A quick breakdown of the Katadyn Steripen Ultra Rechargeable UV light. The Steripen is a portable UV light that purifies 1L of water in 90 seconds. This is a must have for every backcountry backpacker, hiker, and hunter.
Just fyi. I bought one used off eBay not working. Popped it open and it's a 18650 battery with 2 pronged leed. Bought a new one popped it in and it works fine. Only cost me $15
Bought mine a few years ago ago never used it but kept it charged 2024 dead. I was in search of your comment I knew someone had a fix good job. Thanks.
@@readimixer yes easy fix. Here is a link to the battery I used the end connector is slightly different so I Just need to cut harness from battery that's in it, cut the end off new one solder them together and use heat shrink tubing. When you put it back together it's a tight fit. At least it was with mine but it may have been because I used electrical tape on top of the heat shrink tubing.
@@cariboumediaoutdoors - I plan to buy one of the SteriPens for our “Lights Out Grid Down” home prep. We aren’t campers or hikers, so we don’t have any hands on experience for situations that’d call for a portable 𝐇₂𝐎 UV tool. Which model would you recommend for an elderly couple? We are prepped for about 3 months of 𝐇₂𝐎 plus gravity filters, Berkey & ceramics. We’d like a SteriPen just to have so if we had to go mobile, that we wouldn’t be totally dependent on others 𝐇₂𝐎 wise.
I like the Ultra because it has a rechargeable battery. If you ever needed to recharge and didn't have electricity, you could always use a solar panel or portable power bank to recharge it.
