He wasn't gobsmacked he knew it was her he went to meet her and helped her disappear in the first place, the audience definitely was, it's not often that shows get away with this sort of thing without spoilers
I don't think she let her, I just think she got overpowered. I think Kathy is tougher then most would believe, she's just too nice for her own good and takes too much stuff from people. I reckon she'd have had Rainie for the record. Granted do I think she'd beat Sharon this easily? Hell no, but I do think edge her in a fight. There's no real excuse for Sharon losing here. Sharon has been hit and not retaliated before like against Karen, but she was literally struggling against Kathy in this scene.
@@Darskul Kathy is definitely tougher than she looks but I doubt she would’ve stood a chance if Sharon was ready. Sharon is one of the strongest females the square has ever had, I’d go as far to say she had man strength.
Kathy might be older but is obviously slimmer and fitter than Sharon at the time. Not having a dig at Sharon or her weight, just pointing out the facts.
@@Guitar-qv6guyep she returned to screens in February for the 30th anniversary but she didn’t return to the square until later that year. I just noticed EastEnders fixed the mistake.
Gillian Taylforth needs to give soap acting lessons. She's an extremely generous and natural performer, even when she has to go OTT. Her subtle reactions to every line of dialogue thrown at her are what acting's all about.👌
Kathy doesn't have any purpose left in the show since the writers proabbly don't give a toss about her and Rocky have 0 personality plus Sharon is such a hypocrite at times and always making out like she's something special and like she's god gift or something!!
Kathy does have purpose, she is a very strong character, has two children who are both big characters on the show and a whole backstory pre-Pete that’s never been properly explored. Problem is the writers seemed to forget all about that when she returned, and even at some moments during her original stint, in the 90s in particular, she was written as an a lot weaker character than she actually is! Gillian Taylforth can give incredible performances when given the material but unfortunately she isn’t. Real shame.
This is not the Sharon I remember from pre 2006. This feels like a ridiculous caricature of Sharon dialled up to a ridiculous level of toughness, never seen beforehand. It all feels very Hollywood! But, I stopped watching in 2010. Perhaps, this is what passes for realistic, nowadays? But, regardless of the absurd overblown spectacle, I can understand how annoyed Sharon might be towards Kathy in this situation! But only because the story writers took it there to begin with. I’ve just been watching the 2006 episodes when her death was announced. The episode before her death was announced was all about Ian filming a bunch of people on his camcorder who didn’t want to be filmed. And then, Jane came to Ian and told him Kathy was dead. The bottom line is , you’d have to be extremely fucking stupid to mindlessly take this on board without question.
her age has actually been changed over the years so her original birth year of 1952 would’ve meant she’d have been 16 when he was born but it’s been changed to 1950 now so 18!
