@ 04:45 You should always extend a telescopic rod from the tip first, and the bottom section last, and vice versa when collapsing it. That way you can also align the guides as you pull it out, and don't need to move backwards later to the reel end ! Useful as well if you have it rigged already with a lure etc, you can just free-spool it as you extend, and you're good to go.

I hike and frequent the beach and beach (in Israel) and im looking to get into fishing. Is the kind of rod people use for dock fishing? Also, rookie question here: What does it mean that this rod is designed for a 15 pound line? Is that the tensile strength of the line? Or the combined weight of the line, line weights, and the fish being caught? Thanks

You can use these rods for many applications. The 15 pound designation is the line diameter recommended size. Sure, you can go bigger or smaller but it all depends on the fish you are targeting.

sure is a big claim, go find one within that price range and test it on a 40-50 lb catfish! before trying the blackhawk I broke several telescopic rods on fish 1/4th this size

I want a rod and spincast reel for my wife to catch catfish. She lost a nice channel cat on a cheap setup. I'm thinking about a Zebco 808 with a telescopic rod. Will this spinning rod work with a spincast reel?

I know the lure rating was up to 3/4 of an oz, but do you think the rod can effectively cast 2-3oz? And if not do you guys make any telescopic rods that can manage that?

It looks really awesome, but I shocked it's only rated for 8-15lb line and 1/4-3/4 lure... When I'm catfishing I'll use 2-3 oz lead plus a chunk of bait.

I was wondering this as well, I think that if Kastking can produce a product like the blackhawk (thick carbon fiber tubing, stiff, strong) but for a baitcaster, it could be a huge hit!

Mid-Atlantic Fishing : Ya man! just imagine how cool that rod would be to fit in a small back bag . by the way baitcaster reels are awesome for professional fishing and guess what ? it's much easier when casting n reeling . i will never buy spinner again , ever . all i need is an unbreakable (cheap☺) telescopic super duper baitcasting rod , and i will be the happiest in the world ☺☺☺ . greetings

Telescopic baitcasters don't work out as well since a baitcasting rods have the guides on top and baitcasting rod handles have an up and down orientation.

KastKing makes sense, the rotational moment created by the line tension would tend to flip the guides.

KastKing . thanks . i don't know if you'll believe me when i tell U that i am actually using a baitcaster reel on a spinner rod with no problem at all , i even made a smart modification by adding a plastic trigger , now it looks and works just fine ☺ . my rod is 2.7m in two pieces which doesn't fit in my little bag . that's why am thinking about a telescopic one with all happy technology features on it ☺ . we are in 2016 , nothing impossible ☺☺ .

I might go kastking to give a difference to my wife's piscifun set up. To add some difference as neither brand are in the UK. Yet seam high quality and affordable. Do the 5000 rated reels deal with braid very well?

Hello, I would recommend either the sharky II, or orcas II for this rod, preferably in one of the larger sizes, 5000 or so for the larger size Blackhawk Rods. Kastking also will have some new reels coming out this year so keep your eyes out for those!

What type of rig were you using? I just ordered mine 8"10 & I live in hawaii, I got a 7"medium action rod & the type of rigs I use are bottom rigs, I throw a triple swivel with a 2pz lead weight attatched to it. However the max lure weight on this rod is 3/4 oz. I'm kinda trippin because this video shows that this rod is tough enough to handle a 40pound catfish, so do you think throwing a 2oz weight would be a good idea?

Mr96706bangah though the rod is not rated for that much, many people have had no issues throwing that much weight, it would be best to ask kastking. I was throwing about 6 oz total including my bait.

We offer fishing rods from around 6 feet in length to around 12 feet in length for the BlackHawk rods. For the rod length, It depends on the style of fishing you are doing.

Alex Godwin this rod is available in several sizes, I think anything around 8-9 feet would fit your needs. I just actually ordered a second 11 footer to pair with a KastKing orcas II, and a 5 foot 10 KastKing ranger telescopic rod for catching bait fish, I'd check out the various sizes of the options in those rod series.

Ultimate Fishing Addict so I'm the one fishing in the video, to answer your question, a nice long Rod can really improve casting distance, which can be very helpful if you're trying to cast out past rocks and to the center of a river where the water is deepest also for me personally I find that the length actually helps gain leverage on the fish which is helpful when you're dealing with fish that can be upwards of 50 plus pounds
