One of the things Trump has done to the Republican party was to break them of their protection and glorify fair trade deals. Trump has made Republicans protectionists and is one of the reasons why the Chamber of Commerce and Conservative Elites do not like Trump. Ever since Clinton, the Democrats have been moving further away from Unions and protectionists and more towards the Oligarchs of Wall Street, Big Pharma, and Silicon Valley. Trump recognized no one was representing the middle class and moved to do so by making pro-nationalist moves to bring back manufacturing. While the Left labels Trump a Nationalist because of these America First policies, they know they have to demonize this move or they risk losing Unions, and middle-class America.

PS I know that China is a major issue for us working class people but honestly an open border where you’re flooding millions of people into a market that’s already over saturated or can’t sustain decent wages for us to live does not help neither

I agree however they manufacture billions of dollars of products for us, and bringing those jobs home would be impossible unless everyone wants to pay 30-45 percent more for their phones, televisions, cars, toys etc. What we can do is charge more in import tariffs which would contribute in the billions to our economy...however the Chinese will just raise the manufacturing costs to compensate for that. Everything is about margins. This is really tough since the genie is out of the bottle. That said, any intellectual property violations and other legal violations should be penalized big time, however the Chinese actually don't give a rip about that. What can be done immediately is ensuring no computer chips or AI technology is outsourced to them which is happening right now though our chip act. In the medium term when trump gets in the white House he can sort though the very difficult tight rope of export import tariffs etc.

Only China and Israel have worse track records than the United States.
