Looks a bit old-hat. For work I've always picked a battery system and stayed with it... So far that's been Makita in the 90s, Dewalt NiCd through the early 20's and now the Dewalt LiIon and some Milwaukee. Personally, I'd be sticking with people that specialise in battery tools (Dewalt, Makita or maybe Milwaukee at a push). The tools themselves rarely die, but the batteries on the non-industrial brands do. Bad examples are Bosch Green (consumer crap -- Blue is their good stuff), anything from Aldi/Lidl, Black and Decker and almost anything from B&Q. An honourable mention could go to Ryobi -- I haven't personally used them, but generally considered to be OK. Just my 2p :) Thanks for the Karcher reviews on their main-line products (washers n steamers).

I agree that the pro battery tools are a better option if you can afford them, the majority of my pro tools are dewalt over the diy black and decker line, and if I buy bosh I prefer to buy blue however some of both the dewalt and black and deck as well as bosh green and blue are the same tool in just a different colour especially in the corded versions

@@RichManPoorTech Yep, there's certainly some of that tom-foolery happening with all the main companies. My main point is that by buying the batteries from Dewalt, I know that the 5Ah are good for 5 years plus. The ultimate cost of most battery tools will turn out to be the batteries, so it needs to be a significant saving to justify buying one of the DIY brands, where the batteries are quite often expensive and perhaps change design more frequently. Ultimately, Black & Decker actually own Dewalt, but they truly are made differently. Most of the Bosch Blue tools are also good for 5+ years of daily use. I suppose some of the Bosch green tools are too; but their hedge trimmers for instance (with 14.4v batteries) have weak chargers and batteries that rarely survive 2 winters. Those prove to be poor value for money, despite looking good on the initial purchase. I just look at the Karcher equivalent and wonder if they're not leveraging their brand name to the big retailers and making higher profits than equal quality brands. Plus, seeing that there are more full-range battery tool suppliers that are similarly priced, or cheaper, I wouldn't take the risk :) Again, thanks for your reviews and your reply.
