First video of you that I'm watching. love it. subscribing. i appropve of the name of the wind and wise mans fear.... best book series ever. Now if he would just come out with the 3rd book.
Adam Denecke thanks brother. Couldn't agree more King Killer Chronicles is my favourite series as well. A close second is Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson.
Very, Very interesting perspective on this vs Pedro Ximenez! I share the same thoughts when it comes to those style of whiskys. It seems to overpower the other notes, and finding a balance with it seems tricky at best. PS I seen a 750ml of this for $389.99 just now. hmmm...
W6, it sounds very delicious for such a short maturation. I hope to try them in a bar someday. I do have the Sherry Oak at 46% but its still unopened. I did however find a bottle of the Macallan ED 1 and to my surprise their was a Mac 18 1995 to the left. I never thought I would pay $249 for the Mac 18, but when I saw the date of 1995, I knew this was a $400 - $500 bottle. Funny thing is, the remaining other Mac 18 were 2018 and were the same price. The store obviously was selling all of the Mac 18 for the same price. Great review Rob.
W6, the kicker to this find was, that the purchase was made at a Bevmo of all places. Now this Bevmo was not in my city by any means as I have checked for the Mac ED 1 before, after purchasing the Mac ED 2. I had to drive about 90 minutes to a Bevmo out of town, where the typical customer would not buy bottles like these. I guess demographics plays a large role. I can't wait to try the Mac Ed 1 this fall, I hear it is better than the ED 2.
Keith Petersen nice find Keith! there's a Total Wine near me in orange county that has a 1997 Mac 18 for $229. I'm probably going to pick it up . it'd hard because I can get a couple bottles of some great stuff for the same price. But it seems to be a STEAL of a price for the Mac.
Brandon, the last time I had bought a Mac 18 was over 10 years ago and I didn't have a clue about scotch. Yes, you can get a couple of great bottles for that price, but Macallan has such a unique taste of its own. That's not a bad price for the Mac 18 considering its a 1997. Hope you enjoy it.
Great review as always, The Kavalan sounds fantastic, but too much money and too much work to land a bottle. I never could understand the need for Whisky stones. Just me I guess.
