I was thinking the same damn thing. She stood there. I think she wanted a boy and was processing it. Then she got offended that mom stepped in and filled the gap the son had to be feeling. Mothers are perceptive.
In the first video, the mom did wait and look over at the daughter in law. When she saw that she wasn't moving toward her husband, the mom decided to hug her son because she was excited.

Some parents don't understand the line between discipline and abuse. One-and-done vs. prolonged. Some parents play it way too safe. And this kid...only a parent would teach him that language. He doesn't fully understand what that means.

The fact she said "it's my day" acting as if it were her birthday or wedding day is wrong on so many levels. A gender reveal and baby shower is your baby's day. Not yours. You are just an addition. Its a family treat basically and support for the baby. Speaking from a woman who had her first kid last year.

I'd say pregnancy hormones and maybe some insecurities are playing a role here. Hopefully. The other option I came out with is narcissism. Tho insecurity is tightly related to narcissism so, dunno. If I had to bet I'd say that thing is not going to last and if it lasts it's going to be horrible for both of them but mainly for the guy. She gives me the vibe that her husband shouldn't have anykind of relationship to any woman ever in his life, I can see her getting jealous to her own daughter in the future. I'm probably overthinking, but my past experiences have taught me that behaviour like that never gets better, only worse, no matter the gender of the person showing the red flags.
I also think a lot of it had to do with hormones, all my friends who have ever gotten pregnant tell me about how the littlest things like spilling a glass of milk will send them into an emotional spiral. That’s why I refuse to ever give life to a crotch goblin 😭🫡

I have a cop buddy just like this guy. I think he said his least favorite job is traffic cop, and I don't blame him. That first video: ouch. The mom-to-be needs to chill. Nothing wrong happened other than a newly pregnant woman overreacted. That woman in the first clip needs to chill. She didn't rush to hug the father of her child but wants to proceed to get upset at his mom for hugging him in excitement over the fact she is having a granddaughter. When my youngest son and his wife had a gender reveal for my grandson, I did hug my son first, I was standing right next to him. His wife, my wonderful daughter n law never got upset. She came up and hugged me right after I hugged my son!

I don't think the mum meant it in a bad way, I understand the mum may have acted this way pushing in a little more than once however, if the daughter has said to the husband something about it, it is up to them both to mention it otherwise the mother may not know what she is doing wrong & it can just cause tension where it is not needed.
The first girl had plenty of time to go over and hug the soon to be father. The mother in law waited until she felt the moment was over to give her son a hug. As a white person, I just can't imagine what people of color have to deal with all the time. All these videos have really opened my eyes. I used to think, well, that's annoying but just comply, no need to get an attitude. But now I realize it can be 20 times a day for your whole life, that white people assume you're doing something wrong, think they have a right to demand you explain yourself to them, only question YOU when there's a hundred others of white people who just breeze through... I'd get so angry too. I'd be furious. Even if the incidents are small, it would be like death by a thousand paper cuts. I think that's a thing all the white people are learning, is that it's NEVER just once. It's a lifetime. And you see your mom copping the same when you're a kid, then you see the same thing happen to your children when they're so little and precious.
