Her voice is smooth and supple as silk. One of the great voices in country music in the latter part of the 20th Century. This is one of the most beautiful songs of its time, and still today.
Kathy Mattea is one of those rare artists (in ANY music genre) who can sing onstage as well--or even better-- than in the recording studio. Kathy really CAN sing and play!
My favorite Kathy Mattea song is 455 Rocket. It's been on my favorite list forever and I play it often. What can I say...great entertainer...great lady!
It was my honor to deliver this great black Guild GF-60M guitar to Kathy in Chattanooga, TN in 1987. I was President & co-owner of Guild at the time, and she was one of our best endorsees. She is truly a GREAT person as well as incredible talent!
What a gorgeous voice, deserved to be a major star...another woman like Suzy Bogguss that never got country fans to give her the status she had coming, with all that talent and personality !
Actually......she did. Kathy Mattea put out many, many, beautiful songs that those who followed her completely enjoyed....IF you followed the country charts :)
I agree with you, Dan. Lori and Renee are correct, but Kathy never rose to the level of Reba or Dolly or Shania, which she should have. Yes she was great in the late 80s and early 90s, what what song of hers has charted this Century? Same with Suzy Bogguss, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Patty Loveless, and Pam Tillis?
@@Woody615 The 80s and 90s were just a hotbed of immensely talented female artists. Kathy, Mary Chapin-Carpenter, Suzy Boggus, and even some more obscure talents like Lisa Stewart (just watch her video for Drive Time. Gives me goosebumps), Joy Lynn White, and Ronna Reeves, not to mention Reba, Tanya Tucker, Dolly and Shania: All left an impression on Nashville, and you'll never see country music THAT good again.
I've listened to songs for over 30 years, it got me through a lot of heartbreaks, the loss of my three year old and two relationships! I love her songs!
Mr Bowlin shreds that guitar intro! My, he looks like a kid there. I took a whole bunch of pictures of them at a festival in Prague in 1988, and never had the chance to give him the double prints.
Hi!? ,I saw &recognized Ms.Matea long, long ago herband&she had stopped at the Mall's Resturant/bar for some kind of celebration so I didn't interupt their meal I was just Surprised to see them!?I Still carry a Deep"Crush for Herand huge Respect for the Band.
I love Kathy's singing...she has such a strong singing voice & her back up vocalists do a great job also. One of the regrets I have in my life is that I never was able to see her live in concert. God Bless, Jeff :)
I have always Enjoyed Kathy's Music since she first came out, I bet she is a great person, she isnt hardcore country but there is something about her Voice and Style that are very soothing
