I’m literally in the middle of rewatching SOA while simultaneously watching Theo Rossi and Kim Coates’ podcast Reaper Reviews! I can’t believe you interview these two!! So awesome. Great actors! Thank you.
Katey is THEE Tv Mom! I honestly can’t think of a time where she wasn’t in my life while watching tv and old enough to really remember. She’s been a mom on so many shows throughout the years, a truly remarkable tv career
I`d never had much of a relationship with my mom as far as her been interested in things I was passionate about...in 2016 her health took a turn for the worse and I left South Africa and moved back to the UK (after 30 years away from the place) to keep an eye on her, one night we were at a loss of what to watch and I suggested we watch SOA, she was hesitant at first because it`s about a biker gang, but she agreed and after watching 4 episodes she lit up like nothing i`d ever seen before...we proceeded to spend the next few weeks watching the entire 7 seasons...when it was done she wanted to watch it again... That Christmas I bought her the box set with all 7 seasons, she still regularly watches it and still raves about how good it is... THE best series ever put to paper and to film...PERIOD!!! And, it helped my mom understand me a little better...which has been a small victory in a long, drama filled epic battle all of its own...
Great get Rosey (and Inside of you staff!)! Awesome interview. Katey is an amazing woman whose work I've enjoyed for many many years. And Kurt is a brilliant writer whose work has gone on to inform a lot of current day standard where it comes to writing complex multi-dimensional often deeply flawed and sympathetic characters. I mean, anyone who can write a character like Tig Traeger and turn him from an unrepentant asshole to one of the best characters on the show....that takes some real talent. As a writer myself, I really appreciate his process and sensibilities.
These two are great, I have enjoyed both of their work for years and they lived up to the hype. Seem like two normal people enjoying life. Would love to see more of them.
Don’t know Katey and Kurt but look forward to exploring their work, this was a really interesting interview and I liked how Katey wasn’t afraid to show how much she loves Kurt. Thank you for another fantastic episode🤩
Sons of Anarchy is a really good fucking show, albeit technically considered a "soap opera" with the loads of drama it has. it's inspired by Hamlet as well.
I know Katey from Married With Children and loved the show. I refused to watch her in any other show because I didn’t want to lose Peg even one bit. Selfish I know but it was my absolute favourite, guilty pleasure… I have seen Ed in stuff but it was forgettable and so it didn’t matter. Katey was the best one on the show. I love Inside Of You, love this episode! Kurt & Katey are awesome! Fantastic!!! Thanks for this episode guys!!! (3x🌹)
I totally understand where you are coming from but I have to suggest something and I’m sure you’ve heard before. Sons of Anarchy is absolutely brilliant- a huge reason is because of the casting. Katey is simply unbelievable in the show. How she is not a Meryl Streep level movie star is beyond me. I promise you won’t be disappointed. It’s an other-worldly level of talent in her portrayal. Kurt’s writing is equally incredible. Hard to believe this much talent under one roof. Peg Bundy is a legend.. Gemma Teller is right up there with her. :)
Awesome interview, honestly, an hour was hardly long enough! Lovely couple with lotsa love and wisdom! Hope you get them both on again in the near future!
Such a powerful interview and couple. Congratulations on their sobriety. I enjoyed hearing their take on podcasts. Both have had great careers. Best podcast ever!! I definitely will give their podcast a listening.
Love Katey in 1999 God's New Plan she played a very heart warming and emotional role, that movie has always stuck with me. Loved her in married with children, Katey has always been one of my favorites. This was another awesome Episode on your podcast Michael,Thanks for bringing Katey and Kurt onto the pod, you Rock Michael!
SOA was great. Opie dying still was so sad. I rhink i was like 3 seasons in before i learned katey and kurt were married. Awesome. And katey, she looks better now than when she was gemma teller. Kudos!!!
OMG. They are fantastic couple. It's great to hear your stories. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for so much entertainment. Tks Michael and Inside Of You.
I just finished listening to this episode and I learned so much about them. They definitely opened up. They are both very talented. I enjoyed their take on podcasts. Yours is one of the best. I definitely will have to give their podcast a listen. Best podcast ever!! I am glad that they both are sober. Powerful episode.
What a great interview. Would love to see them again. I would love to hear them reflect upon the time Kurt was going to direct The Punisher 2 with Thomas Jane.
Loved this one! I’ve always been a fan of these two, there is just something about them that is captivating. And I love how you seemed to really ‘get’ them. Fantastic. I have to admit, I don’t usually watch these as soon as they are posted, but this one I clicked on immediately.
DUDE! You have the BEST guests!!! LOVE your channel and content! TY for all the great conversations and insights into our generation's best actors and hollywood industry peoples. (and no, im not a robot lol. genuinely love the nostalgia this channel brings =P)
Katey is absolutely incredible I love her as a person an actress, not only was she epic in SOA but her son Jackson has a series Tell me Lies on Hulu and Katey plays his mother in the show as well and she just gives a performance that is just unbelievable! ❤
I loved the respect they had for Michale’s opinions. That Katey considered them on the same level. Not that he isn’t as talented or hard working, but he isn’t quite as famous and hasn’t been working quite as long as her. Obviously two thoughtful, down to earth, hard working people.
Big fan of your show (one of the best) and also SoA. Thanks for having Katey and Kurt and have now checked out their podcast too. Very generous of you 🤟. PS: I'm sure Katey fans know this, but her dad Boris was born in Ukraine and was the one the all-time great Hollywood TV directors
Besides the family dynamism I think the reason why SoA strikes so many people is that it respects the audience enough to use terms like nomad, patch etc without directly explaining them and secondly the depth of writing for every character. Especially Venus and her character arc which starts as comedic but spans the whole gamut of emotions.
I don’t know Katey and Kurt, amazing discussion and guests, it’s thanks to Inside that i broaden my horizon of new and interesting discoveries !♥️♥️ 🙌🙌 Michael and Ryan 💙💖
45:09 I think SOA did follow the Sopranos formula in a lot of ways with how it was more than just stereotypical biker stuff, strong family element and similar characters, plus to an extent i think the clay/jax relationship mirrors tony/junior
So excited to listen to this episode while at work this morning. Absolutely adore Katey, Kurt and SOA. So getting to hear stories and background information on the show and their relationship made me so happy. Rosenbaum keep these great episodes coming. I look forward to Tuesday for new content from the podcast. ❤❤
I could listen to them all day.I wonder if he will open up more about his ego almost ending his marriage or was that depression, both. We could learn a lot from them. Much love ❤
Katey and Kurt are awesome! They are both extremely talented and seem like such down to earth, kind and fun loving humans! I loved this interview so much!! ❤ This is definitely one of my favorite podcasts!! Thanks Michael! 💕👌
My husband's favorite show was Married W/ Children back when it was on. Me I liked watching SOA - not into bikes/motorcycles at all but interested in the politics and dynamics of their world, having in-laws and husband sons, and others into motorcycles, and/ or in clubs, but identified with the role of Tara which drew most of us normal people into the story. The story just drew you in from the beginning, because it humanized them as a family and brotherhood, and I was someone who was hoping we would get a POV from the Mayans, and we eventually did. She looks similar and is the same age as my mom. They seem like a truly warm and great Hollywood couple.
Sons of Anarchy yes!!!. It's the modern Shakespeare's Hamlet with a backdrop of biker gangs. I hope she talks about the fond memories she had when she starred with John Ritter in 8 Simple Rules to date my teenage daughters.
This was a great interview. Her sisters, twins Liz and Jean from the 80s sitcom Double Trouble, were also in Grease 2. Liz was also in Flashdance as one of the dancers. #ILovethe80s
@greeniejoey - I actually do this for myself when rewatching. Any comment you make remains at the top by default. So it's a lot easier just to have access to timestamps you can click on directly vs going back and forth in the description.
@@ryandeffley7652completely understandable! I thought it was for the benefit of everyone. I like the chapters they break it up into so it's easier for me to go back to the segment.
Wow, Club Lingerie and Madame Wong's! I haven't heard those names in a while. I've always been an introvert and NOT the type of person who likes to go to clubs, and yet I would always go out to see my sister play in the various bands she was in over the years. So I got to spend some time in those classic L.A. venues -- some of which are no longer here (like the aforementioned), and others that may be here forever (like the Roxy and the Whiskey). I wonder if I ever crossed paths with Katey unknowingly...
I absolutely love both of them dearly, Some of my best memories with my dad are watching Married with Children, Futurama, and SOA with him. So thank you for having them both on
My dad didn't want to watch SOA because he has a thing about glorifying crime and stuff. He thought the show was glorifying the outlaw biker life. I had to make him sit down and watch the first episode (the show had been on for 3 or 4 seasons at that point). He was instantly hooked. I torrented all of the episodes for him to catch up. When the series box set came out, I bought it for him and he watches the series 2-3x a year. He loves it.
SOA has the only scene that made me genuinely tear up and cry as a grown ass man, S2 Ep 10, when Gemma tells Jax & Clay that she has been raped. Such an amazing build up / delivery.
Katey is so soothing her voice is very distinct I never saw soa but love Futurama married with children and the conners Lila's relationship with fry always made me cry because it was so beautifully done the way they casted the actors to those characters was amazing and the way she played peg Bundy was hysterical she walked around so funny and put her cigarettes in with a hamburger meat to make sloppy joes I mean you knew it was going to be an off-the-wall off the cuff kind of show not to mention she got lucky to have Christina Applegate as her daughter I mean what a sidekick
my gf and I are rewatching SOA and just a day ago I was wondering what happened to that dude from Poolhall Junkies and Midnight in the Garden. Serendipity brought me here, and happy met.
I love her she is so good "FUTURAMA" I saw her Colombo series too thank you Michael for another great actress It was very interesting to listen to their story and as always your guests are very welcoming and friendly as human beings, not only do we see it through a screen but you give that opportunity to get to know them inside, thank you again for your excellent program 👋 🇬🇧 x
1)My dad taught grade school and the kids LOVED him yet he treated my sibling and I like crap. 2)Married with Children will always be one of my favorites.
When I pulled up to the SOA season 5 premiere after party, they were the first people to leave. Literally walking past me in the parking lot of Gladstones, Malibu, as I was walking in the party. Presumably b/c they exercise their sobriety by not sticking around those settings. Everyone else was getting lit though! I bumped into the dad from The Wonder Years, and he was in straight-up party mode! Ron Perlman was there w/ his family, David Labrava was smoking tons of weed w/ a squadron of Hells Angels, and Charming Charlie was always surrounded by his admirers. Legendary Party! Too bad Katy & Hurt couldn't stick around...
Adorable couple but the way Kurt sits with his legs crossed away and Katie has her's crossed towards Kurt and the fact Kurt is leaning away the whole interview and does not once acknowledge when Katie touches him shows me all is not as rosy as it seems
One of your best shows yet Michael! I never watched the Shield or SOA But they're such a lovely couple Katy just wanted to say how much I love The Conners Everyone is great on that show Michael BTW I've been revisiting Justice League cartoons You're awesome asThe Flash
