The song's meaning to Xena fans: The warrior princess is about to kick some serious butt. Epic fights begin! The song's meaning to Bulgarians: "Hey mom, there's music playing. I'm going to see what's up, see you later mom."
It's really amazing to see that in places so far away from Bulgaria , someone performes our folk music. You are amazing guys, thank you for your incredible work !
English translation: A kaval is playing A kaval is playing, mother, Up-down, mother, up-down, mother. Kaval is playing, mother, Up-down, mother, outside the village. I'll go there, mother, to see it, To see it, mother, to hear it. If it is played by a fellow villager I'll love him from dawn to noon. If it is played by a foreigner I'll love him for entire my life.
I am nearly 30 years old and loved xena since I was a kid but I was today years old when I found out that this is an actual language and is Bulgarian, that’s so cool and amazing these are some talented ladies and it brings me back to all the times in the series xena would battle someone
...This was a religious experience for me. I grew up on Xena. My mom told me I had a Xena complex because I always thought I could take on an army. So much of who I am is because of how I idolized Xena growing up. I rewatched it as an adult and just going "Oh that's where I got ___" Hearing this... idk how to describe how it just effected me emotionally.
This is called "The Warrior Princess" , it's on the first Xena Soundtrack track 2. It was always my favourite Xena theme. Its known to many Xenites as the Evil Xena Theme. Xena would always kick major ass when this was playing that's why I loved it so much :) GREAT JOB GUYS i LOVE THIS!
Such a delight to FINALLY see the ladies and band behind these iconic voices and sound, Xena is apart of my-and many childhoods growing up, and now who I am. Thank you 🙏🏼😌😊❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Love it, brings back childhood memoirs the 90s. Bulgaria in ancient history was once called Thrace, which the ancient Thracians played a role with the ancient Greeks. Lo Duca and Raimi gave it a hit with there production.
Absolutely love this version! All the singers were in sync as well as beautiful and their voices were incredible. The musicians too, were amazing, and kept up with the song perfectly. Gave me goosebumps, literally. Very mystical and magical.
This was amazing! I always love this Bulgarian folk style of singing and I have the Xena series to thank for that. I do love the theme song and many of Lo Duca's Bulgarian folk music-inspired original score for the series. But the Lo Duca arrangement from Xena used here is NOT the theme song, but a song used during most of the fight scenes called, "The Warrior Princess"; take it from a true Xenite.
Amazing performance, gave me goosebumps. So if I get this right, "The Warrior Princess" is a theme in Xena's OST that is heavily influenced by the bulgarian folk song "Kaval Sviri", and this is a mash up of both using "Kaval Sviri"'s lyrics, am I correct?
Wow. Raging tune, rich vocals and interesting instrumentation - nice job! I've already listened 3 times in a row and forwarded to some friends. Keep up the great work!
My new boss theme for gruula the destroyer, hunger of the mistress, the great consumer, eater of the world. A new bbeg for my new lost valkyrie dnd campaign. thanks for the inspiration.
I'm watching Genesis the creation and the flood ( 2011) they use a choir just like this but the movie is from ancient times and Bulgaria is modern, I tried to find the soundtrack but is nowhere to be found.
I'm not there and yet I can feel the Electric energy and sheet joy!! What a privilege it would have been to have been there during this recording! Amazing performance!!
I could feel the strength of Xena the legendary princess warrior whose forged into the crisis heat of battle. Remember this is why a land of turmoil cried out for a hero I could feel her presents within the music like if Xena's Chakram & her Sword has stroke me down threw the throat an pierce my heart an got send back at a time of ancient God's come to life.
Disregarding the meaning of the lyrics a little, but this version is AWESOME!!!!! I LOVE the screaming strings, tortured clarinet, and 3-part scatting all pushed into that aggressive, nasal, forward Bulgarian tonespace.
