The town of Karlovy Vary "Carlsbad", in the Czech Republic, was founded in the 14th century by Charles IV. According to legend, the emperor had the town built immediately after discovering the hot springs while hunting. The town was already very popular among wealthy aristocrats in the 16th century and enjoyed the favor of many noble families. (www.karlovyvar...)
