A liquor store in Oklahoma offered Veterans a discount, but some Karen complained to the state liquor authority. why is this such a big deal? Why not just let he business do what they want? The complaint was that a liquor store was offering a 10% discount to veterans as well as residents of a specific neighborhood.

A Vet owned pub in my town offered discounts to Veterans and First Responders (assuming they're off duty or retired) and some Karen complained. The town council voted unanimously to tell her to stfu. They then had a public vote to allow alcohol sales on Sunday and let bars stay open later. I know who voting for in the next local election.

My father, Navy vet and shell back, owned a bookstore (in a Navy town) in the mid 80's. Had some 'lady' demanded a senior discount. Now, at that time, he did not offer a discount to anyone. After trying to explain that for several minutes, my smart assed father got fed up and said "your right. Some people do deserve a discount " he started making up a sign for the new discount. " show your_______card for a 10% discount" well. The 'lady' started digging through her purse for her cards....as my father added ' shell back' to the sign. To sum it up, she stormed out vowing "I'll never shop here again" sales went up slightly after that.....

My dispensary offers a 10% discount to veterans, active duty, first responders as well as it should as all business should I believe. The bar I used to work at offers the same discount as well and on Veterans Day, the 4th of July, Memorial Day, 9/11 NO SERVICE MAN/WOMEN IS PAYING FOR ANYTHING! IS THAT CLEAR

I know a lady here, she's married to the town Dr, he's told the liquor stores around here and Walmart to not sell her alcohol. Which was fine and dandy til she started buying the hand sanitizer and mouthwash, vanilla extract, etc. People think making it cheaper will create more drunks or even banning it will stop alcoholics is crazy and makes it obvious they've never been around one.

Fellow Cheesehead! Wisconsin used to have 40 major beer breweries from 1900 to around 1990. Quite a few were out of business by 1976, leaving Miller and Pabst as our 2 big breweries then the 1990s saw a surge in microbreweries like Sprecher and Leinenkugel's.

When I was moved to PA in the 80s I remember being blown away the first time I saw a drive through liquor store in OH ... AND they gave discounts. "Wait, I DRIVE up to a window, order a bunch of booze, you load it into my truck, and I DRIVE away with it? Yup. Okay, what a country!" Since then I found out this wonderful service is available in several states, and once in Georgia I was in a town that made drinking and being drunk in public legal, and actually encouraged it by letting you take your drink in a glass from any establishment to any other establishment on the street. You could bar hop and literally never stop drinking and it was a-ok by the local constabulary.

I don't know how the law works on this point where you live, but since it's a controlled substance, it's likely that there are laws forbidding the free distribution of alcohol outside of specific contexts, just like there are laws regarding its sale. You'd have to check to be sure.

In Massachusetts. There are some dispensary that if you are 100% disabled. (Veteran's) you get a 40% discount and NO TAXES. I see no problem with that. (About the only thing good in Massachusetts. But not worth staying).
