Neither Boulter or Emma look like causing a problem for the top ten in the world. Emma can up her game as she sometimes shows, but their level remains Nottingham, scrapping for the minor trophies, and not at Wimbledon, as we shall soon find out.

Difference between the two players today was that Boulter was more incisive - going for winners. Radacanu seemed too ready to simply get the ball back into court more often than not and that gave Boulter the chance of strike……

It was a different Raducanu who turned up to complete the match today compared to set one on Saturday evening, and it's a shame these highlights don't capture the brilliance of that first set. There was barely a hair's breadth between them who would win, but in the tiebreak Raducanu started to show signs of edging ahead. As each came to a set point only to be hauled back by their opponent, it was Boulter who found herself in the position of being about to lose the set the most times, with Raducanu having 6 set points to Boulter's 3. It was a great match up to that point, but unfortunately the court was becoming damp and too dangerous to play on. Sunday's contest was comparatively flat from both players, but well done to Katy Boulter for getting through and defending her title.

the actual reality is twofold. rank 276, 127 and 245 (walkover) to get to a semi is a draw so unbelievably weak you'd be lucky to get it in an ITF level tournament (2 levels below the WTA) and will never happen again at WTA level. I stayed up late to watch this live. Both players did a good job. Emma got some great passing shots by Boulter, but Katie just played more aggressively and seemed to have more power to her shots. You could feel a shift in Katie's favor midway in the second set when she started sending back those rocket returns on Emma's second serve. Unfortunately, Emma could not do the same on Katie's second serves. Emma lacks a certain power in her playing; it looks like she's getting pushed around sometimes. Imagine what someone like Osaka or Swiatek would do to her 🙄

What we could say about this match suits most women's matches: IF a player (Boulter) didn't miss that much, that would be an easy win for this one, Raducanu absolutely inoffensive, only hitting in the middle and Boulter kept on giving the double of unforced errors.

When Emma actually managed to get to the net, her volleys were sent straight to Boulter's racket, even when she had an open court to aim at. She is adapting her serve but she's not going to win many matches unless the first serve gets in. The second serve is so weak it gets hammered back easily .. The look on Emma's coach near the end said it all and Emma no longer seems upset when she loses, it's almost as if she expects it, and that is really the state of play with her at the moment. I still think she can pull it around and re-set her game, but the absence of permanent coach and her 'go it alone' mentality looks self defeating when the results don't improve.

Great Tennis from Katie, her serve has improved a lot in such a short period of time and her forehand is so strong. She’ll be heading for the top 10 soon if she keeps progressing like this - she loves the grass so she could cause a few upsets at Wimby if she keeps this form up. Emma did well here too, she kept fighting, her balance is exceptional and her serve is slowly improving - it’s only the bitter, insecure people on social media that are so hard on her. Emma always brain farts at the net hitting right back to the opponent instead of the open court. She needs to fix this ASAP if she wants to win more tight matches. Also those half-hearted drop shots just won't cut it, either commit fully to it with a deep slice or don't do it.
