Hauntingly beautiful vocals. From a lore perspective, I can imagine this being sang as house lannister inevitably meets the same fate as those Tywin defeated. A harrowing execution song for Cersei as she remembers that wolves have claws too.

You know, it isn't often when I'am compelled to leave a comment on a video from RU-vid, but after listening to this song literately six kagallion times I have to give props where they're due. Karliene Reynolds, your work with this song captures the true tragic nature that this song represents. It's both haunting and beautiful, which any person who has experienced something awful can find themselves connecting to. Thank you for the hard work, and sharing this with the world.

Funny how Talisa shows up at the 'cat with a different coat' part of it. In the show, she was given a surname which - in the books - belongs to a Triarch affiliated with Tiger faction. Hence, she is a 'cat with a different coat', i.e a tiger.

Very beautiful version. Sad and melancholic...I imagine that many years after the events of ASOIAF/GOT, this version will remind the great lords and ladies of Westeros how a Great House can rise above all others...and yet fall down within a few years. Due to incompetence, arrogance and cruelty, plotting and hatred, lack of compassion and lack of family-love or respect...yes, maybe they'll even call it the "Lannister's Lament" thereafter...when the Golden Lion has shared the Red Lion's fate ...

This was the first version of "The Rains of Castamere" I ever heard. I think I found it during season 1 of GoT, before the song had been written for the show. This version still holds a very special place in my heart.

Karliene - I don't know who said that this version sounds too hopeful, but I'm not sure what they're thinking. This version is **perfect**. Your voice is absolutely outstanding - it digs right into the soul ( e.g. Lament for Boromir )

I feel like crying. It's so, so sad... Every time I hear this I imagine Cat singing this for her dead husband and son. Or Sansa. Your voice gives this song a darker, deeper edge. Wonderful you're so inspiring...the original by Nationals is darker and more manly but yours has different approach. I see it as sort of "regret" sadness lament.From point of view of someone who might have been an ally who tried to warn Lord Reyne against rebelling, or maybe someone who took part in slaughter and now on death bed or as they get old, they remember this event not with triumph but sadness. It gives much more depth to the song.

This is the best non-official version of The Rains of Castamere on RU-vid. Every word and emotion is expressed properly. Properly if you're not a Lannister. I hope HBO licenses thus version for the credits during the last season at some point.

The turly creepy part of this. Is that everyone shown is either dead. Digging there own grave, or dead inside. From all the choices they made or events that happend around them.

I discovered this song almost 12 years ago. When GOT was on everyone's lips, and the show was being aired on HBO, I was immersed in reading the books, trying not to fall in the TV series before I finished those. I remember clearly, that when I read the Red Wedding part, with the cold blooded Walder Frey tearing down one of my favourite characters in the novel, I was impressed, and ran to RU-vid in search of a cover for the song. When I found this, I really felt the despair, grief, and mourn of Cat for the loss of her firstborn. Karliene really adds a fantastic and captivating atmosphere, so this was for me the best cover ever made for The Rains of Castamere. Now, 2024... 12 years have passed, and I have the same feelings about this ❤ Awesome work!

I think some people can be a bit camera shy but luckily i've never had that problem - in real life, i'm extremely shy but I feel comfortable in front of machines, haha. As for "You Win or you Die" - I did write the words, yes. It was a lovely song to create and I'm still very fond of it as it was really the song that kicked everything off for me. :-)
