You like Huey Lewis and the News ? Their early work was a little too new wave for my taste. But when Sports came out in '83, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism... that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor. In '87, Huey released this -- Fore, their most accomplished album. I think their undisputed masterpiece is "Hip To Be Square." The song's so catchy, most people probably don't listen to the lyrics. But they should, because it's not just about the pleasures of conformity and the importance of trends. It's also a personal statement about the band itself.
Wonderful. I'm 92. I stopped taking care of myself a long time ago. My diet is balanced by cigarettes and booze. The only exercise I get is walking across the road to the pub.
Belinda Carlisle Heaven on Earth Van Halen Jump, Twisted Sister We’re Not Going To Take It Michael Jackson Thriller Whitney Houston I Wanna Dance With Somebody All of Tina Turner’s songs in the 80’s even before that
I agree. There are many songs from the 80s that once you hear it, it brings you back to the time that song was a hit and the emotions you felt on a particular day. Be it sad, happy etc. Hearing many 80s songs brings me back to my teenage years in Africa. Some songs are of sad memories some of happy memories.
I was walking into a store the other day and I heard this song. The manager told me who it was. So, here I am. I am 73 and I like this song. It is a feel good song. Brings up my spirits at a gloomy time. Thank you Katrina and the Waves
@@jflack6 why yes. And we know how to walk and chew gum at the same time while participating in Podcasts and lectures...We are quite a weird group of old folks but we do the best we can..smile.
@@Mr.EmeraldTheGreen They make you believe that you're still sick, is what they do and fill the coffers of pharmaceutical companies. Get off the drugs and start getting well. It could take 18-24 months but their is an end to it and it's within yourself.
Six years old, head banging to this song while driving to the beach with my mom in her orange Mustang on a Saturday morning. This will be a memory I will have until the day I die.
Me, but with my solar boat team, sitting on the dock, looking at the other boats, making smalltalk with the competition or doing horrible karaoke in the tent... Good times
the simple things are what mean the most to us the people that loved us and we loved them for it even if you get alsimas depp down you mever forget them
thats just me after a full day not eating any human flesh (I am fine because I am a normal individual who doesn't have sever mental health problems which make me wish to devour the skin of everyone I see)
the only thing that scares me is the way she is jumping around in that empty building, she is ... how do i say this ... too over weight to be dancing like that in an abandoned structure, she will collapse the whole building! tub of lard
I love the irony of the video showing a foggy overcast London while she's singing about walking on sunshine. Their point is sunshine is just a state of mine. It could be raining and gloomy but if you're happy inside you're walking on sunshine.
Before you go along with the thousands of people who say that that is sunshine is the UK , the point of the music video is that its sunny everyday if you enjoy it.
Agreed. This is a great song for someone dealing with depression. It goes well with this psychologist's advice: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Ow0lr63y4Mw.html
I love seeing comments about American Psycho whenever I watch an upload that has any reference to the movie. As disturbing as the movie is, it's good to be a part of a club when only those in the know, know what you're referring to.
@@AfricaRecapped when Patrick, the 'American Psycho' Bateman hears this song, he finally resolves to become a dastardly killer and murders his rival Paul Allen.
this song has always given me a lift up. This is from the days when you did not need flashing lights, dancers and a special machine backing you up to preform a good song.
+Teesside Nihilist I guess you have the line from watchmojo (and seen the movie ofc) but I have the feeling that watchmojo says it incorrect, because if I remember right nothing in the movie hints that he was killing the night before listening that track.
im usually a 50,60s.70s, music fan.. but this has to be the most uplifting song for the last 50 years..everything about it is good ..the backing is awesome.. and the voice just suits the song.. wow wow and wow
Merlin sorry but i didn’t bother to read all those paragraphs especially after i noticed how incoherent it was. It was getting creepy and weird. It’s pretty obvious you got triggered
@@engideergaming I don't doubt that you are not "dumb"-probably can SPEAK just fine, but I'm not that impressed by your SEEMING attempts to "impress" others with your supposed erudtion. Jeez, it's just RU-vid; not the London Times or whatever. Be well
This is one of my all-time favorite songs and it is one of the happiest songs anyone will ever hear! I truly feel sorry for ANYBODY that dislikes/hates this song!
Fell in love with this upbeat tune in 1985, bought the cassette in a Husky gas station the same night I split with my wife forever, this made me feel like living again, great song I still listen to it near 40 years later, it is on my playlist.
This song is medicine. Fantastically uplifting. Even if you already feel incredibly amazing, listening to this song will take you even higher. It literally shifts the chemical composition in your body, infusing it with dopamine - the happy hormone! 😄❤️
Ironically, the UK - the least sunny place of all has the most songs about sun/sunshine! This, The Beatles - "Here Comes the Sun", etc. Even in the video there is no sunshine whatsoever lol, maybe that's the whole point ;)
They barely have sun in the UK, therefore they kind of "aspire" to have the sun. Like singers whose relatives or friends have passed away, and now they sing about them. Also... I think there's a bit deeper point there. For me, it looks like the message is that you don't have to be sad just because the world is (or looks like it). You can produce your own happiness in life, without being dependent on others and the world itself. TL,DR: Stay positive! :)
@Donny Tate Before this song came out I remember feeling uplifted every Friday. It was when 'flexy time' was around & I would make sure I would have enough up my sleeve to knock off early, walk into the city (about 3/4 hour) & wait until 5PM when my girlfriend would knock off. Her work colleagues would say 'I knew it must be Friday because Kerry has had a smile on her face all day'. That was nearly 40 years ago and we have been married for over 35.
This is the ULTIMATE FEEL GOOD song !!!! Someone said yes to a date , someone got a new friend , someone won the lottery, someone got a new job . EVERYONE can relate to the PURE joy this brings
@Leah McCarthy 0:00 A warm welcome with all you listeners who've just tuned in. You're listening to the sizzlin' sounds of LEGO City Radio and let me tell you that the forecast for today is hot. Hot. HOT!

One of the all time greatest 'hooks' in pop song history, if not the best! "I'm walkin' on sunshine yeah, yeah" .. 'I'm walkin' on sunshine yeah, yeah and don't it feel good!" You go Katrina and the Waves!
The band won Eurovision in 1997 with "Love Shine a Light", but broke up around 2000. Katrina Leskanich works as a solo act these days, primarily in Europe.
Actually, the act had broken up by 2005. Katrina Leskanich still performs solo as part of several 80's package tours. The group's last hurrah was the Eurovision-winning "Love Shine a Light" in 1997.
My favorite song back in my teens, and it still makes me drop everything and grin like a fool and dance when I hear it or even think about it!!!! Because back then we didnt have texts or email. We waited for a letter because long distance calls were so expensive.
Met her as she was sitting on a big wooden tour box after opening for Don Henley in Indy. We sat and talked with her for a while and she was one of the nicest performers I ever met.
