Just a quick video on the Katadyn Vario and Hiker Pro together The green on the ceramic filter of the vario is just the scrubber pad from when I gave it a scrub when it was dry it does wash off For more info goto www.katadyn.com
Thank you for your video comparison. Price difference between both = $20. Think I will go with the VARIO. Question: Is it recommended after filtering water to place tablets or drops of (iodine) ? Thank you.
Luis Cosme If you know that it is likely that the water has pathogen contaminants, then do it. (i.e. you are hiking in a low land very warm climate and you are getting your water out of a standing pool or slow moving stream). If you are in upland areas with cool weather and fast moving streams, you will be fine without. The Varios does filter out some pathogens with the ceramic filter, but always ere on the side of caution when it comes to hydration, illness, and dehydrations in the backcountry.
@@adlippymtbI never filter water and drink it direct from lakes, rivers and streams. The human body is the best filter. They each weigh as much as my down jacket...so would rather not carry extra heavy non-essential items in the pack. By the way... I had to chuckle each time the bottle 🍼crashed and rolled on the noisy metal 😂
