Katy has one of the most unique voices in pop music: it sounds pretty deep and dark but it still sounds feminine and pretty high placed. Her mid belts are definitely her strongest area since they sound very rich and full. I would say she supports up to a B4/C5. Also her C#5 and D5's are pretty nice as well, they often have nice placement. Her head voice is also very nice since she has a distinctive tone to it. Even her low notes are not that bad, but definitely her weaker part of her range. Overall decent to pretty good singer with a lot of potential :)
I think that Katy's basically an alto that sings a bunch of high notes like a soprano. She's about the only female pop singer that I confider's singing voice to be deep. I appreciate that because it's different from a lot of the other chicks that sings that genre.
She's not so much of a consistent vocalist but she always offers something different in her vocals (even also in the creative directions in her performances besides the vocals), whether that's on key changes that involves high notes or vocal effects
Katy's a master of falsetto/head voice, it's her signatures in her music, she keeps flipping from chest to head voice et it sounds so good.I actually think that her falsettos are the best part of her voice, she can let it out smooth and airy or add power to it, and she can sing in head voice for really long (like in her song Birthday, the whole chorus is in falsetto)Her little voice flip at the end of her word are really good and unique too, and she can use those voice flip/crack during high belt like in never really over . And her high belt and vibrato improved a lot on every era , especially since witness. I went to her Vegas residancy Play and her vocals were absolutely beautiful and powerful. She's a really underrated vocalist. Can't wait for KP6, Katycat forever ❤❤❤
Her mid belts are great, she really worked her ass off to develop such good mid belts. I think she could work on her upper register because there is some potential for sure. And for her agility and low notes, there is also room for improvement, she won´t become some crazy riffer but she definitely could develop a consistent decent agility with time and her low notes also could become more consistent. What´s Katy´s supported range: G♯3 - C5/C♯5? And consistent A3 - B4?
great video!! i love katys tone and my favorite part of her voice is the mid belts. do you listen to florence and the machine? i would love a video about florence welch
one thing i’d like to note that not a lot of people mention is that katy perry is a master and i mean a MASTER at pop adlibs, she has a good sense of harmony and a good sense of her vocal and tonal placements as well, which is why she can effortlessly harmonize with herself the recipe of adlibbing in pop music right now is lost, which is why pop music sounds boring right now, artists are getting lazy
@@XMilesX123 ariana borders on RnB / soul, ariana is mariah / brandy / keyshia cole / beyoncé level, they're practically on a league of their own i'm talking pure radio pop, think katy's contemporaries around her peak (TD / PRISM) i.e. rihanna / gaga / kesha or even compare her to the zeitgeist of today like dua lipa / sabrina carpenter - they pale in comparison if you really pay attention one girl i'll give flowers to-, that's really revived pop adlibbing, -is chappel roan
@@vincentreinaldosukamto4817 true but I like that better. She tries so many different genres and her r&b is so chill and the adlibs and backing harmonies are beautiful like west side for example. Plus see how people treated positions it was great album that was a big deal of r&b and people ignored it
@@XMilesX123 couldn't agree more ! ariana's ear is out of this world ~ positions is such an underrated ariana project, i still remember the jawdrop i did when THAT part came on in "my hair"
If you listen to her "unplugged" songs, she has such a unique voice with so many layers and the sweetest falsetto. These analyses are pointless for me. She never needed to be a vocal diva because her voice is so original. Maybe because of all the vocal gymnastics she did, she lost some of that tenderness to her voice over the years
