Wow! This is the first time Tam O'Shanter has come alive for me. I need all of Karen's facial cues, gestures and background scenes to guide me, because to my uninitiated American ear the language is tougher than Tam's trip home. (And here I thought watching "Monarch of the Glen" was a challenge!)
Wonderful performance ! The only one could maybe possibly do it better John Laurie .A superb and accomplished actor himself well before Dads Army. Not forgetting Rikki Fulton another great Scottish actor who would have made a fine performance of this masterpiece. Lets not forget .The Twa Dogs. and The Cottars Saturday Night. this is stuff that rouses the World not just Scottish hearts, but all humanity. Truly Scotlands legacy to the world!
It's amazing. I love it. I love the poem, I love the language. But...she abbreviates it. NOT a problem, usually, but for my favorite poem of all time? It kinda itches a little, you know?
Ah think this is pretty good. Learning this wan maself for oor next Burns night so well done Karen. Good performance and good theatrics. It's a bit borin just watchin somebody readin it as if it was aff a sheet o paper. Put some life into it and people will watch and listen to wan o Burns greatest verses.
