So Karnov in this game, despite being the main antagonist and final boss, was never really evil. Just a legendary fire-breathing former hero who wants a worthy opponent, and roasts the fuck out of those who try and fail to defeat him, figuratively and literally. The fact that Karnov's ending is him establishing a training camp for aspiring warriors is really cool of him, too.
