Early interview on Swap Shop by Noel Edmonds. This has been wiped by the BBC - there is a fuller version of this on RU-vid but the quality on this clip s a bit better.
Watching these old interviews of Kate literally make me cry. I'm 50 now, but have been in love with her and her music since I was a teenager in Poland. The innocence, purity, genuineness, sincerity, kindness, and knowing what was to come for her and the genius she would grace us with is just overwhelming. Transposed with the shallowness, vanity, and lack of talent these days, this is particularly moving. There is not a gram of vanity or entitlement in this woman. What a beautiful human being she is. I feel really fortunate to have grown up with her music and always appreciated it. Thank you, Kate.
She's so sweet to the children calling in, she's just the purest soul on earth. "EEEEEEEEE...it's very early in the morning" she's so adorable. This is one of my favorite videos with her, my heart...also the guy interviewing her is so nice, that's rare.
Kate's so adorable here. She's so sweet to the children and has a great interaction with them. And the children are very polite and well-mannered which is rare and even shocking nowadays.🤷🏻♀️
What makes Kate so fascinating is the fact that her music is so deep, so inspired, such an enigma while she herself is elegant, graceful, beautiful, poetic, but yet, she's always been so humbled and down-to-earth that you'd think you were talking to the girl-next-door. She comes off as a simple girl with a kind disposition until she records a song she wrote and then she becomes other-worldly. It's as fascinating to watch her talk as it is to watch her perform. Kate Bush is like finding out that Tom Hanks was a literary giant in the field of quantum physics. They say everyone has two sides, but Kate Bush is ridiculous.
You've pretty much summed up why she's one of my heroes; there's a mystical nature to her music that is endlessly intriguing yet she herself comes across as very modest and lovely.
It's great seeing this again. I was watching at the time. Wonderful how all the kids who rang in were so polite, engaged and intelligent back then. I miss those days.
Loveliest person in the music business. Even after 40 years as a brilliant artist, she's still as sweet, gracious, and humble as ever. Such a class act.
35 years later and i still haven't found a sweeter person in the whole world. Countless hours of all kinds of music listening, still haven't found a more talented, unique, sensitive, progressive, alternative, recording ARTIST,singer, writer, musician, producer, director of my dreamlife. I was 9 years old, when you answered these phone calls, right in the begining of my music journey, Kate.. I'm so thrilled, about your live performances, this summer, i just can't wait to see YOU, KATE , my Supersonic sunshine, I adore you!!!
Yes my friend, of course i love Bjork! She's so special.. Kate, Bjork, Tori Amos, all these amazing women, make a big difference to my ears.. and to my soul... Greetings from Greece ☼
Noel Edmond's conducting an exquisite interview with Kate Bush, priceless in my favourite year of 1979! How life was so innocent then and everyone was polite and had respect, my how times have changed! I first heard Kate Bush singing Wuthering Heights on Paul Holmes Drive Time on Swansea Sound 257 in 1978 and immediately bought ' The Kick Inside ' what a classic song and a great album!
England .my lionheart is my favourite too. I was upset at all troubles going on in england and remembered this song listening to it today and went on kate bush binge on youtube .I had all her albums. She also lives in devon and same constituency as me😊
She’s just so chill. Doing what she loves and what makes her happy. And luckily for us brings others delight. I am just rediscovering her after liking some of her music when I was a teen, but now I am older, I can really appreciate the nuances.
I didn't think I could be in love with Kate anymore than I already was until I watched this adorable, but strange, interview. As far as I'm concerned, Kate Bush is the most perfect woman to ever walk on Earth!
True humility! Doesn't think of herself as a singer with one of the best and most interesting voices ever in pop music??? Amazing singer, songwriter and later, producer!
Oh god! I have the same dimples and I’ve always hated them terribly. I’m glad people fancy them at all. Sometimes I look at Kate because she’s so beautiful, just to remind myself they aren’t really a trouble. It’s nice to see people who share a feature, sometimes. It’s a comfort. I do adore Kate.
Absolute class, smart and beautiful, down to earth, the list is never ending. It looks like the times were different too, never lived in the UK in fact i live in Beirut but the kids on the phone were all well behaved and were fans of really good music at young age.
Holy s@#$ she was incredibly beautiful!!!!! When she was speaking on that ridiculous phone for a moment and the camera came in close,.Something in her eyes!!! I felt suddenly as though I had stepped off a cliff into some sort of deep warm chasm,.it actually startled me,..her beauty is soooo deep and her soul shines through her like an intense bright light,..it draws you in,...Where is she from? Somewhere far away? Long ago? Amazing ,..like a little pixie!!! Or a White Witch maybe?
When there’s someone as good as Kate is in their field, a good interview will get a lot out of them. It’s about the work and her willingness to communicate the ideas and concepts at it’s core. Her work will remain relevant and played simply because it’s genre busting and not subject to the same fashionable forces that sink more commercially minded work. A true artist with something to say.
Absolutely adorable. If mankind could get more inspiration from the likes of Kate this world would be such a nice place ❤️ I love what she is saying about the man with the child in his eyes because it is so true. Sad about the laughter from the male ‘audience’ or studio crew?
I remember seeing this like it was just yesterday. Kate is a genius and always grounded. The old Saturday morning swap shop on the beeb with Noel, Cheggers and co was great
All future female artists take inspiration from this amazing down to earth legend what a beautiful woman on every level ' hard act to follow in every way!!
The 2nd TOTP appearance was a real testament to Kate. The backing band wasn't hers and they were woefully under-rehearsed and couldn't play the pre-chorus in time, but she kept it going!
This was the cutest video ever of Kate Bush!!! And, may I say, I miss the time we used to carry the bulky phone to speak to people... it felt better!!!
I've adored Kate Bush since my wonderful HS girlfriend, circa 1981...an Air Force brat that lived near Birmingham for bit, introduced me to Kick Inside and Lionheart. Anyone who gets Kate Bush can't put it onto words. i'm one of them.
We know the Queen honoured her yrs ago with a CBE for her musical contributions and lyrical/compositional artistry, but shouldn’t KB been upgraded to Dame by now? She’s definitely the Dame in her field of endeavour!
Kate's an absolute gem, talented , stunning and very classy. What the hell has happened to today's female singers ? They make you ashamed to be English!
I absolutely love these old interviews when she was like 19 or 20 she's so beautiful and adorable. I'm a great admirer of her music and her as an artist one of the all time greats and a living legend i just love Kate Bush so much she's a true inspiration. Everytime i listen to her music it makes me so happy and gets me in a great mood. If i need something to get me thru the day all i have to do is listen to her music and i'm ready to go. 💖🙏
