Eh, but really a lot of food goes to waste no matter what. A good amount of these also don't go very far beneath the peel though, and the scraps can ocasionally be used for things. (scraps from carrot, onion, and celery carvings can be used in mirepoix for instance.)

Anyway, I can already tell this won't go anywhere because you won't recognize that on a daily basis you probably "waste" a lot more food than you think. And every time you eat at a restaurant you are wasting even more. Because restaurants have to hold to standards for consistency and throwing out food that has even the slightest whisper of almost being bad. Start shipping food to the third world countries yourself if you're that worried.
Poor people can't afford food, so it rots on shelves in stores, third world countries can't afford shipping, so they don't get food shipped from elsewhere. People carving fruits isn't TAKING food away from these people, it's just using food differently. It's simply art, edible art. A lot of times you can STILL USE the scraps, depends on what you're carving. (sometimes there are no scraps) Basically, you have no point to defend. ~Also use of "gay" as an insult only shows ignorance.
