The Metra train line runs from Union Station in Chicago to Fox Lake suburbs. Fox Lake has a train yard where some trains are parked overnight. I see the train everyday and have boarded the train to the Chicago museums. Kato made a wonderful miniature replica of the Metra locomotive and cars. It is exactly as the real thing.

Anyway, making models from metal, like zinc-tin-alloys or sheet-aluminium has very distinct downsides, but for a steam locomotive, it makes for a gorgeous model! It is more expensive, and sheet metal is most difficult to work with, compared to plastic or even injection molded tin-alloys. With metal, you end up with a 300 dollar locomotive, instead of an 80 dollar model, and sheet metal dents and gets out of shape easily with just tiny bumps. For model cars, making the body from metal also makes them too heavy for actual running operation, and I think too many people forget the most important part of model railroading: these are toys, and they are for running and playing with them Oh, just FYI: that one car with the stripes is a control-cab car, so the train can get pushed backwards, and the engineer then sits in the cab-car and operates the locomotive remotely. That way, there is no need to shunt the loco to the other end for the return trip, when you reach the last station! Try it out
haha, good to know. But I do have a few Life-Like engines that are made of medal and of good quality, in fact you can get them for like $20-$40. Still, I think it would be nice to see some Al You Maniam ones, would be a great way to break out from the crowd 😉

Yes, Metra is separate from Amtrak, but it’s not unique. Many larger cities in the USA have similar commuter trains. The “backwards” flag is correct. According to US flag code the blue field should be displayed to the left, which means it would appear to be backwards on one side when applied to a locomotive.
Also- I would recommend adding the light kits to the cars, they look really good! That end car becomes the cab when the train reaches the end of its run. The engineer (or driver) simply moves from the locomotive to the “cab car” and controls the train from there with the engine pushing.
Having pursued my higher education in the "great state" of Chick-a-go-go, before I even begin watching your video, I have actually been considering picking up this kit myself.
