As a Ram player, a good Lucio is like hitting the Lottery. I had one memorable game on the Toronto push map where a Lucio just ferried me around! amp'd my nemesis engages, and perfectly timed amp'd disegages. It was the funnest game I ever played on Ram and the number of team kills I got thanks to that Lucio was insane.
Funny enough, I remember a game where my tank was Ram and I was Lucio and sped him across the map in Toronto. We combo’d really well, maybe you were my tank lol
I play a ton of Lucio and a lot of the time the tanks don't use the speed boost and I end up just heal botting or doing my own thing and diving the enemy DPS. But those games when you get a good Rein or Ram player when you are on the same page are so much fun because you get a ton of kills too.
Even at higher rank ranks, good lucio players is rare because in order to get enough value out of him compared to other supports, the entire team must not only play very well, but have good teamwork.
Yeah I feel like the simple explanation that is missing from the video is that if you’re playing brawl and your opponents tank doesn’t have Lucio support, you have complete control of engagements in your ideal range because the enemy tank can never outrun you and you can always escape them
As someone who has coached this game for several HS eSports teams, and a college eSport team, I really appreciate the way you explain these to your viewers. It's good to see a content creator that is focusing on giving simple answers without making the person or question seem stupid. That was one of the more difficult things I had to learn how to do when I started out. So great job keeping it constructive but valuable and engaging.
I consider myself a newer player because i started playing the game at the end of season 5. Like 5 days left of season 5 lol. But the LOS thing is something that drives me crazy as a support main. Like I’m not following you to our certain death. Don’t leave the whole team to fight a 5v1 and get mad me when you die. Even if i followed you in, i can’t out-heal the damage of 5 people focusing on you!
HOT TAKE (Or regular take based on your brain.) Players will be more satisfied with a loss if they feel they “carried” their team . By “carried” I mean just looking at the stat sheet. Stats aren’t everything. Example: Tracer being annoying to their back line , forcing CDs but dying in the process, enabling the team to kill the players with no CDs. Sometimes the reason you are “popping off” is cause your teammate allowed you to play like that but suffered in the process
Why some higher ranked players hold different positions from lower ranked ones: 1. Aim. Some players aren't consistent enough to get picks at range. 2. Chokes. Sometimes it's better to hold difficult to take points & give up a little space. If one area is easy to defend, take advantage of it. If you die before a choke & have to refight after it, the choke isn't giving you any advantage. 3. Number of refights. Sometimes a position just allows your team to take an extra teamfight based on how long it takes to get back to the point after dying
@@yaoipurpleheart thats really great. i noticed a lot of new players do that because they think "well i have infinite bullets in this turret form and genjis deflect isnt even that powerful" i mean i did this too. every new player did this so its important to teach them things and let them make mistakes
lol the last one is so true. 2 match i still remember to this day: I was mercy in nepal and we had a winton, he was litterally feeding and he was outof my ga range and los and he was behind like 2/3 walls and use his ult to feed even more then say mercy pocket me, why u let me die.... i was like wtf. I dont usually pocket winton if i know they will die and wont get any picks and pocketing winton 24/7 is not optimal. We were argueing and he keep asking why wont u pocketing me, i keep saying that winton isnt optimal for mercy and i tell him to watch a mercy pocket tier list cause i couldnt get in to his head that winton isnt the best for mercy and he is like why tell me to watch a tier list, i just want to have fun like SIR U RUIN MY FUN ALSO 2. same thing happend but we had a genji in blizzard world and same thing out of my los and ga range. he also complain about heals. And i tell him pls staynot too far of us supports and in my ga range and he said no. I ask so u want to die? He said yes so i stop healing then he complain lol, when he die i fly to the enemy to reach his soul and tbag him,the enemy let me do it cause i think they know that he was toxic and i couldnt heal him, he complain again and report me :D. I didnt get ban but even if i did, worth it
Then the idea of casual enjoyment in this game is lost and should probably burn out to welcome a new age of players who actually enjoy games win or lose instead of punishing you with throwing and leaving simply because someone picked a weak hero. Having fun should be welcomed and hero choice or playstyle should have nothing to do with that in quick play or ranked. The only people not allowed are leavers and cheaters. If someones choice of character or playstyle bothers that much then one better 5 stack at all times
I think off the top of my head the only windup remotely comparable with rock is sleep dart but obviously sleep dart is a SIGNIFICANTLY stronger and (in some cases) easier stun to land
“What is the tank gona do with a lucio if I jump pump the tank he not gona die and we win” Ok but what happens when tank shoves his fist in ur support ass and now it’s a 4-5 and you lose?
I'm silver in support and my silver buddies think I'm not as useful with Lucio because I'm not healing as much but I'm trying to speed boost the tank. My buddy likes playing Sigma so I go Lucio, which I enjoy as a titanfall enjoyer lol, I think it's a good idea I can speed him in and out and when he uses absorb and hide behind the shield it's great
Conceptually this is how you play Lucio, but unless you are really experienced (at least masters) and/or coordinated, it's hard to really get value out of Lucio. It's important to get a good feel of the game. Lucio and sigma also do not work together compositionally. Maybe learn a couple other hero's and come back to Lucio after learning the game a bit more.
While you are trying and thats all that matters. Sometimes a comp is better suited with other heroes. Lucio is indeed good but not always needed. Sigma has a lot pf survivability on his own and doesnt necessarily need speed boost compared to lets say a baptist lamp or a kiriko suzu.
Lucio is bad with sigma because by design sigma just wants to afk behind his shield and wait for picks from his rock and apply poke pressure. The reason they think you're less useful on lucio is because he's playing sigma. If he were on Ram, rein, zarya, or JQ or even orisa and roadhog then it would be more useful.
Lucio is good for brawl tanks and maybe ok for a few dives like dva, he's just straight bad with poke tanks. Specifically sigma since ram isn't a true poke tank more of a hybrid brawl tank.
Most beginner common mistake I think the number one is. Don't use cover. It doesn't matter if they're Tank, DPS, or Support, if they're taking damage, and you heal them, they will stand and take more damage, expecting you to keep healing them.
There is no other character in the game that is as perfectly balanced as lucio. He is a skill gap character but he isnt busted by any means because of it. Tracer and genji are also like this as well but have some cheesey plays in their arsenal. With lucio its always a decision to make that feels smooth. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt
Mildly spicy take: game today would be in a better place if doom remained as dps, he would be one of the necessary evils of ow2. Tweaks would probably have to be made to his stats but he would not only help with tank cc problem by soaking some it himself but would also help keep supports in check by forcing get out of jail free card. Doom players would like it, tank players would like it, dps players would like it.
I'd like to see a 5 second grace period for cart during ot. Too often your only option is to die on point. Those few seconds in cover can lead to ult, a chance to get a health pack, or reposition for support los. Spawns increased by 5 seconds during ot (new shortened spawn times in mind)
Hey, off topic, when did you get that zen tattoo? I've been thinking of adding to my back with an overwatch tattoo. do you have a place where you show off your sleave?
Imagine being a huge high diamond rein having the machnical skills of a monkey but being able to read the game like a book. It feels so bad if i play dps or support, to see the tank just lacking awareness. It's tilting honestly, all i can do is laugh because any advice is met with. "IT'S QUICKPLAY" I can't play anything else with my pc brethren
I resently hit gm with my friends and it sucks we cant play together anymkre overwatchs fun has almost fully died for us because we cant play together in comp
At the risk of just getting flamed by the entirety of the internet, how am i realistically supposed to get better at the game, i like to play characters like doom and pharah which i understand is a handicap in and of itself, but it feels like I've very quickly plateaud in improvement, if i do "well" it feels a whole lot more like i was carried, if I'm getting rolled, it's very hard to gain anything from that, playing them in ranked has exclusively gotten me teammates that'll just throw because i played them for even a second, watching pros doesn't exactly help because I'm no where's near in pro lobbies so it's not like my teammates even in quickplay are in any way going to facilitate anything, not to blame them, idk what to do other than just swap to something a lot more braindead and a lot less fun
you can try watching vod reviews of your hero pool at your own rank (eg gold doomfist). also watching your own vods back (like a game you feel you should have won, but lost) and really focusing on where you're playing in relation to everyone else on the battlefield, as well as trying to decide whether or not a decision you made was good or bad, and how you could improve upon that decision (eg, my engagement as doomfist was well timed, but i stayed too long, left too early, didn't block soon enough, etc.) best of luck to you!
@8UMadBro8 bro your straight up wrong about this. Last season i wouldve agreed, but post rework i went from plat 3 to diamond 3 in 15 games on zen only. Hes actually busted, just be smart with discord usage
@epicgamersauce3516 while I can't speak for your rank, the consensus at the top ranks is that he's weaker now. Getting his range back for (usually) meaningless poke damage & the slight buff to healing his flankers don't make up for the significant nerf to discord. At higher ranks, players are positioned well enough that they can Line Of Sight or cleanse discord and then take advantage of that time. He's a niche pick with an average at best win rate & pick rate. I'm glad you're finding success, but I'd imagine that climb will plateau. TLDR: As you go against better players, Zen's usefulness falls-off below that of a lot of other supports. If you have fun playing him, that's great! But if your end goal is to climb as high as possible & maximize impact, right now it's worth focusing on other heroes
IMHO, genji should not beable to deflect the following: Pharah rockets (they explode on impact), Junk's concussion mines (junk has the trigger to detonate), Rein's firestrikes, McCree's MAGNETIC grenade (its freaking magnetic, it should stick to his swords), Ashe Dynamite should be deflectable HOWEVER it shouldn't extend the wick timer (how does hitting a dynamite back towards someone make the burning wick reset??? Same thing happens with Cree Nade), or ANY of the other stupid deflects that i dont have time to list, cause there are plenty more. Genji has the MOST abilities in the game by far, including passives. He sits somewhere around 15 total abilities to my count. Thats STUPID. Genji needs a rework to be more ninja like. Get rid of his right click, add a timed smoke bomb that genji can deploy. Get rid of his genji dash, replace it with an active camoflauge (not invisibility, more like Predator camo, but with no foot sounds). Allow Genji's wallclimb to grab on at the peak of the climb, spacebar to preform a wall jump to detach. Imagine a genji wallgrabbing on a point while active camo is going. Get rid of genji's movement speed passive and add a crit multiplier to anyone that he attacks from behind with a melee attack. and finally...GET RID OF HIS STUPID ULTIMATE. Swinging blindly at anything that moves that might be an enemy is so far from a "ninja" it isnt funny. Ninja are precise and swift killers, they dont swing blindly at shadows. Replace his ultimate with a longer lasting active camo, that also highlights enemies in his smoke bomb. A standard melee attack from most heroes is 30 dmg. Make genji's backstab ability deal like 5x dmg (or 150), then his camo breaks and he must follow up with shuriken or another normal melee or two to secure the kill. Securing a kill resets his active camo. This would make for a MUCH funner genji than the current NON-ninja that we have now.
Genji is one of the weakest characters in the game for a good few seasons now but is still one of the most popular characters because tons of players just think he's fun to play, just because you don't doesn't mean they should rework him. He needs a buff so adding nerfs to what he can deflect wouldn't make any sense and from a gameplay point of view removing his ability to deflect certain thing like magnetic grenade doesn't make any sense in terms of physics but not much in the game is realistic. We have a talking super intelligent gorilla and hamster and a time traveling pilot. Genjis blades are most likely technologically advanced anyways. He feels very much like a ninja being able to climb, and dash around and if you see someone that actually uses his ult properly it looks very precise just like a ninja and proposing another character that can go invisible is a terrible idea people hated sombra for that
"ninja are precise and swift killers, they dont swing blindly at shadows" UMMM IDK what Genji plays you're making but that's NOT how you use his ult. His ult LITERALLY makes him a swift killer when used correctly. You're supposed to murder people so quickly they have no time to react and have the ability to get out unpunished
