You see, there's so much that goes into the industry. It's not just the singing, it's the star quality, that PRESENCE on stage and the emotional preparedness to live the grueling (yes, grueling. It's not glitz and glam all the time.) life of a A-List celebrity and singer. I am a ballet dancer and this can sort of translate to be the same thing. Not all dancers have the PERFECT BODY and the PERFECT TECHNIQUE. The one's that get the coveted roles are the ones that can make you feel and and you know that love to dance. Same with Katy. She's not Celine Dion but DAMN can she perform and create good songs.
I like Dami's version better. Having original artists perform and seeing the difference really shows how difficult it is to perform at live shows - so kudos to all the x factor contestants!

I understand where your coming from but we are also allowed to express ourselves as well, as we will stick up for our idol because (for older teens like me) sometimes they helped their fans, I do get really defensive over Katy and I know that but it's because she's made a big impact on my life, I know you probably don't care about this but I'm just trying to put it from a fans view, I know Katy has made an impact on thousands of people and that's why when they see the hate Katy gets which some of it is horrifying they gets really angry at people, I'm not trying to change your mind or nothing but just trying to say.
I'm also a fan of hers, have been since Firework in 2010. Used to really dislike her before I watched her interviews, and ever since I watched one of her interviews, I never stopped because she is a really genuine artist with an amazing voice which is a gift from God. Ever since then, her songs have been there to inspire me and also her songs have been the one to get me into the mood to party as well. As a fan of her music and her personality, I understand where you're coming from if you feel defensive when hate gets thrown towards Katy because she really does a lot for her fans and people don't recognise that. However, it is true that in SOME performances she doesn't sound great. But, you can't deny that her voice is powerful and she is very gifted.
I don't like pop music but I think that she's not a bad singer. The problem is that she has a particular voice and, as all the other pop singers, she's just singing the songs that the discography have bought for her. You can listen her singing in acoustic and it sounds better.

Why is her live performance never as good as her records? She must hb a great top notch vocal engineers to fix her vocal up in tje studio. Dont get me wrong I love her and her hits songs but I think a true singers can sing good not just on the recods but also LIVE version.
In the studio, artists use several thousand dollar condensor mics with tons of effects, compression, etc and lots and lots of takes. That's what makes the studio versions sound so good.

Katy has earnt her title Queen of Pop through years of hard work and dedication. She has had 5 song from one album make it to number 1. Roar has been Australia's number one song over 9 weeks, her album Prism is currently #1 on Billboard 200. Queen of Pop my ass? She dam right earnt that title.
I have nothing against Katy but I really think her performances are boring. I'm not comparing the two because they are both very different, but Lady Gaga's performances are so much more exciting and entertaining. I like Katy I just don't like her performances.

I don't understand why everyone is criticizing her, I think she sounds great. Nobody is ever going to sound as good as they are on cd. There are a few parts where she sounds a bit off, but other than that I don't see anything wrong with this performance. I wish people would stop being so critical of performers. I mean, I love to sing, but I wouldn't have the guts to go up on a stage in front of that many people and sing, would you?
