Katrina's agility is one of the most consistent in this generation. whenever she sings i dont get worried a lot since she knows her capability and limitations.
Katrina is incredible. I love her solid, clear, and unstaggering vocals. She is a phenomenon to me. Just recently she released "All By Myself" mv. You need to see that as well. Her high notes are preposterously unbelievable. Her, Sarah Geronimo, and KZ. Those are the top Filipino singers to me. Then you can bring in Kyla when you want more soul/R&B. Sarah Geronimo can sing any genres she wants, and KZ can sing any genre and make any sounds in the world that she wants with her voice. katrina is the most consistent vocalist i can think of; she knows her instrument, its limitations, strengths, etc., so very well that combined with her outstanding mic technique, she is easily the best live performer currently. & yes, we can credit the band...esp if you roll the credits on nearly all of katrina's videos. she's pretty good about having incredibly detailed & thoughtful ones. :)
I'd say both mori and Kat are neck and neck in vocal ability only that mori is more popular in the philippines while Katrina remains underrated in a sense that she's about to get up there but having this highly lethal caliber it didn't do her justice which is so long overdue but there's this growing clamor for a collab between them. Shortly after this video, Katrina dropped another MV cover of All By Myself. This will blow you away even more on how long she sustained her vocal control on the high register with crazy runs.
Jona Viray recently dueted with Katrina on ASAP--there are audio and video-disguised versions on RU-vid. I think it was a rare appearance for Katrina on ABS-CBN. Jona used to do high note exchanges with Morisette in concert. For me it's not all about the high notes or very high quick runs, which often get out of control and are shrill, it's how the song is presented as whole to tell the story and bring out the emotion. Jona does that with tone and dynamics. She's the only singer currently that often gives me chills.
Kat's and Mori's agility is crazy incomparable even with one another, hence their name titles 'Vocal Supreme' and 'Phoenix'. Hope you get to React to Kat's 'All by myself' cover. Morissette lower range is just to die for… powerful and very captivating and one of best when it comes to song delivery… passion and unlimited range…her growling is soothing ..switching from head voice to mix to chest …undeniably beautiful … no one can really beat her voice… Katrina can sing the phone book…I can listen to her all year…. Her rants. Breathe Control and mix voice top notch… the only person who can match her voice is Morissette but she can’t beat Katrina’s voice… If they do a challenge together and non stop singing…. Katrina will win because Morissette voice has so much emotional and she literally engaged in her voice with the song ..that’d tiring lol
Katrina to me has more stamina and agility. I also find she has more versatility in terms of her music, though Morrissette is very versatile too. Katrina has a wealth of things she can do with her voices, as you know she can mimic other singers. There’s so much more that she can do that I’m sure she hasn’t even shown as yet. Faouzia and Katrina the best singers to me. You keep mentioning Loren Allred, but she’s not in the same generation as these women you’re talking about. She’s like 34 years old.
Yea I know, when I mention "This generation" I'm speaking about when they gained popularity or are just known to a degree, not necessarily age. For example, 10 years ago Loren didn't have any name recognition and probably wasn't even in the industry. That's why I consider her this generation.
Well, Stan, we might disagree on the level of AGILITY of Morissette, but we dont disagree here, Its funny because i got into a pretty deep back and forth with another Mori Fan (so called) and he said that when I said Kat was probably the most Agile Vocalist out there, He laughed and said Arianna was more agile than both Kat and Morissette, as you say that is simply Ridiculous! FACT, Kat would sing Arianna under the table, any night of the week.(nothing personally against her). just know the difference, as you do. Since it would be biased and unfair, I would never say Morissette is a "better" singer/Vocalist than Kat, that is completely subjective (in this comparison) as to what the listener prefers, My ear goes to Mori, But toe to toe?, Mmmm..its a knock down drag out fight between those two. But Agility? with runs alone? I would say Kat has an edge, But on the right song, in the right time, Mori is as good if not better. No reason to pick and choose lets just be glad they are both here on Earth while we are and simply Marvel at the sounds and entertainment they both bring to the table in ever so slightly different ways!, I.E. Tone, Resonance, Melisma and Stamina and Control.
