MARDAN, Khyber Pukhtunkhwa, Aug 1 (APP): The Cave of Kashmir, locally called Kashmir Smasta, is situated in the scenically beautiful mountains of village Pir Sai, Mardan district of Khyber Pukhtunkhwa, Pakistan.
The huge cave is surrounded by centuries old remains of an independent Hindu state in the mid of Gandhara civilization back in 4th century AD to the 9th century AD.
Archeologists find it interesting that a Hindu society with a formal government survived for some five hundred years while entire region was dominated by the Budhists in the Gandhara valley.
Kashmir Smasta may not only be of interest to the students of ancient civilizations. The valley is a perfect place for a day long hike in the 3000ft high mountains with stunning variety of beautiful green colors of nature.
