Kathmandu Nijgadh Fast Track A major highway project with strategic importance is the Kathmandu-Terai/Madhesh Freeway, which is regarded as the "infrastructure of national pride."
The 72.5 km long Fast Track follows the Bagmati River corridor and is anticipated to reduce travel time from the nation's capital Kathmandu to the south by 159 km in comparison to current highways.
The Nepal Army (NA), which has been given the task of building the express highway, has only finished one-fifth of the work in the past six years, according to the Development and Technology Committee of the House of Representatives (HoR).
November 2024 has been selected as the completion date for the national pride project.
The NA has not yet called for bids for five of the work segment's 11 clusters.
China State Engineering and Poly Chhangda Engineering Company Limited have been given the contracts for the 10-km-long tunnel segments under packages 1 and 2, respectively.
