Am I the only one who noticed that the katakana for "ni" is drawn as the kanji for the number 2, which is read as "ni"? That's quite a helpful coincidence.
Oh my god thank God for making this after I learned all hiragana I tried learning katakana but you teach so well so it was easier to learn and every other way that I’m trying to learn didn’t work so thank you so much for putting this out

Like from 2yrs I have been learning Japanese and given exams, I can't understand anything in my school soo I learned from this only and now I understand hiragana and can speak a little I am going to learn from this only!! Thanks a lot miss stao ❤❤

Your Hiragana and Katakana videos are excellent and have taught me the hiragana and katakana. Thank you very much. ^^ Seen at 23:58 "ヴ" is (vu). ブ (bu) is another way of approximating the same foreign sound.
Thank you for your comment! I’m really glad to hear that my video helped your learning☺️ありがとうございます！ Please note that ヴ cannot be replaced with ブ when it’s combined with small letters such as ｧ､ｨ､ｪ､ｫ. (Contracted sounds explained in the video) For example; Vampire ヴァンパイア or バンパイア Not ブァンパイア Vegan ヴィーガン or ビーガン Not ブィーガン Since we don’t have actual “v” sound in Japanese, even though it’s written with ヴ, the pronunciation is still “b” in バビブベボ. We can see some people’s efforts by seeing both ヴィーガン and ビーガン😅 Some people are like “It’s not Began, it’s Vegan!! Use different letter for V!!!” Then we have both now😂
it seems (to me) that most katakana lessons emphasize visual recognition of the kana rather than how it is written (stroke order) the focus on how to properly write characters in this vid' was VERY helpful... thanks and Kudo's to Satou's Nihongo Playground !
I spent a few hours today drilling hiragana today and feel somewhat good. I see everywhere that you should learn the kana in one day if you actually try, or two days if very slow learner or lazy. Seeing as I'm about to go to bed I'm quite solidly in the very slow or lazy category. Thank you for this video, it gives me a headstart for tomorrow's katakana. I believe with enough diligence and tenacity I will get the katakana down and still meet criteria for slow or lazy student. Bronze medal for learning in two days. Will likely have to review both each day for a while to refresh or unforget, make sure it's solid. But it's been fun. Idk much Kanji but it's very cool feeling reading furigana after just one day. In six days I want to start grinding vocabulary and Kanji. Maybe 1,000 words, then is time for taking off training wheels and straight grind it, making flash cards for every word or grammar I don't understand that is encountered while reading or watching stuff. All my time is spent reading or watching stuff anyway, might as well learn it in original form.

I have been following your videos for a few weeks now and I have been having a really enjoyable and productive experience, thank you so much for not only the hard work you put in, but for your enthusiasm as well. I have a few questions I have for you, in all your videos, you always recommend that we should always try to read and write more Japanese in order to improve, and so I’ve been going through all your practice activities, doing them on my own and making sure I master the material, I was wondering if there’s something more I could do to improve my Japanese? Perhaps you could recommend a book or a website where I could read beginner Japanese material in order to further develop my Japanese and gain a bit more of a deeper understanding. Another question I have is on how you’re able to type in hiragana and katakana characters into your mobile device, would it be possible for you to give a few suggestions on how I could go about doing this? Or if I should stick to romanji instead when practicing or typing? I’ve been busy and feeling sorry for uploading less videos recently… I introduced some Japanese learning apps in other video and you can practice beginner grammar and vocabulary from those apps. There’s an app (also website) called ‘Easy Japanese’. You can read Japanese news articles and if there’s any words you don’t know, just tap it to check its meaning. You need to know basic grammar to read through those articles, so I recommend that you start with textbooks or apps to learn basics and then move on to reading news articles or Japanese stories to improve more👍🏻 In order to type Japanese on your mobile phone, you need to change the keyboard setting or install keyboard app like ‘simeji’. Once the setting is done, you will be able to switch the keyboard to English and Japanese easily. Basically, we firstly type hiragana only, and then choose kanji or katakana from predictions appear on top of the keyboard. It’s really hard to explain😂 I’m sorry for my bad explanation… I’m gonna upload a video about typing Japanese soon✨

🤔I am seeing your video and for each katakana showed the same time do you write what is the hiragana to type, this is always one should know it that letter in both from syllabary to write it, right!!??

Thank you for showing a way to remember this. However, I find this analogies tortured. Like for タ I have to remember the tired cook, how he looks, how he wears his hat and how these lines go on his hat. For anyone, struggling with this, I suggest just taking a bunch of words and starting writing them in katakana. It's ok to look at the chart. Some you'll remember easier, for some you'll need more practice.

I’m sorry that I couldn’t think of any better mnemonics…especially for タ… It was not easy to creat mnemonics for almost 100 hiragana and katakana😭 You’re totally right and ‘taking a bunch of words and writing them in katakana’ is what we (Japanese teachers) suggest and writing them again and again is also what you have to do to learn kanji as well. I saw many students who were shocked or depressed when they first saw 46 hiragana and 46 katakana chart. There are only 26 letters in the alphabet, so many of them often find it annoying and difficult to learn these letters. I made these mnemonics in hopes that it makes it a little more fun and easier when people just start Japanese learning. I want them to make a good start😊(even with my poor drawings) Thank you for watching my video and I really appreciate your opinion🙏🏻 I’ll do my best to make more helpful and useful videos for Japanese learners😊
@@satous-nihongo-playground Thank you for your reply, Satou-sensei. I definitely agree that katakana with its "angly" look is a way more challenging for making mnemonics. So thank you for doing this! I was able to find some kana that were easy to remember. Also, I watched your other videos, for example about verbs and markers. They are pure gold, I really enjoy the flow of your lessons. They are not too fast and not too slow and extremely helpful! Thank you! You found yourself a new subscriber.
Thank you for your comment! We don’t actually use ‘ワォ’ in any Japanese words. Only situation we use it is when we say ‘Wow.’ The pronunciation is almost same as English. So ヲ and ワォ are different in their usage and pronunciation. Hope it helps!
