Yes...it is the terror of every Dutch mother I can tell you to find your kid drowned under the ice. Evn just a few cm and you just cannot break it from below. Many have died during icespeedskating including the father of the wife of our prince Friso, Mabel Wisse Smith, died that way. And Prins Friso, her husband, died under snow. A tragic life for this wonderful woman....
This is excellent, agreed, but have you seen fanclips to KB's music by "MrMarrs"? They are brilliant and what he put together for the whole "Ninth Wave" will leave you jaw dropped, I guarantee it.
Słucham, podziwiam i wam polecam! ❤❤❤
I went skating near my village and came under ice for 20 secs an found my way out as a young boy and survived ! I can relate to this beautiful haunting song. I did not stop river skating .
It's wonderful Everywhere, so white The river has frozen over Not a soul on the ice Only me skating fast I'm speeding past trees Leaving little lines in the ice Cotting out, little lines in the ice Splitting, splitting sound Silver heels spitting, spitting snow There's something moving under Under the ice moving Under ice through water Trying to It's me Get out of the cold water It's me Something It's me Someone, help them
Glad I do not suffer from Anxiety, Paranoia, or depression because this would definitely put someone over the edge. Such an amazing song from such an amazing artist.
I completely agree with Edwin Vasquez. You've done dramatic justice to this incredible song. I've always felt the terror in this song in my imagination. But now you've put together a wonderful visual accompaniment. Merci beaucoup.
i wish people would appreciate kate bush more. the fake fans would only like her because of running up that hill, when thats only the bare minimum of what she has to offer. the whole hounds of love album is so underrated, so is kate herself. her music has such an impact on this world.
"fake fans" are just new fans. I only listened to the Hounds Of Love album when I first got into her. Gatekeeping is only gonna discourage people from enjoying more Kate Bush they don't already know.
When the album came out, it was a harsh winter - and at the time I was reading H.E. Bates' Love for Lydia, a novel which opens with skating on open rivers... so I have very real sense of ice and danger... this video captures it perfectly. Brilliant - if disturbing...
This video is FANTASTIC!!! I love it. In my head I had slightly different picture of her skating (I imagined it being set in the early 1900's with time typical clothing) but this video is amazing. Thank you. 😊⛸
Love this video!! I had thr Same vision as yours mine was set at night and her going fast but making like figure 8’s and figure skating moves Kate was such a great interpretive (sic) modern dancer
Of all the video people who make clips of The Ninth Wave, for this song, this one hits the nail on the head. For Kate's Own Video Talents, I was just a little disappointed She didn't do these herself. Of the people that have made videos for these songs, Mr Mars did a good job, except for this song. I guess he can't win them all.
@menro1 Under Ice is one of the most evocative and stunning pieces of work that Kate Bush has ever recorded. And this is the best fan-made video I have ever seen. I thought it was official for a very long time It could be very well an official video. Great work!👍😃
This song goes back to my childhood days, skating on The Brook near pobox 938 County Road Richmond ME~next to Margaret and Basilio Steele. Me and my dogs Sandy and Cleo.
For me the song has a different notion with another result in the end. The "moving under the ice" I don't relate to despair, but relief, as it calls for help which will be there - at least after the wakeup. But this video touches me a lot as well with that great song.
I fell through ice once when I was 15 and all by myself except for my dog. Dolmation, border collie, dingo mix. The suction with the break through works to suck you under. I luckily grabbed onto the edge which remained solid and hoisted myself out from the inward current. I sank up to my chin before I prayed myself out. It was one of the most, probably at the time THE MOST EYE POPPING, NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCE at that time of my life. Haven't had too many others, if any really that topped it. Ran my dog home, which wasn't far, got out of my soaked clothes and got some tea brewing. This was Jan/Feb. '01, when we had Winters that hit us on the East Coast here in PA. Happy Thanksgiving. Thankful for Beautiful Music and quick reflexes, and the ability to keep calm rather than panic when it's in dire need. Also, among Many other things, including but not limited to, Fam and Friends, Freedom and Democracy. Grand post of yours here.
Love this so much, I just wonder though at the end isn't it supposed to be her seeing herself under the ice? Looks like it's a different actor but maybe I'm wrong! Love the vibe of this
I feel "there's Something... under the Ice... It's Me... " means "I'm here, under the ice of Antartica, trying to reach out"... your past, your future. "Search for me, save me, save me to know who you are!"
It's like a short horror story with a shock ending, but it's sad as all get out. It's a confrontation of mortality from the most vulnerable position, once its over all you can do is reflect.
@@james-russellgause4735 I like how the complex story is told in very few words and the music is matchingly complex with very few instruments.... it's magically haunting
Kate is no work on these spot. Kate's voice but efrct I don't know. I don't know for Princ or Erik Klapton and Elton John but for Sid I'm sure. Fish people going wrong. We don't have all the time material of Kate Bush . It is fortunat for good woman to take care for me. I'm dot of Kate Bush
We have I think 561 named lakes here in Canada. Many others without names and too many people die every winter this way. I'd never go out on the ice, no matter how thick they said it was. Awful way to die.
The Ninth Wave (the B side of the album The Hounds of Love), which is where this song comes from, ends on a happy note. Kate confirmed during Before the Dawn that the woman is saved at the end. Prior to that, people weren’t sure if the character died and was finally at peace or if she had been rescued. Apparently she had been rescued. The final song, The Morning Fog, is the ending to The Ninth Wave.
