Kavanaugh Ridge is an overlook that lies at 11,000 feet with incredible views into Hoover Wilderness Area. This trail is only accessible during summer months after the snow has melted. From the viewpoint at the top, the terrain drops off several thousand feet and offers incredible views of the Hoover Wilderness Area. Below, there are several lakes including East Lake, Green Lake, West Lake, Gilman Lake, Hoover Lakes and more. In the distance you can see Gabbro Peak, Page Peaks East, Epidote Peak and more.
We explored this area in our 2021 Can-Am Commander XT-P and stopped at Dunderburg Mill and checked out the remnants from the "town" and the stamp mill.
The most direct route to Kavanaugh Ridge is from Virginia Lakes via Dunderberg Meadow Road, but we drove in from closer to Bridgeport off of Highway 395 and Green Creek Road.
The ridge is at high elevation and it is typically windy, so plan accordingly!

Looks like an old stamping mill. They used those piston like heads to smash ore and find gold silver etc. Looks like a fun ride.

great video !! did you have to install a clutch kit to run those 32? or stock clutch is fine ? thanks for shearing your videos I'm really thinking of buying one for trail riding.

Stock clutch but a change in weights would help. BRP makes a high altitude kit that we are going to try.

Looked like a real nice ride! I’m curious. How was the heat in the cab during the ride? I’m told that the previous Commander was quite warm inside and I know my RZR 900S is plenty hot also. The new Commander is on my list of possible replacements in a couple years.

@@UTVGuide101 that’s good to hear! It’s going to be a tough choice when the time comes. I also hear that the new Commander is more quiet than the previous generation.
