One of my clients is an elderly man with a brain injury. He's a music nut, as am I, so I showed him this last week (we talk music non-stop when we see each other.) The range of emotion that ran across his face was fucking gloooorious to behold. He got so passionate watching this, I got so passionate watching him watch this, we both ended up crying like crazy people and it was fucking beautiful. That's the power of music.
That's amazing. What a beautiful moment caught together with both of your passion for music. I wish you had of filmed that. Thanks for sharing, much love from Queensland Australia 🦘❤
Love the way you inched towards it and then fell over the edge, that's her dad Bill Chambers on the slide guitar 🤠Oh, and all us Aussies knew what was coming, Kasey never disappoints 🤯
I have watched this so many times now. So many reaction videos and I’m really enjoying seeing people being won over by this version. No matter how often I watch it, it still gives me the chills
Yeah I just put this on the back burner for ages and one night when I was bored I watched and I just sat there afterwards for 10 or 15 minutes with no thought just tryin to work out what I just witnessed , and then just started sharing with everyone I knew.
Just when you thought you knew a song, right? Then someone shows you another side....... Kasey and her family are very highly respected country artists in Australia. I love the way Kasey and the band build the drama and tension, you're not really sure where it's going to next. Also, a massive tribute to Eminem and some amazing and emotional lyrics. This is why we should always leave our minds open to cover versions. Great reaction mate, G'day from Australia.
Thanks a lot really appreciate this comment an your so right DIDNT see this coming from that like wtf Just I just set into An you said and her family 🤔 THATS HER FAMILY
Kasey using all her heart and soul to rip out the cutting words of Eminem's lyrics.....This reaches deep into your emotions, you get more than one shot to feel it! Powerful performance.
This has got to be the best cover of all time. She is a Bluegrass/Country singer in Australia. She took a 20 year old rap song, tore it completely up, & made it her motherfucking own!!! I have just watched it a dozen times tonight, & each time I have got goosebumps & tears flowing. The anguish in this performance is on another level! Her early career mirrored Eminem's, which is why she chose this song. Has Marshall heard this??? Her father Bill Chambers on the slide guitar(used in blues & bluegrass)
Absolutely stunning. Not only covering such an amazingly written song, but making it her own. Like you said, if you didn’t know who wrote it first Eminem might seem like a cover. Phenomenal cover.
Black or white, city or country, what binds us together is emotion and experience. Those lyrics could apply to any trailer park in Deep South or a low income area in any city in the country. We all go through the same struggles, we all have the same feelings of desperation trying to provide for our families.
@@beblogs I did 😂 been watching this cover for months! Can’t believe how few reactions it’s had … guess people give up after 30 seconds … thanks for respecting her version 💜
When I first heard it, I thought damn she’s taking to long to slow. Once I heard the whole thing I was blown away. To the point I reckon the starts melancholy and slow pace is what makes that last parts anger and energy so impactful. Normally in songs I find swearing to be just thrown in to sound cool or bad. But here it feels like an exclamation point on what’s happening. Slim shady is a master writer and his song is an epic. But this is a sonic tapestry in kaseys hands.
Just wanted to say I go back and watch this about once a month my man. One of the greatest ‘surprised’ reactions ever seen on RU-vid. I loved the initial skepticism, then you’re inching closer, and when you were in? You were IN, saying “Come on!’ before big moments etc. Great work!
🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾💕💕💕really appreciate it I can really say her an her family won me over like I didn’t see this coming AT ALL Even to this day I her that song I think of this video an how she completely took his song from him 🤭🫂❤️great work
Hey man, thanks for responding to my request - respect mate 🙏 I knew this wouldn't disappoint. It's brilliant to be able to experience such creativity and totally flip something that a lot of us wouldn't have thought possible. Glad you liked it, have a great day.
I’ve watched a lot of reactions to this and yours is up there with the very best. As an Australian, I’d really like to thank you for your honesty, your willingness to be open to something different and your intelligent and observant response. You understood it completely. 🙏
Omg 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾❤️❤️🫂 Beautiful comment i definitely take this seriously an with a open mind so this just shows that’s your really watching me an them at the same time 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🌎
I've been a fan of Kasey's for over twenty years, and saw her live in Detroit when she opened for Lucinda Williams at a renovated church that was turned into a medium sized club. There is *nothing* she can't do. I never in my life heard anyone play a banjo that way.
@@beblogs Well she had a band, I dunno how many were family. Go look for the song Ain't No Little Girl. That's another good one from her; I think it's original. And I always liked Barricades and Brick Walls. These are more in line with what we call Alt Country in the US.
Your reaction was priceless. She absolutely blew me away the first time as well. Wasn't expecting it to get so hard. I grew up in the 80s with some amazing heavy metal and the end of this just thrilled me. Thanks so much for this video.
I'd say that Kasey really did LOSE HERSELF. If you like a different kind of Cover, you have to listen to John Farnham doing his own cover of the Beatles classic "HELP". Do the one Live with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. I was just waiting for that upbeat to hit you. I was really smiling waiting for your reaction. Thanks for the reaction mate.
Em gave Kasey permission to put this on Spotify so he must've heard it and approved. I'd kill to have seen his first reaction to it though. I was dubious about her doing this as she's known here in Australia for country/roots/ folk style music and that's not my thing but like you... I really loved her version of this. She rocked it out!
@stanroach2842 Oh, okay. Cheers for the info as I wasn't aware that he didn't own the rights. I did read somewhere that he had seen the Kasey Chambers version of Lose Yourself and liked it. Imo it's beyond reprehensible that artists don't have the rights to their own music, especially whilst they're still alive. Thanks for filling me in mate.
I just LOVE cross-genre covers! Disturbed covering The Sound of Silence. Hugo covering 99 Problems. Linkin Park covering Rolling in the Deep. Honestly, too many great artists to ever listen to them all!
A cover for you to try is John Farnham with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra doing the Beatles, "Help". He owns that version now, it's not the same song. Brilliant. Farnham and Jimmy Barnes (with Deisel on guitar) also cover the old classic, "When Something Is Wrong With My Baby". Probably the old Hey Hey It's Saturday version is best. Vanessa Amarossi covering "Natuaral Woman" with Dave Stewart is a ripper.
I can't believe I missed this one from you!!! Ive watched plenty others and never knew you reacted to it... WTF. I LOOOOOVE this! and you did your thing giving props when props are due...You are one my FAVORITE reactors EVER. Its your heart I can see. Thank you.
Omg 😳 EVER THAT SOMETHING I HAVE TO WORK HAD TO KEEP THIS MEANS SO MUCH TO ME AN IDK HOW THIS ONE SLIPPED BY YOU OMG THE WHOLE FAMILY I MEAN THE WHOLE TALENTED THIS WAS AMAZING
Really love your reaction and your appreciation of a famous rap song being switched to country/folk/rock. Kasey did a brilliant job with the arrangement and the way she performed it with passion grit and angst is fabulous
It's her Dad on the steel slide guitar....... I truly believe Kasey is phenomenal..... I believe that perhaps she is the reincarnation of Janis Joplin........ truly talented, beautiful and amazing....... her and her husband make brilliant songs together as well......
just goes to show how good the song is, it has great lyrics and good bones, but it has to have that passion in there to make it work, and oh man that was workin.
Thanks for doing this one! This gives me chills every single time I hear it. Kasey is very under appreciated and needs to be recognised more on an international scale! Kasey is a master of storytelling, conveying lyrics and emotion! She is an icon in the Australian music industry, mostly for country and folk, but has her own style and is never afraid to delve into something outside the box. She is just getting better as she gets older. I really hope that Eminem has seen this and appreciates that his song and lyrics were re-imagined in such a spectacular way. I guess he has as he did give her permission to upload to Spotify etc. Would really like to hear what he thought about it though. Where else would you see banjo, pedal steel guitar and rock band together? Kasey started her solo commercial career around the same time as Eminem and she was a big fan of his music. Kasey spent lockdown playing around with some of her favourite songs and this version of Lose Yourself is the result. Brilliant! Kasey has spent her whole solo career bucking the constraints of the record companies and always gone her way. She made it to the top in Aussie music anyway with many awards, becoming the youngest ever ARIA Hall of Fame recipient. BTW….how was that for breath and vocal control? Not to mention the awesome arrangement. ❤ Also, that was Kasey’s Dad, Bill, on the steel guitar.
Thanks for doing this reaction mate, can't believe it was on your channel. Was going to request it last week when I sent you Lp halo cover. Thanks again for playing this, it's a great cover
I liked it from the first bar, but I had no clue where we are going. This is Patti Smith level! Do you know Patti? Just spent 20 mins trying to find a Patti Smith live version with good audio version that is under 12 minutes, but failed. Could recommend an audio only, if you fancy?
hahahahah Thanks so much for your great reaction i loved it and yeah that is Kaseys Dad on the slide guitar there hahah great reaction you made my day mate
Am I in the Matrix ... I was literally watching the half time super bowl Eminem lose yourself, and before that watching knox Hill doing the MGK and Eminem battle. Your one of my favourite REN reaction. Something strange going on tonight. Much love from the UK bro 🇬🇧 👊🔥
BOOM BOOM BOOM thank you so much for this frfr An I definitely appreciate the favorite ren part Because there’s a sea of reactors on the GOAT 🙏🏾🙏🏾 Mean a lot frfr
I haven’t left a comment until now (I don’t think I did), I’ve watched this 5 or 6 times over the last few months. I couldn’t enough reactions, I was so awsestruck. Anyway, I was wondering if you’ve ever heard K-RINO? My first track by him was ANNIHILATION OF THE EVIL MACHINE, then GRAND DECEPTION and DEPROGRAMMED, which then led to almost 100 tracks by him. Someone told me he’s on over 1500 tracks. I’m not sure but I know it’s over 500 for sure. I hope you can check him out. This was badass!!
Glad to see you are growing. Been caught up in life drama. Love your realness in your reactions. look forward to watching your reactions that I have missed
🫂🙏🏾❤️glad to have you back Definitely understand the life part An DONT worry we always gone hold ya spot here wit the fam Hope everything is a getting better bro 🤘🏾💯
The music sounds distorted you might want to change your setting a bit to stop it from happening. I nearly didn’t watch this reaction because of it. Luckily I’m completely addicted to reactions to this song 😂❤
