**CORRECTION** The waterfall we kayaked and hiked to at 8:29 is actually called "Secret Falls", NOT Wailua Falls. Thanks to those who have been kind enough to let me know of my mistake. I could only imagine how irked I'd be if someone didn't accurately say the name of a major landmark in my hometown. Lessons learned to pay better attention to detail for future vlogs 😬
Steph Tayler Live Steph, it’s a common mistake visitors make, as Wailua Falls is relatively close by. You made the hike to Secret Falls, whose Hawaiian name is Uluwehi Falls. I’m so glad you made the hike and the paddle up the river. It’s SO worth it. Thank you for your video and safe travels to you!
We are from the Olympic Peninsula and now planning our 3rd stay on Kauai. Waiting for our rental car, a local greeted us with,"Welcome to the rain!" My husband and I answered back, "At least it is a warm rain". Just LOVE that relaxing place. (Too old for hikes). Thank you!
I lived on Oahu and Guam for 11 years or so back in the 90's.... travelled all the islands for my weekend getaways. Going back in Aug for the first time since 1999.... can't wait!!!
Hiked to that first swimming hole in '17. Good boots a must! The surprise for us eastern stateside visitors was the slippery trail mud common on certain days. But worth it! This is an island for visitors who don't mind mud and sweat. Consider the two-four person open door hour-long chopper ride -- worth every penny. Once in a lifetime ride.
I absolutely love to travel (mostly tropical) but this lady is so smooth and comforting and makes you want to travel more. I've seen her video on Maui (which I've been to twice and a 3rd coming in April 2020) and now this one on Kauai (back when I was twelve) and she shows me more than I could imagine in one week. Thanks Steph
I live on KAUAI my whole life and sorry to correct some of the captions. The water fall you listed with the kayak tour up river was not Wailua falls. It’s just and old irrigation ditch overflow from the cane plantation days.. I cut the trail there 25 years ago when my friend started a kayaking tour business on the river.
Kauai is amazing. My family has gone 3 times now. I recommend Waipouli Beach Resort. It’s located in kapaa which makes it the midway point between the north and south of the island. The resort is a little more money than a hotel but the rooms are condos with full kitchens. The extra you spend on the room you get back by cooking meals yourself. Great video!
The beautiful Kauai island, I was just one month ago in Kapaa .i lived two years in Kauai island 20 years ago,but I will back to this island again. I am sailing alone around the world, many pictures and videos on my Facebook page. Many thanks for the video. I wish you all the best. Aloha.
Last night I was told by my parents that we're going to Kauai. I literally cried of happiness! It's so damn beautiful We're staying right next to Napali (the most beautiful place I've ever seen)
Where is the love button?, like doesn't quite compliment this video as much as I wish to...this was a blessing to watch! Thank you very much! Wonderful :-)
I was in Kauai only for a day. All I can remember was on the helicopter and nothing else. Still got the DVD. Great to see there are other things on the island!
Kauai-My FAVORITE Hawaiian Island! So much that I went and bought a Timeshare at the Kauai Marriot on Kalapaki Beach in Lihue! Love all the places you went to in your video! Good Job!!
Thank you for sharing your Kauai adventure. This is how I have experienced my fave Hawaiian Island. Love Duke's and their Hula Pie. Kauai is magnificent. So colorful and lush. You know how to present it, as your video allowed me remember my two trips there. Great work. Amazing footage.
The production value you capture and create is very impressive! You have the talent of ten in a crew of one so congratulations & Thank You for another beautiful piece of work!! Believe In Yourself ~ STL
Thanks, Matthew! I was trained in the news industry as an MMJ (multimedia journalist) which meant that we do it all as a one man band. Happy it's paying off. Thanks for the kind words!
Great tour - I love Kauai. On your next visit, check out the Mai Tai's @ Tahiti Nui in Hanalei (from the movie "The Descendants"), the free tour at Koloa Coffee near Port Allen, Art Night in Hanapepe, and the charm of Koloa Town. Oh, and the free rum tasting at Koloa Rum!
Wow the water falls in Kauai are way better than those in Maui. I just took the helio ride from Kapalua airport to Molikai. The best part was seeing the Humpbacks from 100' in the air.
One of the most best island in the world.i am sailing alone around the world,my sailing pictures and videos on my Facebook page.i wish you all the best.aloha.
I'll be honest, one of the appeals to this is the host's utter beauty. I thought "I'll watch the first minute or so." 17 min's later... Woman is so full and filled with beauty, I was utterly captivated. Great job capturing the footage of the island, too!
Just loved everything about this place and your video of it! I love that you go off the beaten track and show so much nature, especially on this island which is known for it, the scenes from the helicopter ride were mind blowing! Also love all the personal bits and both the highs and lows of everything. The chickens/roosters were a great touch as well! Congrats on what may be my favorite one you have done so far...but really, it would be hard to choose!
Nice to return with you to Kaua’i. My parents lived at Koloa, near Poipu Beach (which incidentally is pronounced Poy-poo, not Po-ee-poo) during the 1970s. Body surfing at Poipu, hiking the Nepali, exploring Waimea Canyon. Fond memories for me. I returned for a month in 1982, lived near Hanalei and performed at the pavilion with an amazing group of local musicians. The end of the road (where the trail takes off for the Nepali) is my favourite area, especially the hidden valley once reserved for the Ali’i. Poor little princess in paradise. Thanks for the tour.
Your travel videos are a wonderful diversion from a boring week. This one is funny and inspiring! Thanks. I completely forgot about the free range chicken while I was there. 🤣
Kaua'i is my favorite get away island, from the busy island of O'ahu. Ohana is from Lihue area. lots of chickens loose on O'ahu as well, lol. My favorite places to eat there are JJ's Broiler and Gaylords at Kilohana.
I'm sad watching your vid coz I just got back from Oahu and Maui just a few days ago so I know my next Hawaii won't be for a long time. Wow, Kuawai island is breathtaking and your video sure brings out the best of it. I enjoyed watching it very much! I will definitely include visiting this beautiful island on our next vacation to Hawaii
Great videos, super awesome my, this one of the most beautiful island in the world. Happy island all the time I am really like it very much. I am sailing alone around the world. I wish you all the best. Aloha.
We travel all the way from Wisconsin to Kauai every year because it is such a magical place. Your video made me a little verklempt just missing that place. Good job and keep up the good work. I agree that you may end up on a mainstream travel show someday. You certainly are pretty enough and I get a kick out of your adventures, such as sneaking into the St. Regis. We did that, too!
I follow your videos. Very lively and enjoyable. I saw some of yr open comments about some places are negativity replied by so many people. pls take care of it. otherwise u r awesome. wanna see more vlogs in future. Happy travelling...
I am visiting Kauai in September and can’t wait! Though I must say that the pristine island beauty portrayed here is rivaled by the beauty of the tour guide herself!
Steph......looking good 2019 looks like a great start for you, as much as there's so much bad shit out there, as least one can escape for a change, keep them coming.
Just got back from there a couple of weeks ago and loved the island. The island passed a law that no building can be taller than a coconut tree: the purpose was to keep the island from becoming like Oahu. I think it is an excellent law and hope to maybe move there someday.
Mt. Waialeale is the wettest spot on Earth.... always expect rain on Kauai... and from what I recall, less than 30% of the island is accessible by car... Na Pali coast is epic...
I just canceled my timeshare reservation In Princeville thinking that Honolulu would have more activities and be more fun. Wow, your video makes me wonder if I had made a mistake. I’m from Seattle too and would rather be in the sun although the rain wasn’t so bad. Look forward to seeing more of your videos.
Wow...you visited Kauai!! I miss the island I was born on. Local boy born on the south side... Kekaha, raised in Waimea. So nice to see this video. I miss my 1st home. Here in Tacoma is a culture shock lol. Much Mahalo (thanks) and many more Alohas. Shaka braddah! Or in this case... sistah!🤣🤙🏼🌴
