KASHMIR FILE - Vyeth Television 

The series was made at the peak of militancy when filming of any kind was considered dangerous in the valley. It was the era before mobile camera's and DSLR's. And even the electronic media was largely absent in the state.
It was in these circumstances that the project was conceived. As an expression of the state's history, art, culture, folklore and politics of the times. An alternative to the civil unrest that dominated the Jammu & Kashmir narrative.
The project taking off in itself was a bit of a wonder. Allowing multiple formats (amateur camera's) for broadcast was another miracle. But most significantly the viewership it recieved from the state in it's year and a half run was the actual surprise.
The project was Produced by Vyeth Television for Doordarshan.
Conceived by Arun Kaul. And developed in collaboration with numerous academics, scholars and artists from the state of Jammu & Kashmir
