Prices are hard to handle, especially if you want to stay at least a week on Kauai. Fancy resorts are available, and they are beautiful. But what if you don't want to spend so much on rooming and spend it elsewhere, such as on meals and tours? I have never stayed at Kauai Shores Hotel and never was attracted to it. It's been around forever and looked typical 1970's.
Well, it has been updated. The structures are the same, but the look is different. The rooms are clean, modern and somewhat fun. The color scheme appeals to those going into middle age but feel younger.
It's a beautiful setting, on the beach in Kapa'a Kauai. A protective beach is really close by (many of us realize that the waves can be rough in that area.) The restaurant is good, music is played in the evening. Sit down facing the beach, enjoy the music, and realize that you didn't have to break the bank to stay there.
