you the competative edge over your opponent. Being able to move in and Blitz your opponent from a longer distance is going to be a useful tool for you. Just make sure to keep your hands up as you move in!

Its correct but just one thing u forgot, while blitzing through it, always put the jab before doing any other attacks. When u jab it gives you more opening opportunities or distract the opponent.

its useful to feint a 'mae te' or jab before the cross especially if you want to feint before going to the body. u can also use the front hand to parry and throw your attack. Hope that helps somebody

Nice technique! It seems similar to a superman punch. Do you know how to do weapon first or also called independent motion blitzes? IMO this is faster, covers more ground, and is less telegraphed than this.

There is one that looks similar to that one except that the footwork is alot different, as you step you punch so as you throw the cross the rear leg moves with it and vice versa.

This technique is easier to perform when your hands are lowere, it makes the blows harder to see and makes movements fast . At such a great distance it is not necessary to keep your hands up. Raise your hands when you in closer distance. You use box guard for karate distance!
