the reason shalom walked the way she did is because you were able to remember her by her walk. She distinguished herself from every other model because her walk was so different and unique which is why she was in so many different shows and known by so many ppl
@@kpeezyforsheezy Linda Evangelista said at the time "I won't get out bed for less than $10 000 a day" !! In the 90s that was a lot of money and it was a much smaller group of super-models, so they did ALL the shows. That was the beginning of big salaries,.big contracts, and the 'cult of personality' on the runway
@@mmcs4973 can’t speak for the 90s, the ladies I know have been models from mid 00’s til present day and while they do have great paying contracts you’d be surprised how often they’re made to do shows for free. Even having the names that they have.
I see nothing special in her walk, no elegance or energy. This is my personal opinion, you can have a different but like, no she is not smn in the one of the best catwalkers category.
I don't agree. You have to acknowledge that all these models with signature walks, can further be distinguished walking by whichever designer they're representing...and Todd oldheim definitely wasn't the epitome poise and refinement. That wasn't his style. As such, the models that went down his runway were much more playful and loose with their walks than some of the other more notorious designers of the 90's where she would walk in a more "serious or poised" manner while maintaining the same style of walk.
Shalom knew when to throw attitude. She knew when to be fun. When to be elegant and sophisticated. She was versatile. She breathed life into the clothes. One of the best models ever. ♥️🥰👏🙌
Shalom's walk is iconic for a reason; it's so playful and unique, and she always looks like she's having the most fun on the runway. It's so refreshing to see.
Seriously I fail to see how her walk is that good. And I'm not even a fan of a particular model, but with Kate Moss there walking beside her, it's hard not to compare and feel that Shalom's walk is so awkward and messy, whereas Kate's walk looked sensual and graceful.
@@MultiBigbird01 Idk what it is, but I really love Shaloms walk. It's really fun to watch, like you can watch it over and over. Idk why. I know it looks a bit awkward. But it really like it.
"she looks drunk" "she walks like a robot" "she walks like she's a fall risk patient" i think that's the whole point, her distinctive walk is what made her popular. not many models have the guts to be different due to fear of being ridiculed. i love her attitude on the runway. her and leon dame made runways fun to watch
I think the " point" or goal is to look attractive, not have the audience wonder if you're drunk or you have an injury. I've never seen her walk and I had wondered if she's both, so I'd say she's failed, but that's just my opinion.
@@ArtWars314That's not the point lmao. RUNWAY modelling isn't all about looks. You needed to have a signature walk, made clothes breathe, and match every single theme of the runway.
@@snowlise3127 IMAO Right because that's definitely the number 1 priority of a DESIGNER, that spends millions to put on a show is to show off a distinctive and distractive walk of a model..to show OFF the MODEL THEMSELVES and to put the focus on the model to the point that it distracts from the clothing itself because audience are focused & distracted by the "SIGNATURE" walk of the model. Drawing the attention to the clothing itself.. for the sake of making it attractive and to increase in SALES.. is definitely NOT the purpose of the millions that are spend by these designers and companies that put on the show. It's all about the model and the clothing is secondary. In fact next time I think, the models should pick and make what to wear themselves and do their hair and makeup to their own liking and walk HOWEVER they like (maybe do the funky chicken, since that would make them TOTALLY distinctive and it would be their unique "SIGNATURE") to FEATURE THEM in the show... FORGET the designer and their clothes.. the models need to be featured.. not the DESIGNER'S clothes.... Making clothing look DESIRABLE/ attractive for the sake of sales.. who needs that???? It's all about the models!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 you're hilarious.. cheers.
@@snowlise3127 IMAO Yes that's ABSOLUTELY the goal and the reason designers and companies spend millions to put on a show, it's to feature the MODELS and their " SIGNATURE walk". The millions spent on the show. advertisements ( you can go on and on) is to showcase the model, and the designers work is definitely secondary. Making the clothing look attractive/ desirable and increasing in sales is definitely secondary I mean, it's all about the model. So what if their "signature" walk is distracting to the point the audience is no longer paying attention to the clothing but instead noticing the model itself because of their " SIGNATURE walk." In fact I think models should make their own clothing and do their own hair and makeup to their own liking ,not according to the designer/ company that hired them because the millions these companies spend on this is NOT to try to increase and attract sales but to FEATURE the models themselves. How dare the designers pay and own the show dictate how the models walk, dress or do their hair & makeup. In fact.. that money these companies spent should be a write off because they're not trying to increase a FOR PROFIT business in sales in their products, but they're donating it as a showcase to help the models out. And no.. in order for people to WANT to purchase your 'PRODUCT" in these case.. the clothing on their models... making it look ATTRACTIVE.. is definitely not crucial because it " isn't all about looks." Right because people buy clothing NOT for the way it looks,.. definitely DOESN'T matter how attractive or not clothing to the normal buyer... You are hilarious.. Cheers
They definitely represent their eras. Moss is smooth, sophisticated, and far more natural looking. While the other model comes off a bit desperate for attention. But, so what? She's beautiful, successful, and doing what she needs to do to make that big money while she can. So, good for her. I wish them both continued success
She has one of the hardest walks to imitate. Yes it's funny looking at times because it looks unhinged but every piece she wore in this collection became memorable because of her walk
i absolutely adore shalom, she knew exactly what she was doing with her walk, she distinguished herself from the rest of the models with her walk style.
@@monicahernandez6607 it's funny a lot of people see that when they look at her. Then you have people like myself who thinks she's the best ever. She is largely considered to have one of the very best walks in modeling history. I think she's amazing. We are the same age her and I and I have been watching her walk runways for decades and I think she's the 👑 legend
This era is when models said I don’t give a fuck!!!! And I’ll rock it! What personality and what a time to be a woman and be represented by these beautiful creatures!
Shalom's walk is intended to show off the clothes from every angle. The energy and sass in her walk sets the clothes moving. it's iconic. I resent those who don't appreciate this.
Designers loved her energy. She is in some of the most iconic moments in fashion - who can forget the McQueen dress being sprayed. Or Galiiano's origami wedding dress.
yall want women to hate each other so badly. Shalom is one of the most successful models of her time. Kate was serious right when she started walking and smiled at someone.
@teedub3984 Apparently the 2 of them were bffs. and ive seen them do this in several shows so i think its an act to pretend they hate each other but they're actually good friends
