Karnivool - Themata (Acoustic Cover)

Thought I would tackle this leviathan from Karnivool. I learned two things from attempting to play this one and that is: Drew Goddard's riffs are impossible to translate to an acoustic guitar and sing at the same time and Ian Kenny can fucking SING. Probably one of the most challenging songs for me to sing, so forgive any discrepancies along the way :D

Not too long to be honest. Once I has an idea of what chord progression to go with it kind of fell into place pretty quickly. The beauty of the song is it has such a great melody so transcribing a corresponding progression was a pleasure.

It's nice to see vocalists that can actually play the instrument they use as backing. Fantastic job, dude, this song does not go easy on your right hand but you kept the rhythm and harmony consistent.

Haha thanks dude. I think being the guitarist and singer in a 3 piece band has really helped develop good coordination with singing and playing tricky rhythms etc. Thanks for watching and commenting.

@pocockg Thanks man appreciate it. I have to say that it was a lot easier to translate this to acoustic than I envisioned. I think because the melody is so strong that coming up with chords/arpeggios move together quite easily. Check out my cover of Mastodon's song Oblivion, that took a bit to work out a solid structure.
