Katelyn Tuohy runs the fastest EVER DMR anchor split to help NC State win bronze at ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships. Tuohy's 4:23.36 is faster than Elle Purrier St. Piere's anchor split on their DMR World record.
Katelyn Tuohy sacrifices the individual 5000m title to run for NC State's DMR team. Unfortunately, the three DMR runners were not able to keep it closer for Katelyn to realistically win it for them😢. Katelyn closed down the 9.4 second deficit in the 1200m mark and gave it her all in the last 400m. Katelyn ran the *fastest* DMR anchor leg of all-time, faster than the anchor time of the DMR world record. The DMR world record had the anchor time of 4:23.55 while Katelyn Tuohy's anchor time is 4:23.36 🤯. NC State splits 1200m - 3:24 400m - 58 800 - 2:06 1600m - 4:23 (Personal Best) ND runner passed Katelyn in the last 30 meters but that runner only ran 4:32, Katelyn ran 4:23, shows how much gap she closed to get her team a bronze.
OMG!! Down 8 seconds and what an awesome effort. That was an awesome and very impressive anchor leg. Running on indoor tracks takes so much more than speed, they make you work for every step. Totally different and more challenging than a flat track. Touhy putting down another PB. There just is absolutely no stopping her. A very respectable bronze for the Pack. I can't wait for the next one.
Maravillosa Katelyn, la mejor de todas las chicas y obvio que terminando la vuelta final fue sobrepasada pero el esfuerzo que hizo fue descomunal. Saludos a Katelyn desde Los Sauces CHILE.
Felt bad for Katelyn. The other girls didn't keep it close enough to give Katelyn a chance. Katelyn is such a good teammate that she sacrifices her own possible gold, so other girls can get a bronze. Hopefully if they go to nationals the other girls are able to run their best so Katelyn's efforts aren't wasted.
It's a matter if Savannah runs a better 1200 or they throw Kelsey in there. It's a team sport though where you give all the good runners a chance to contribute.
Seems strange they don't have better options. That's the NCAA champions in cross country. I guess they have the strength, but not the raw speed for middle distance.
That’s the second DMR in a row that Savannah Shaw has gotten them well behind to start the race. Have to look at another option for Nationals. Katelyn ran her ass off again!
If you want adrenaline, emotions, fascination and funny moments. TYou must watch a video of Katelyn Touhy. You'll never regret. What a perfect sportwoman. KT is E.T. she is not human. Greetings from Osorno, Chile.
5-10 years from now,I can see her dominating the marathon, sticking it to the ungrateful Africans. When Shalane Flanagan won in NY,that lousy African wouldn't congratulate her.
congratulations Katelyn, once again you gave 100% and that's all you can ask of yourself, and no disrespect to the others, they all deserve a thumbs up!
KT far outshines her competitors in this nearly making up a 9sec. deficit! Just look at the phenomenal precision in her form, her relaxation, her focus, her power, and her incredible speed.
When KT took the handoff I had tears in my eyes then my heart was pounding as she made up time and I was screaming "Go Katelyn, Go!!" This should be a training video for a "team Player." I Looove KT!! ❤Go Pack Go!!!
Gotta stop with the negative comments about her teammates. I'm 100% confident they tried their best, its a fast competition and a great race for all. KT ran one hell of a leg and so did the others. Keep up the great work ladies.
@@MrSupernova111 Awww, not getting the attention you needed to justify your opinion? Being critical of athletes is societal norm for trolls looking for validation. Wish you the best. 👍👍👍
Sad that Katelyn is being used this way, you only have so many races in you, this one was a waste and if this strategy continues will deal to peaking too soon, burnout, or injury.
I would say keep her out of this race. She has a greater chance of hurting herself by overextending her body, especially if she has to try and make up time for slower teammates. Keep her in the 5000.
She left nothing in the tank! So impressed with her fortitude. I was surprised the others didn’t perform better. A 58 in the 400 is not gonna cut it in a race like this.
She is running the 3k. This race wasn't far apart in scheduling from the 5k which Kelsey won and Sydney got 2nd. Katelyn ran this instead. Everything would have come up roses if Savannah ran a better 1200. Which she will at some point. Samantha ran a great 800 leg. But was too far back to notice. She gained ground though. The 400 was probably ok.
Katelyn, hi RU-vid video wow fast Runner that Great time in track wow, Good day 👍 seasons that fast job well done 👏 amazing California raining 🌧 day. Day by day.okay. say hunger in running college jacket and awards great 👍 👌 👏
What a ridiculous deficit Katelyn's teammates put her in and she almost pulled it off. She had no time for strategy, just had to run full out which cost them at least silver because she had nothing left for the last kick. If you can't win with KT on your team, you're not pulling your weight!
Realize that they have everybody covered with Samantha running the 800 and Katelyn the 1600m. Nobody can touch that combination. They just need a better 1200 and 400.
Bush ran 2:06, third fastest time in the third leg, btw her PR last year is 2:03 in the 800m, she could have totally gone faster, but maybe just not her day too.
@@katelyntuohyfans Yeah that could be true far as her being able to go faster. Haven't really been able to see her running style all that much. Camera is not up close on Samantha all that often. I know in XC she finishes fast. Tends to pass a lot of runners the last 1k. Which we never see(lol)!!! Maybe in this leg she also went out too fast trying to catch up? I'm pretty confident though in Samantha and Katelyn. They just need some help.
She is paying the price of her selfLESSness. Tuohy should know that track will always be an individual sport and its ok to chase individual goals. Look at her running the fastest ever anchor split in the world but still not enough to win. Her teammates let her down by that much, Tuohy should never run DMR ever again. Wasting energy.
Wow so the 1200m runner ran 3:24 which converts to around a 4:33-34 mile and y’all are hating on her… like When the F*** did 4:34 pace become slow? Like damn! I would say those splits were close, the 400 runner went 58 which honestly 56 is probably a better time for D1 but honestly I can’t believe these splits… y’all need to cut some slack😅😅😅
That's life. You can't win them all. In fact losing, even after giving your best, once in a while is a good way to stay humble. Although staying humble hardly seems to be an issue for Tuohy.
Don't understand what the coach was expecting in the DMR. KT had no help from teammates. She was like 6th when she got the baton at least half a lap behind. She ran a courageous race but perhaps went out too fast and I've never seen her get passed at the wire.
I wonder if Katelyn rotating certain events is necessary to avoid NC State transfers to non ACC schools. Lots of probable conference champions in the Wolfpack lineup.
Amazing race by KT with pb and the other 2 runners did good too. Too bad the 1200 meter runner is a bit slow due to injury recovery. Hopefully she will be better by summer at national and pick up 3 to 5 seconds faster than now.
the first runner (1200m) was 5 seconds behind the fastest 1200m split, the second runner (400m) was 6 seconds behind the fastest 400m split, the third runner (800m) was 2 seconds behind the fastest 800m split
@@katelyntuohyfans So the second runner was slower than I thought. Maybe the gap was so big to begin with I couldn't tell the difference from watching the race. LOL So 13 seconds total gap is way too big for KT to make up but it look like she did shaved off at least 8 to 10 seconds. For a minute I thought KT could get second but she ran out of steam the last 50 meters because the blistering pace at the beginning of her leg. Overall still an incredible run for KT and her team.
@@christophermatarese4982 I guess so. I will have to rewatch the race again. Ya, I can't tell because the camera only shows the leading pack runners by the time the 400 meter runner starts running for NC State. But KT did make this race really exciting to watch. LOL
No point of making Katelyn run DMR at nationals if running fastest DMR anchor split OF ALL TIME IN THE WORLD / FASTER THAN PROS is not enough to save them. Katelyn should focus on 5000m/3000m double!
@@katelyntuohyfans Or she can can go for 3 titles by doing the mile & DMR the 1st day and do the 3000m the next day. Still less distance for Tuohy than doing the 5000m/3000m double. Only if they give her a better team for the DMR.
The coaches for the 1st and 2nd place runners……… they must have had a heart attack watching Ms Tuohy leaving a smoke 💨 trail as she was eating up real estate. Beautiful runner…… a pleasure to watch and witness. “ Pre “ would have been very pleased.
Katelyn is a treasure, she is the only athlete I would ever want an autograph from and feel good having it forever. She is everything we hope for in our daughters as young women American home grown Patriots from NY TO BOOTH and reprinting the Deep South, how’s that for National UNITY. I hope she becomes an Olympian and some day make the National Soccer team, she would be a fan favorite and someone very young woman would want to emulate. No doubt her parents are exquisitely proud of this gem of a young woman. so inspirational. So dedicated and disciplined. Maybe a future decathlon? Perhaps she can transfer to UF and get a swim coach. I believe UF has an Olympic swim team. Go Touhy!!❤️🔥💖💝
Pretty well guarantee the only reason Duke ran as fast as it did was the coaches were yelling at them telling them Tuohy is closing quickly, they had to pick it up. Same with Notre Dame.
I think she's a pretty steady-state person, every race is part of the grander scheme of things so she'll give it her best effort regardless but she strikes me as someone who moves on from the last race. But who knows.
Shoot! If Caitlyn's team mates had run a little bit faster, a little bit better, as I know they could have, Caitlyn would have come in first. This is a great disappointment for the NC State team as a whole but not for Caitlyn.
these cross-country chicks kinda flip my wig sometimes... i mean? how on gods green earth did they cram in all these little cutie-pies all undr... under the same place i mean.
god-bless these ladies they will go far... they will all have huge vegetable gardens and little pet kittens god bless em all... wish em all the best i mean... these ladies got me on the edge of my seat. kinda make me wish i could do a year long vacation hopping around frome event to event .. i mean? mmet crosscountry meet i mean... and those cute as a button track & filed ladies i meant to say
You have to remember 400m and 800m are not really distance races, other schools have legit sprinters running the 400m NC State isn't really a sprinting school.
At 6:20 the leaders took the baton for the final leg...but Katelyn didn't get it until about ELEVEN seconds later at 6:31. That's just TOO BIG of a gap to overcome! (but very valiant effort, for sure!)
